When I’m making a juice that involves a custard or cream base what is a good ratio for the base flavor then supplemental flavors? Example if I wanted to make a peach,apricot custard or cream. 30/70 pg/vg ratio. Say maybe 7% custard and 3-4% additional flavors? Still new to all of this.
That's going to vary wildly, depending on which custard you're using and which additional flavors you're using.

I'm almost out of FE Sweet Orange, which is just plain unacceptable. Anyone want to recommend something by JF or FE, or something that's otherwise hard to find anywhere except at ECX, that I should grab while I'm re-upping that? I don't order from ECX often and don't want to have to do it again soon, but they sell some things - Like FE Sweet Orange, Guava, Passionfruit, Lemon, Green Tea, Sweet Rice, Sun Seeds, and Oak Milk and JF Sweet Strawberry, Dulce De Leche, Biscuit, Cookie, Yellow Cake, Honeydew Melon, and Juicy Lemon - that make the occasional order unavoidable. Any gems I'm missing out on?
It’s the only place I’ve found FA Black Pepper and FA Chestnut. Both pretty cool. FE Cigar, Captain, and Hongtashan are my top picks for their tobaccos (though Cigar= SC Cigar and Captain= SC Old Captain.) Cigar has been my secret weapon in RY4s lately, though if you use Holy Grail then that’s probably already fixed up your RY4 Double problem.

And yes, JF RY4 is better than TFA's but DIYFS Holy Holy Grail RY4 has pretty much ruined me for all other RY4s. Fuck, it's so good with some added tobacco a la Fear's Cardinal and my Raven.
I think I’ve finally got a winner with my chestnut tobacco I’ve been working on since October. Chestnut is super strong.
Hongtashan is sort of a sweet cinnamon tobacco. It wouldn’t be the best cinnamon and it wouldn’t be the best tobacco, but it’s the best cinnamon tobacco all in one.
The Cigar isn’t an RY4, but it goes really well with them. I’ve got some FA Fresh Fig on the way and I’m going to give Tripoli another go with that because I’m pretty sure the tobacco in it is RY4 Double+FE Cigar.

A pretty noob question ! When to add nicotine to my juice ? When i add it at the beginning directly after mixing it comes out too harsh for 6 mg after 2-3 weeks steeping .. What is the best time to add the nicotine?
/u/cheebasteeba did an EXCELLENT write up on this a while back. There's also this very informative post about nicotine from /u/Botboy141 . Chances are there's an underlying issue that you've overlooked.
Most of us add nicotine when we make the juice. However, if the plan is to steep the mix for more than a month or two, some people wait and add it after the steep to avoid excessive nicotine oxidation effects.

After reading through the 2 links above, you should be able to decide when you want to add nicotine.
If you've read through the above links and you are still convinced the 2-3 week steep with nicotine is the cause of the harshness, try adding 6mg worth to it after it steeps 2-3 weeks and see if it's any better.
Sounds like another issue is at play here. Where are you storing your mixes? Where is the nicotine from?
Has anyone maybe went from 70vg/30 DIY juice to vaping 50/50 diy juice ? I'm vaping 70/30 6 mg nic juice and I'm thinking about going to 50/50 for a more intense flavor, would that ratio be too harsh for the throat after vaping 70/30 for several months? I'm a MTL vaper using kayfun prime and berserker rtas
I can’t speak to the different it will make in a RTA, but I baked 70/30 for years and eventually switched to 50/50 hoping for improved coil life. I did notice a slight improvement in flavor, and didn’t experience noticeably increased harshness (DL vaper). Oh, and it did improve coil life as well! I never looked back.

USP PG is what you want to look for. You can find it cheaper online than local.

Without getting into a complicated discussion, no. Artificial flavors are used for a reason.

We use the term steeping. Do you currently vape? The same rules for juice apply when mixing. Flavors need time to disperse throughout the completed mix. Some flavors/profiles take longer than others. Typically, fruit only mixes are good as a Shake-N-Vape.
I've been doing research on starting to do my own juice. Difficulty, I have a sensitivity to PG. Been vaping off and on for about ten years, starting with little pens and working off and on. I always got an upper respiratory tract infection after a few months.
So, I moved to using places like Vape Kitchen, but the costs are high, and I think I can cut back on my costs if I start doing it myself.
Now, I've tried Max VG products, but they vary so wildly on PG content that I'm always a bit concerned.
I can use some 10-15% but I want to go back to PG free if I can.
Question is...nobody seems to make recipes for them (since VG doesn't carry much flavor) and i'm not sure where to find the products. My google fu has failed me.
Any help?
Nude Nicotine has several flavor bases all vg i suggest using an rda if your going full vg tho as it wont wick well

I typically run big baby beast with a t8 coil and a prince with the huge coil, both seem to be running quite well on full VG thick stuff.
I do NOT want to make my own coils, just don't. LOL. Which was interesting back in the day when I got my first mods, someone would see me vaping and come up to start talking with me about it.
I kinda want 'easy'.
I'm a cook, and a damned good one, so this seems like a good idea, I can mix up some juice...LOL
Look into the RF PDO flavors. You'll need to do some single flavor tests, then experiment some.
Yeah, I decided on the nude nicotine starter kit with some extra flavors. Figure I'll test some singles there and order some other flavors next month and see what I can come up with.

No, Real Flavors has some good VG flavors. They take longer to steep than PG flavors and are harder to mix with, so you'll have trouble finding recipes. But what you do is order some VG flavors that sound good to you, try them as standalone flavors to figure out which ones you actually like and what is a good concentration for them, and then create your own recipes.
ive been attempting to make a coffee flavor and even with a low percentage of coffee its still got more coffee kick to it than id like.. the cream is already double the coffee and its barely tastable Bavarian Cream - lorann oils 4% Coffee from ecigexpress - pretty sure its inerwa 2% sweetener (sucralose) - TFA 3% Irish Cream - Flavour Art 1% any ideas on how to fix this and make it a more enjoyable coffee flavor?
Yeah. Dump the creams and the sweetener. Add a little cinnamon, maybe.
Coffee is most enjoyable the way it's meant to be - black. With booze. So maybe some FLV bourbon in the mix?

I'm looking for some help buying supplies. Been trying to DIY for about a year now and never really had a good amount of success. Regardless of steep times and recipe followed my liquid was always harsh and flavourless. I think my problem is my base liquids. Can someone give me a good place to order Nic, VG and PG within the UK?

You don’t really need to premix flavors bases like that if you are going to be using a scale to mix by weight (which you should be doing). You are always going to want to tweak the amount of flavoring you use, and you won’t be able to do that by mixing everything at once.
You also don’t want to be mixing 100-300 ml batches at once if you have never tried the recipe before. Plastic or glass dropper bottles are fine.
It is just something that I want to try from what I've read from websites like DIY or DIE, for example. If I make 3 or 4 custards within a week or two, it makes sense that I'll be using the same custard until I find a recipe which isn't suitable... at which point I have a greater understanding stemming from this way of doing things.
I also have tried all of my all day vape recipes currently, and there isn't a one which I wouldn't like to make in a bigger quantity. If my palette changes down the line I guess I'll just stop making one.
Can you at least tell me what kind of plastics I can be using to store my juices in?
If you are already mixing you should already know what kind of bottles to mix juice in. For plastic, I like BCF bottles or bottles from Amazon from the seller 810 Central.
You won’t have a greater understanding of how it works when making large batches like that. You’ll just have wasted supplies and money. Unless, as you said, these are recipes you know you’ll vape, go for it. If you mix by weight, you aren’t saving any time by mixing “stones” up beforehand, just so you know.
Your juice will also still need to steep. So mixing those flavor bases up won’t aid you in that department. I think that’s why some people may think the mixing of flavor bases appeals to them.

Bought these to cure custards after tasting a favorite recipe that had sat in the dark for 5 months and attained a new level of yum.

I’m looking for some help “churching up” a recipe. A couple months ago u/ID10T gave me some advice in another thread, basically telling me what to mix for a simple nuts and cream recipe.
The recipe is very good on its own, but I started experimenting with additional flavors to layer in with everything else, without much success making the recipe better. Some were okay, some were no bueno (TFA Brandy - I don’t want to talk about it.)
So my question is: Can anyone think of anything I could add to this recipe to take it up a notch? Feel free to suggest anything, as I don’t mind buying another ingredient or two. I’m trying to give it a bit more “edge”, maybe a darker nutty flavor, or a tobacco? (I have literally zero experience with tobaccos, but I do have some TFA RY4 Double on the way.)

(TFA) Bavarian Cream - 3% (FW) Hazelnut - 4% (FA) Torrone - .75% (FA) Vienna Cream - 1% (CAP) Super Sweet - .3%
Tobacco wise, I think TFA RY4 Double would probably be ok with that, but I think there’s others that could probably be better. FLV Connecticut Shade around .5% would add some cocoa and coffee notes that I think would play well. FLV Tatanka tastes similar to RY4 Double to me, but it’s got less of a dirt flavor. INW Tobacco Symphony is like s bright leaf tobacco with some peanut that would probably fit in nicely and give it a little kick around 2%. The recipe is sort of the same profile that I vaped for about a year and a half when I started DIY, and I loved it with a little FE Blended Tobacco. FE Captain, Turkish, and Cigar would also work well I think. I’ve been going buck wild on TFA RY4 Double with FE Cigar lately. It’s a really nice combo. 3-4% with the RY4 D and 1.5-2% FE Cigar.
Yeah, I picked up RY4 Double to make Wayne’s Pistachio RY4, I would like to dip my toe into the tobacco vortex. The INW Tobacco Symphony sounds like it may work well, and FLV Connecticut Shade sounds amazing. Thanks for the heads up! Would you suggest adjusting any of my existing percentages when adding one of these, or would I be all right to just add it in? Thanks for the help!
That I think will depend on what you’re shooting for and which flavor you decide to try out. The Connecticut Shade at .5% should be able to come through, and it’ll be more of an accent to what you already have. Tobacco Symphony you might want to bring the other things down a little since it’ll act more like a base.
I would put like 5% CAP Sugar Cookie in there. But that's not edgier/darker like you're talking about. Have you considered a Fig like FLV Sweet Fig or CAP Fig?
I do have some CAP Fig that I’ve never had the nerve to use, and honestly it never occurred to me that it may fit here. Thanks for the advice, I’ll mix up a small batch tonight!

We've had quite a bit of discussion about them recently. Here are some links, but I don't have any input because I have yet to try them. If it ain't broke don't fix it kinda thing, plus I don't do pods, and my MTL mixes generally get mixed at 6-12 instead of the 3 I typically do for sub-ohm mixes.
Anyone have any approximate steep times for a few flavors im SFT-ing?

No need to go digging into reviews for me i can do that myself, just figured id ask in case anyone knows off the top of their heads.
About half of the RFSC's I've tried needed a week to get rid of a weird chemical flavor in them. I tried some stuff with FLV Fried Dough and the steep didn't make much difference, that stuff is STRONG. I hope you're SFTing like 0.15%. Milk and Honey, except not insanely strong, just doesn't change much over time as a single flavor. I've never tried TFA Irish Cream.
Anyone ever work with BOTH TPA bubblegum and TPA bubblegum fruity/juicy? if so, what's the main differences between them?
I've never really worked with bubblegum but am trying a couple of new recipes. Some months back I purchased TPA bubblegum and apparently selected the juicy/fruity version rather than the traditional bubblegum. Trying to determine if it's worth it to buy another bubble gum.
LA Bubblegum is the one you'll probably find that is closest to what you're going for as far as bubblegum.

I've tried it in a few simple mixes that were just "ok". the recipes I have in mind are a little more complex so I'm thinking the bubblegum/candy aspect will come out a little better. Most of the recipes with bubblegum I've seen uses TPA bubblegum and I have the juicy variant. was wondering if the flavor profile was altogether different between them.
When it comes to steeping, is more=better? For instance, I was going through my DIY containers and found a batch of juice that's gotta be ~5-6wks old...I'm hesitant to vape it (worried of degradation), though TBH I'm not familiar enough w/ steeping to know whether it's a concept of "there's a just-right time for a juice, earlier & later are worse" or if it's just 'the more steeped, the better!'
Just an answer to that, and an opinion on what you'd do with ~80mL of ~1.5mo old juice, would be great!! However, any elaboration on steeping times, if it's not as straight-forward as longer=better, would be hugely appreciated!

Depends on the ingredients. Fruits and berries can fade over time, whereas dessert flavors and tobacco tend to improve. There can sometimes be a sweet spot, but the only way to know is to give it a taste now and then.
There's no cause for concern with old juice unless you've left it in the sun, heat or left the cap off. If it's black, harsh or smells bad, just toss it.

Starter kits really aren’t the way to go. It will work out better if you just order everything separate. Nicotine River’s kit is decent, but still not perfect.
I have a great recipe that I would love to mix, but there's a little problem: any FLV or OOO flavourings are not available in Poland, so I'm seeking for any good substitues for:

I have a recipe I'd really like to try -a butterscotch mix (Game of Thrones on ELR). I have FW, FA, FLV butterscotch and FW Butterscotch natural. For those who have played around extensively with butterscotch - which of the 4 butterscotches that I have do you think would like work as the best sub for TPA? Conversely if you think TPA butterscotch is so unique that it requires a flavor purchase that would be good to know too.
FW Butterscotch Natural is great. I'm entirely not sure of the % to sub without looking at the receipe, maybe 1:1 for starters in a small batch and see how it goes.
Thanks for that. ThirdWorldOrder at ELR has a recipe (butterscotch imperial) which uses butterscotch natural. It is really good and I mix it frequently. I'll try it in this recipe too - maybe a 20ml tester and a 20ml tester with one of the others to see how it goes. while I like butterscotch I only get minor taste differences among them. maybe butterscotch is to me what strawberry is to many others. I just didn't want to ruin the batch with a choice that clearly wouldn't work.
Anybody ever clone squeezee super good? It's been my ADV and I'm about to make my first purchase to diy. I found this recipe but there's no comments on it. Can anyone give me an idea if this looks like a good recipe?
Should be tasty if not exact. You'll have to try that recipe vs the real thing to know for sure
You'll most likely end up with a version that's slightly different but more suited to your tastes, go for that. You'll quickly frustrate yourself and burn through your materials trying to get the exact same thing

Hope you got cola flavor, it's handy as hell - from one noob to another, 5-7% cola plus 1-3% grape and a ton of ethyl maltol makes that real coke taste.
-Marshmallow has an awesome mouth-feel and is amazing as a caramel-type sweetener
-your syringes/pipettes aren't clean enough. Ever.
-get a cheap ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to address that issue. Don't open/use the packet of detergent. They don't improve steeping but they will speed up blending

I think there's a step I'm doing wrong, the flavors I've made so far have a kind of bitter finish to them despite tasting fairly close to proper. Can someone add their input?
Current recipe: 7% cola, 2% key lime, 1% grape, 5% maltol and 1% marshmallow. Pop bottle candy, and it'd be perfect if not for this problem :D
To steep, I've been mixing the juice sans-nic, shaking vigorously and placing in a warm bath, sealed, until the bubbles are gone and the mix is clear again. Wait till it's room temp and test, breathing the bottles every couple mins
Is doing the process in the dark super important?
If it's just that recipe, you could perhaps tone down the cola and lime a bit, kinda depends on the brand.
If it's everything you mix, your base might be bad, try vaping it unflavored. PG in particular turns bitter when oxidized.
Indoor light is not a problem, it's the UV radiation from the sun that is bad, so keep your lights on. Do skip the bath and breathing though, that will only make matters worse. A recipe like this can usually be enjoyed right after mixing, but may take a day or two to fully come together.

If the other stuff you try doesn't fix the bitter problem, you might try single flavor testing your ingredients and see if you get that bitter finish from them. One of them might just not agree with you.
I just got some (WF) Candy Stick Candy SC, has anyone played around with this at all?
I'm currently testing it at 5% because I over poured while mixing a 10ml tester. Testing the mix directly on the coil with no cotton.

E: WF quince jelly SC S&V 2% - Floral. Dirty apple. Pear. Sweeter than VG. distinct dirty flavor that I can't place. Slight banana?
loaded one coil with CSC 5% and the other with quince jelly. more sweet, less floral, slightly less dirty. slightly chalky.
could benefit from another apple flavor, custards, other fruits, I could see this being bent towards a bakery flavor.
Testing interest. I bought many of my flavorings in large bottles before I realized that they have an expiration. Not sure if this is against the rules, but I'd like to rebottle into 10 ml containers and sell or trade here. Mostly TFA, some FA and INW as well. Would anyone be interested? I'll post a new thread with more info after some input.

I usually don’t do it, but it’s more because I’m too lazy to mix something special. But I’m hoping it’ll keep me satisfied enough to not blow through 20 ml in 5 hours and then feel super shitty tomorrow.
