FA substitute for TFA/TPA dx banana cream?
submitted almost 8 years ago by superfebs

I'd like to find a way to replace TPA dx banana cream with FA flavors.

I like to DIY on the cheap side, and FA flavors are much more concentrated than most US brands. With 10ml of FA is it possible to make about three times the amount of juice than with TPA flavors. Also more flavor concentration means one can choose to have more VG if s/he like so.

Reason #2 is personal, there's a shop that sells FA only stuff (it's their flagship store) nearby - I live in Italy - and I can get flavors without any S&H expenses.

Just to get some directions.. maybe adding some FA milk to FA banana could be a good starting point? Or maybe with Vienna cream?

Thanks

I stand by LA Banana Cream for my creamy banana needs. Don't know much about FA's banana flavors.

a recipe using LA Banana Cream.

Try 2% FA Banana, 1% Vienna Cream, 1% Cream Fresh, and steep anything with that in there for at least a week. However, that's going to sub for like 4% TFA Banana Cream, so you're not looking at any higher concentration.

fa banana solo was bad in my palette, usually id like to combine fa banana (just for background) with tfa banana/cap banana with 0.5% fa banana and 7% CAP or 7% TFA

Lucky you, having FA's flagship store just down the road. That would be very handy.

You just made me look up how many FA flavors I have and think on how I use them. You're right. They're good. But I don't have too many. Just giant bottles of their lemon and lime stuff because it's so useful along with the obligatory Costa Rica special mango and Fuji Apple.

First of all, sure FA is more concentrated but TFA is usually cheaper to compensate for it. Either way, some manufacturers have either a better flavor overall or a flavor with their own twist on it that makes is situationally better for some uses. That being said, FA is definitely a great company and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to make a myriad of recipes with only using their own concentrates.

First off, you should check out recipes by HIC (Head in Clouds), who normally sells his recipes for money on his site, but you can find most of his recipes posted on ELR. Just search for "HIC" and sort by rating. His recipes pretty much exclusively use FA for the most part, and most of them are really good.

Second, I've never tried FA milk but traditionally people use FA Cream Fresh and FA Vienna Cream for cream/milk from FA. I would also imagine that FA Honey would work well with those as well as a sweetener, but FA Honey is super, SUPER concentrated so you want to keep that around 0.5% or maybe even less. I'd imagine FA Cookie would also work well wih Banana, and Strawberry would also be a fantastic addition as well.

Just off the top of my head, I'd imagine I'd try something like 3% FA Banana, 1% Vienna Cream, 1% Fresh Cream and 0.25% FA Honey, for a creamy banana milk. Perhaps with 1% FA Cookie for more volume.

But in the end, most recipes I see online for banana stuff usually end up mixing a lot of different banana flavors from different manufacturers for a more authentic, fuller taste. Get all your FA needs from the nearby shop, but still would recommend that you go on Chef's Flavours and order yourself some Lauren's Flavours Banana Cream Colourless. (That is LA Banana Cream), alongside some regular TFA Banana Cream
