Alright, here we go again! This time with cheesecake concentrates! As always, ALL CREDIT goes to fresh03, i am just a dude that had some time and has a keyboard.. Anyways, heres some awesome flavor notes on cheesecake concentrates!
Please let me know if there are any typos or any other issues, i can edit it and fix it.
Please keep in mind that your flavor tests might have different results than fresh03's, everyone has a different pallet and sometimes two people will taste the same flavor completely differently, so these notes arent set in stone law, but just fresh03's opinion on things.
THE NOTES:
-
TFA Cheesecake (w/ graham crust) - A staple flavor for most DIY mixes. Can be used with custard to add depth, or vice versa. Not as sharp as a NY cheesecake, not as much bitter/sour/tang notes. This flavor works really well because of the graham crust in it. Can be used to add some graham notes to things (of course the cheesecake notes will also be present). Nice graham cracker crust, which is buttery and almost gives a marshmallow-esque note. Adds depth to bakery recipes. Doesn't work well solo, bit works awesome with other flavors, especially other cheesecake flavorings. The graham crust is quite present in this flavoring. Works well with creams like TFA or CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, TFA Bavarian cream, or TFA vanilla bean gelato for example.
-
CAP NY Cheesecake - Excellent cheesecake concentrate. Sharp cheesey note, cream cheesey bitterness. Works amazingly with fruit because of the extra sharp cheesyness in this flavoring. The sharpness helps push fruit notes to the front unlike some heavier creamy flavors that can round round out or mute fruits. Works great with TFA cheesecake graham crust, you'll get a nice balanced cheesecake type effect. Works best with other flavors, not the best solo. Works well with creams; The cream will help smooth out some of the sharper cheesey notes. Helps it become a creamier richer cheesecake. This one is a long steeper (in the month range for steeping, will add steep time to recipes)
-
TFA Cheesecake - lots of off notes, not the best flavor. Seem to need other flavorings (like creams) to help cover up its off notes (off notes of heavy butter, sour, and has a sharpness to the cheesyness as well). Not recommended to be vaped solo. Can add extra sharpness to a cheesecake vape but don't forget about its off notes that you'll have to work with and cover up in most cases. Long steeper 2-3 weeks.
-
LA Cheesecake - really nice cheesecake, not much sharpness more on the creamy side. Could be vaped and enjoyed solo. Not a "true" cheesecake, doesn't have the cheeesy tangy sharpness that other cheesecake flavors have. Kind of a generic cheesecake flavor like a store bought cheesecake. Has a nice sweetness. Works well with other cheesecake notes to build a more rounded cheesecake mix.
-
FW Cheesecake - not bad but has some off notes. Extra sourness to it. Seems to be used a lot in commercial juices, most likely because it's very sweet. Takes extra work to mix successfully with but it isnt impossible.
-
PUR NY Cheesecake - Really nice flavor, fresh03 recommended. Takes a while to steep, sweet, does have some nice sharpness and depth.. 2+ week steep but worth the wait. Starts out weak and will really develop while it steeps. Has more of a cheesy nip to it, compared to PUR Cheesecake w/Graham Crust.
-
PUR Cheesecake w/ Graham Crust - Also an excellent cheesecake flavor. Has a bit less sharpness than PUR NY Cheesecake, but provides more of the graham notes. More like a store bought sweet cheesecake. Also starts out weak and will really develop over a 2 week steep. Works well in combination with the other PUR cheesecake flavoring, other cheesecake concentrates, for adding depth to creams and custards (adds steep time).
-
FLV Cheesecake - Enjoyed this concentrate quite a bit. Really nice richness to it, not too bad of a steep time. 3-4 days steep. Works well in combination with TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust. Not much graham notes in this concentrate.
-
Molinberry Cheesecake - Kind of middle of the road. Generic store bought cheesecake. There are a couple of interesting notes that could work well in combination with other concentrates, mostly useful as an additive to add some extra sweetness and depth. Doesnt really stand out, or do anything exceptionally well... but what it does do, it does well. Worth checking out if you want to try a different cheesecake concentrate.
-
RF (VG) Cheesecake - Kind of a sweet generic store bought cheesecake. The cheeseyness to it isnt very sour. More like a sweet creamy cheesecake. Not really up Fresh's alley but might be what others are looking for. You may need to heat treat eliquids that you make with this VG flavoring, blend/shake your eliquid extra to ensure the flavors are mixed evenly.
-
OoO Vanilla Custard Cheesecake - Get it, This one is a Fresh03 favorite! Works amazingly with other cheesecake concentrates. TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust especially, will create such a nice and rich cheesecake. Not the best solo, but works amazingly with other cheesecake concentrates. Gives so much extra depth. Will change your cheesecake game.
-
PUR Toasted Coconut Cheesecake - One of the few flavor concentrate that kind of has a legit toasted coconut note to it. Coconut stands out for the first couple of days after mixing, but calms down into sweet and sour wonderfullness. Worth checking out!
Extras:
Its usually beneficial to layer your cheesecake flavors, for example: CAP NY Cheesecake and TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust. If you want more cream cheese sharpness you go heavier on the NY Cheesecake, if you want some more graham notes, and a sweeter, creamier cheesecake; but still want to keep some of the sourness, go heavier on the Cheesecake w/ Graham Crust. Layering cheesecakes usually works well to get the best out of two concentrates, while also covering up the bad parts they may have. Understanding what each concentrate brings to the table, and learning to layer and balance them will be extremely beneficial for creating your own amazing cheesecake recipe. OoO Vanilla custard cheesecake is another concentrate that works well for layering a cheesecake, with all of the depth it can add.
Custards work really well in cheesecakes, often used to add some extra richness and depth.
Yogurts work really well in layering cheesecake recipes. For example, TFA Greek Yogurt can be great if you need more sharpness to something like loraans cheesecake, which is not an overly sharp cheesecake flavor. Make sure you keep your percentage low if using TFA Greek Yogurt in this way, or the yogurt could become overwhelming and take over the recipe. CAP Creamy yogurt is also a great concentrate to use with cheesecakes; it has some nice creaminess that helps blend your fruits and different cheesecake flavors together while also adding richness (best used like an additive under 0.75% for this type of application).
Cheesecakes usually work better with fruits when mixing, just because there arent many cheesecake flavorings that can really stand out by themselves. When you add in some fruit flavorings you generally have a much better experience. Its suggested that if you are planning to add fruits to your cheesecake recipe, you also add in some type of cream, for example; Whipped cream, Bavarian Cream or FLV Cream are a few that could work. The addition of the cream will help blend everything and make it feel like a more complete flavor.
Graham Cracker concentrates are often a great addition to a cheesecake recipe if you want to add to the graham cracker crust notes. Be careful with adding too much, because graham cracker concentrates can "rampage" quite easily. CAP Graham Cracker v1 , TFA Graham Cracker Clear, FLV Graham Cracker are all great graham flavorings to try with your cheesecake recipe.

Thanks a mill for these notes. Really appreciate the trouble you went to as these notes are really helpful for new DIY mixers. Maybe leave out promotional stuff you wrote at the end- about getting subscribers etc, - it's too shilly, takes away from an otherwise good summary.
I rather prefer written text to youtube videos. Information which has been readily avaiable in former times by reading 2 sentences now requires you to watch lengthy videos.
So many thanks for your efforts, much appreciated.
Yeah I'm the same way, when building a recipe I want fast and quick notes. I was gonna do these notes just for my personal use but figured everyone could benefit from having an extra opinion on flavorings. Out of respect for fresh03's YouTube hustle I do hold off on posting the trascribed notes for a little while so his videos can get the views and stuff.
These notes are very useful - thank you Brad24 and Fresh03. I honestly don't mind if someone is 'Saying something is good, better, terrible, etc', as long as they give reasons. After all it IS just their opinion. Thanks again - great notes - unfortunately it's proving quite hard to get OoO Vanilla Custard Cheesecake in Australia.
Is there a site for PUR? Google shows no results:(
We appreciate notes, but remember that they should remain as neutral as possible. Saying something is good, better, terrible, etc should be avoided when giving a review for the community. It's fine to put your personal opinions at the bottom somewhere, but when describing a flavor, we generally try not to use these type of words.
I also feel it's sort of tacky to come here whoring for youtube likes and subscribers.
This sub isn't free adspace whether it be for yourself or someone else.
I'd like another mod's opinion on this post. /u/kirkt , /u/ID10-T , /u/skiddlzninja
Edit: a word
It would much, much better if he put all the stuff about Fresh's show at the bottom instead of the top, below the notes, but I can appreciate all of the work that went into transcribing these notes and posting them here.
They could be very useful to someone who comes along later and types "Cheesecake" into the search bar. Yes, they come across much more opinionated/judgmental and less objective/descriptive than the best flavor notes, but they're still a good read and comparison study on various cheesecakes.
ah good idea i will move that stuff about his youtube to the bottom of the post! Not trying to whore out his youtube or anything like that, just wanted to make extra sure that i didnt appear to take credit for any of his content.
Im doing this to try and help out the community, didnt expect to have drama surrounding it. If thats the case i will just keep these notes to myself in the future.
Please don't keep them to yourself. Whiskey is just looking out for the quality of the sub and maybe feeling a bit salty today. We've had some issues with posts that have had to be removed because they were blatantly trying to use the sub as a free ad without adding anything of value to it, and then the poster having the gall to argue about it. So his comment is probably directed as much at others who might be tempted to pull that sort of shit than it is at you personally.
If Fresh has done a show about a particular flavor profile, I'd love to be able search this subreddit and find notes like these. FWIW, I'm subscribed to his channel but never have time to watch it live due to the work and kids schedule and can only pay it half-attention while it plays in the background during my mixing sessions. That's the only time I have to listen to it. So having the notes from the show transcribed here and available for future reference with a quick search like this is a treat for me, so thank you for posting them.
I wish someone would do this for the Noted show that I'm in. I'd love to do it myself, but there just is no time. Tuesday morning after the show I'm busy preparing for the next one. But if someone did that, I'd definitely want the YouTube link at the bottom, just in case someone wanted to use it, not above the actual content.
I don't see what wrong with his dictation of Fresh03's flavor notes on these cheesecake flavors. I see mixers and DIYers supporting the notes and opinions of other reputable mixers on a plethora of different online platforms.
Is this not a place to share links to reviewers reviews and notes like Fresh03, Jennifer Jarvis, Concrete River, Wayne Walker and the like; video & written Notes? Most if not all have compilation videos on flavors like Custards, Marshmallows, Maple, Cookies, Almond, Cake flavors etc.. Most will say in one way or another whether they think a flavor taste good or bad to them personally. So I'm not understanding. Should he omit those specific adjectives from his writing and just transcribe what the reviewer says that they taste in particular?
To phrase it that he is "whoring" out a reputable DIY'ers notes is harsh. I see it as he is sharing a link to where he got the notes from, who Fresh03 is (for reference purposes), and is showing support for their effort.
Edit- I didn't see that /u/ID10-T and other's had already placed their feedback regarding this post (just noticed the "load more comments (14 replies)". I'm glad to see this thread was addressed.
Initially it was a wall of links telling everyone to like and subscribe some youtube vids, followed by rather subjective reviews. I believe it's been addressed fairly.
For many of us, reading a review of a concentrate, hearing it's "pretty good", or "not too bad" tells us nothing. Tell us why it's good or bad, describe it in detail rather than just giving subjective opinions.
Also, the last thing we need in this sub is a bunch of links to YouTube begging for users to "like and subscribe" a bunch of videos.
