I'm in the select club of people who can't taste strawberry flavours. I've tried many different varieties at many different concentrations (from 0.5% to 12%) and can barely notice it's smell, let alone it's taste.
Then today I stumbled upon a juice I had mixed around two months ago, a peppermint+menthol+ripe strawberry (all from tfa) that I couldn't feel the taste like all others but I decided to give it another try before trashing it and to my surprise and delight, I tasted the most sweet strawberry ever!
Can it be the time it steeped that allowed the flavour to rise and shine? I mean... two months? Is that what it takes? Or maybe it was just a good tastebuds day?
I can always smell the strawberry but certain mixes I can't taste as well. I've noticed that if I don't vape strawberry flavors for a week or so I can taste it, for the first tank or two. After that it fades. Inw shisha strawberry and red touch are the most prominent for me. Most strawberry seems to be the tpa strawberry ripe which is one I have trouble really picking up. Steeping will bring it forward in a mix, but I'd rather just use one I don't have a problem with.
The only strawberry I can taste is the TFA Strawberry TFA Strawberry Ripe combo. First tasted it in God Milk, now it's the only way I use strawberry.
Might be, I've always hard trouble with strawberry and certain flavors with a bakery cinnamon in the mix. It takes a long time for the actual flavor to come out to where I enjoy it. Over the Black Friday weekend I bought a juice that was supposed to be a butterscotch pudding, after tasting it I found it had baked cinnamon roll in it, which imo over powered everything. I couldn't vape it at all till a few weeks ago. I've only had one good strawberry vape, but I can't even remember how I mixed it up, all I know is it was a strawberry banana milk shake and it had been sitting on the shelf for 2 months.
That actually sounds really good. Would you mind sharing your recipe?
I just love menthol so I have this base recipe (that I keep tweaking) that I throw fruit flavours in it:
- TFA Menthol Liquid - 1,5%
- TFA Koolada - 1,5%
- TFA Peppermint - 4%
- TFA Sweet and Tart - 2%
- TFA Strawberry Ripe - 6% (or any other citric fruit you like)
The only thing that needs steeping is the fruit flavour so some will steep faster, like TFA Lemon Lime (good even for shake and vape, but tastes great after 3 days). Strawberry ripe flavour wasn't present with 2 weeks of steeping so it needes more.
it might just be the other flavors mellowed out enough. have you tried straight strawberry? i've found it to be more of a 'i notice if it isn't there' flavor in mixes.
try something like this
1ml strawberry (any)
1ml main flavor (fruit hoops, custard, whatever)
1ml accent/blender (ice cream, marshmallow, 50/50 meringue/milk, etc.)
5ish ml pg
QS to 30ml with VG
I always use a rule of 3 like this and have yet to get a bad vape out of it.
edit: nevermind i see you said up to 12% so yeah you probably did try straight strawberry. maybe try a strawberry blend? strawberry, ripe, sweet?
i don't know if it was one of the mixes i use you tried, but it sounds like the exact combo! however, that's beside the point.
for me, that's the best way i've found to bring out strawberry ripe, anything else just tastes like a bit of background noise -pleasant, but just not very strawberry like. in my experience you're absolutely right about the steeping part, i don't usually give it two months, but it does sometimes take two full weeks before it really starts tasting great.
