Flavor has flipped the script... Bye FLV Mango!
submitted almost 8 years ago by WorstAdviceROC

I hate to make a whole thread for this, but it is too damn weird not to. So, FLV Mango, perfect as God intended, great. Mainly using it in a Juul, a clone recipe of their Mango pod. Using it in the sub-ohm stuff too, no bubbles no troubles.

So, I make a recipe with FLV Sweet Coconut, and me and the ol lady try it out. Decent enough, I'm not crazy about coconut though. Eat a breath mint, get in the car, hit the Mango Juul..... Death by coconut. I hand it to her and say "taste this" with what I imagine is an awful look on my face. She hits it, proceeds to invent some new coconut themed cuss words.

I checked the bottles, made a fresh batch, the whole 9 yards. FLV Mango is now FLV Sweet Coconut for me, and it sucks. Even smelling the concentrates, they smell exactly alike. Has someone experienced something similar? WTF. This is bordering on being mildly upsetting. It's been nearly 2 weeks now, and it ain't changed a lick. Help?

Oh sweet goodness. What could it be? Do you have the batch number for the Flavorah Mango you purchased?

I've got 2 batches, they each smell the same. I've made the same recipe out of both bottles, tried it in water, triple checked everything. It has to be some type of neuro-association that developed due to a specific sequence of events or environmental factors, seeing as it affected me and my ol lady the same, at the same time. Shit, she doesn't even vape unless I force her to be my personal flavor reviewer.

Only thing that I can think of is that the damned breath mint.... Maybe it modified my taste buds somehow? I would have thought it'd have worn off. In the past I was involved with some research in which mens and womens taste perception was altered through estrogenic receptor affinity manipulation, but hell... we had Top Gear (uk version) on in the background, not like we watched The Notebook or anything lol.

Interesting. Hmmm....

Did your wife also have the IceBreakers Cool mint before she vaped the mix as well?

Yep, that's what makes me think that had something to do with it. She doesn't even like those mints, but if I get caught eating one without offering to share, well...

Just don't eat any mints before you vape a mix with flv mango in it just to be safe.

Not exactly the same, but my first thought when smelling INW 555 Gold was that it smelled like a wet dog. It was all I could ever taste for a long time. Recently got FLV Oatmeal Raisin and the smell reminded me of dog food. It’s all I can taste. First smell can fuck things up for me I guess.

TFA Turkish is my wet/dog moldy shitty hops flavor. I'm not sure if it's like that for most people as I didn't research it first. Thankfully it was only $1.29

Ah, the ol’ TFA tobacco slogan

I feel ya on the 555, my first bottle was 3+ years old, and it reminded me of a back porch rug at a dog lovers house while they were burning a hardwood in an open hearth. Convoluted, I know, but not a totally offensive aroma.

If you want to sell or trade off some of that FLV Oatmeal Raisin, give me a shout.

I’ll see how it steeps, but I will hit you up for sure if it doesn’t change. Almost scared to test it again because it was all I could taste for everything I dripped over it. Pretty sure I only did one drop in 10 ml too. Raisin Rum seems pretty tight at least.

I wonder if you would still taste/smell that off note if you vaped a juice not knowing what concentrates were used in it. I wonder if it's a psychological kind of thing, like how people struggle to shake a bad first impression of someone they meet.

To clear it up for people I'm assuming you used the same bottle before the coconut and it tastes/smells different after? Like it literally flipped the fuck you mango switch in your brain?

I'm sorry, maybe try another vendor and hope you can get a mango you can still taste.

Yep, exactly... All my other Mango flavors seem to taste fine, I've tested about 6 out of the 20+ I have.

First and foremost, you should let us know what exact flavor/brand of breath mint it was so we can either avoid it, or try it I guess... I know how a lot of people love their FLV Mango, but for some reason I'm actually a bigger fan of TFA Philippine Mango so I'd try it for science.

IceBreakers Cool Mint, in the round thing. They taste exactly like Juul Mint, so I eat them to help me with my Mint clone process believe it or not.

Not had the pleasure of trying FLV Mango yet but I use TFA Philippine Mango in a Mango Yoghurt/Lassi recipe i created and I rate it as one of the best flavours in my collection, especially in this application.

Dude.you're missing out. They all have a use in the scheme. Make that lassi with 5-6 kinds of mango and thank me later.

I think I'll pass on 5-6 kinds of Mango in a recipe but if it works for you balancing 6 Mango flavours together then you go for it. My recipe is fine with just 2.

Long time lurker, just now getting vocal in this board. I messed around with a lot of Mango Flavors, trying to perfect a Tropical Peach Smoothie flavor- anyways, I will vouch for TFA Philippine Mango. But during early experimenting, I ended up mixing "leftovers" of TFA Philippine Mango, CAP Sweet Mango, and FA Costa Rica Special to give me enough to cover a 4% Mango Mix combined with 5% TFA Juicy Peach, and 3% WF Orange Juice. It was pretty stellar. I am all for mixing common flavors- just remember the only difference between science and screwing around is writing it down.

You gotta mix them all! Then some yogurt maybe for an ultra lassi

I have not encountered that personally and hope I don't.

Could you have gotten a mislabeled batch? That doesn't really make sense to me.

Nope, it was good ol FLV Mango through the first 5ml. My initial bottle from a while ago gives the same issue. Zzzzzzzzaaappp! Me neither!

Was the word your wife said cococunt? Because i like that one

Ohh damn that's a good one, but Coco-nutfuck and Cococumsicle made the headlines!

Edit:. Technically this was my girlfriend, wife is traveling for business (supposedly). Probably with her boyfriend lol.

What are some of your juul recipes if you don't mind sharing? I have some nic salts on the way.

1 points

by king_cheefer_420almost 8 years ago

Might be a mislabel from the factory. Email the vendor and ask if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

1 points

by nuuvem_tokenalmost 8 years ago

I suspect the juul juice factor. If only because high nic/salts cause weird things to go down on your tongue.

1 points

by WorstAdviceROCalmost 8 years ago

Been using Juul since they came out, using nic-salts even before NN started selling them. Edit: Point is, I think this would've happened sooner if that was the case.

Assuming you’ve overcome your Flv mango muteness( that a word ? Lol) , how long did it end up taking? Can I ask for your Mango jul recipe plzzzz? 😬

by WorstAdviceROCover 7 years ago

Sure! FLV Peach 3%, FLV Mango 0.25-0.5%... That's it!

1 points

by WorstAdviceROCover 7 years ago

Ohh, and I can taste it, it's just never tasted "right" ever since. No worldly idea why, either.

Anyone else have some really good juul-like recipes, there's not really alot out there?
