I bet /u/tiptup300 has this all laid out already... He did something very similar last year.
oh damn really? i dont think i was around last year or at least not active. If he is working on something similar i would love to help!
edit: Sent him a PM. Dont wanna steal his thunder if this is his thing haha.
Was planning on doing this after the new year so we are for sure of anyone who contributed during the year. Plus it doesn't intrude with all the official contests going on at the same time.
Last year for whatever reason there was a lot of negative community drama and people were becoming increasingly short with each other. So I decided to make the Tiptup300 Community MVP awards where you nominate who you think were important contributors to the community for that year. Whether that be with good recipes (Grack Juice), innovative recipes (Green Kitkat), introducing the community to "new" or obscure concentrates (FE Green Tea), or companies that did a good job for whatever reason (flavorwest fixing the malware on their site....even if they didn't admit it was there)
#And as you said
> i dont think i was around last year or at least not active.
I see the mvp awards nominations as a bit of a archival of the community and what all happened during that year. You can go back and see all the winners and contributions they made.
I love the idea of categories to make it more understandable for what people are voting for. I suppose the grammys could be used as a inspiration for categories being that they're also literally a popularity contest.
Anyways, I wouldn't mind someone taking over at some point, but for this year I should be able to manage doing them, I would be very happy to work with you and implement your ideas/change mine.
Best of 2017: The side board.
Hopefully we converted at least one soul that knew damn well all the info was there but was too lazy or wired to get information and gain knowledge the incorrect way.
That includes mixing. What's the logic of mixing single flavors by itself and taking tons of notes when you can do 6-8 at a time with 20% flavoring and throw the masterpiece on e-liquid for all to enjoy.
People born pre-internet equipped with the latest smart phone's model cause society tells us that's the upgrade path had instant access to information 24/7 all their life and have a different brain chemistry than us old fuc*s that are 30+.
We were self taught because we didn't have a thing called google or now days F text when you can watch a tutorial on youtube which is the best source of info. Instead of dedicated forums you can hit twitter for more info and it's a double win because you can gain more subscribers at the same time.
I bet a lot of us still remember every DOS command because we were self taught and had to take our time starting from square one (Wiki/FAQ Index) over time by getting into the guts learned how it operates inside and out then strive to gain more knowledge. That's a lost art that will never ever come back.
The amazing 386, DOS, calling a BBS from your massive list with Mom picking hearing a computer noise for the 8th time pissed as fuc* and you hear her yell at him, win 3.1, Xcom, Pentium OG, Soundblaster, Voodoo2, Duke Nukem > Doom, Redhat Linux, Using your 20th free 50 hour AOL disc trying to convince people that it's not the internet and no, using the browser doesn't suck, a magical 56k modem which was impossible to ever get faster, Heroes of Might and Magic, LAN parties, a little pen and paper action, Usenet, jailbreaking the Dreamcast, IRC being on Efnet of course Dalnet/Undernet sucks.
Then the closed Windows 95 came out and it was game over.
I think some of these categories are repetitive, best flavour of 2017, and then best new flavour of 2017? All of these categories are of 2017.
-Best DIY Vendor
-Concentrate- Bullcity
-Base- Bulkapocathary
-Nicotine- Haven't bought Nic this year lmao
-Hardare- Wizardlabs
Best Flavor Brand- Flavorah
Best Single Concentrate- Tangerine (CAP)
Never Flavor Line- I guess the Silver series Capella?
Best Nic- Didn't buy any this year
Community favorite is going to be hard because its going to a be a civil war split between reddit, ELR, ATF and LEDI, and the top user is probably going to be one of the over-frequent mixers here that also somehow always manages to get the limelight lmao which will turn Most unique recipe of 2017 probably into some strawberry and cream recipe called overkill or done-to-death and the community favorite will be some remix of a cloned copycat. lmao
Thanks for the suggestions, very good input! I was thinking the same thing about too many categories. Maybe It should be streamlined down to two or three categories. And yeah I kinda want to put in best recipe categories and stuff like that but feel like it would cause drama. Might be best to stick to favorite flavor house and favorite all time concentrate. Those two were my initial ideas that I was interested in seeing the results of. Makes things less confusing as well.
Best Vendor:
Nic River for nic, PG/VG Bull City for flavorings
Best Flavor.....that one is incredibly tough. Is it best for being spot on as described, most versatile, or all around?
I will nominate a few.
TFA Strawberry Ripe Cap Vanilla Custard Cap Sugar Cookie V2 Cap Cereal 27 INW Biscuit
Most Valuable Contributor:
Do not want to offend anyone, but I have to nominate u/concreteriver for the in depth flavor reviews, as well as providing pairing suggestions.
Also u/ID10-T for all around coolness, and hard work for the community.
