Adding nicotine shots and flavor to pre-mixed VG/PG
submitted over 7 years ago by IEatHolyBooks

I am trying to figure out what is the correct formula to create an eJuice with pre-mixed VG/PG. I am using steam engine to calculate the recipe.

Ingredients:

How would I go on about modifying that recipe to fit my ingredients since I do not have seperate PG/VG?

Since you don't have separate PG and VG, you won't be able to get the exact percentage PG/VG hat the calculator gives you. You'd have to either just add the PG & VG amounts together and use that amount of your mix, or buy separate PG & VG. Mathematically, you can't get the exact percentage without separate VG.

Yeah that's unfortunate, you could buy separate VG or just add the total amount of 22ml of your 60/40 mix, which will result in a less VG/more PG mix total. But it's a small difference (in this case).

I couldn't find a calculator for this. If you add 22ml of your pre-mixed VG/PG it will result in 13,2 VG and 8,8 PG instead of 14,5 VG and 7,5 PG, and I think that's acceptable. A total of 56% VG / 44% PG (approximately). The problem is when you add more flavors, the PG percentage will increase.

You don't really have the ability to yield a particular VG/PG ratio when you're using a premixed base. Instead, just do that math yourself:

You're looking for 30mL total of 3mg/mL juice, so you want 90mg total of nicotine. (30mL * 3mg/mL = 90mg)

Your nic shot has 18mg/mL, so you want to use 5mL of nic shot. (90mg / 18mg/mL = 5mL)

You want 5% of that 30mL to be Flavor 1, so you need 1.5mL of Flavor 1 (30mL * .05 = 1.5mL)

You also want 5% of that 30 mL to be Flavor 2, so you need 1.5mL of Flavor 2 (30mL * .05 = 1.5mL)

So you've put all that in the bottle, which comes out to 8mL (5mL + 1.5mL + 1.5mL = 8mL)

That means to get a total of 30mL, you need to add 22mL of your base liquid (30mL - 8mL = 22mL)

As I said, you don't have the ability to change your final ratio of VG/PG with premixed base. On the upside, once you take that ratio out of the equation, the math is super easy - no fancy calculator required.

This should really be in the new mixers thread, search premix and I think you'll find the answer to any questions about this you have.

You bought premixed so add the premix to the total amount listed in VG and PG (22ml in your gif). Your VG/PG ratio will be roughly 50/50 once you add the flavors and nic.

I use Vape Tool Pro. You can get the free version on the Google play store & use it on a phone or tablet. Then just put in your VG & PG %'s, the nic strength you want, and how much juice you want to make. It will tell you the rest.
