RF SC Review Dump!
submitted almost 8 years ago by Zermacht

So I've been just writing in my notebook, haven't quite had the time to format and post lately, so I figured I would get it all done at once. I've tried dozens of RF's SC line and here are notes/ratings for some of the ones I have used. Sorry if this should go somewhere else!

Setup: Serpent SMM with stock ni80 claptons @ 30-45w, and a naRDA with 24ga kanthal 7/8wraps @ 20-30w wicked with rayon, and/or Japanese cotton depending on day. Mod is a Fuchai200.

Hazelnut 5/10 - A decent hazelnut, has a natural fleshy taste to it, that isn't very good for a lot of uses. Definitely a decent and mixable hazelnut flavor, but nothing to write home about. FW Is better in every aspect IMO. Useable 1-5% not very strong.

Lemon Cookie 3/10 - Not a good lemon, not a good cookie, never used it after SFT. Medium strength can go to 4%.

Peanut Butter 2/10 - Ugh just don't, it's basically a weird tasting mix of peanuts and a cream. Just don't.

Apple Butter 4/10 - Much better than peanut butter on the "butter" part, still has a weird taste in there though. This one however can be salvaged if you're an apple lover. Don't go in with big expectations though. The cooked apple is solid, the rest, not so much. 1-5% here, medium strength.

Strawberry Lemonade 3/10 - Not really a good strawberry or lemonade, I didn't use this after SFT, it's not bad, it's just not good. Not very strong either. can use up to 5% easily.

Tropical Punch 4/10 - This has some merit, at .5-1.5% can be a great background to a fruit punch. Other than that, only fruit salads really apply. A "dark" style punch base, that I enjoy, but feels like it is missing something. Not very "tropical" either.

Grape 5/10 - A more candy-ish grape that tries to be realistic. Goes pretty good in fruit juice vapes, or something that needs some grape/juicy in it. Can be used 1-5%, not the best grape, but definitely has uses. The juicy part has a nice HINT of tart to it.

Animal Cookie 4/10 - HOLY CRAP this is dark! More of a rich frosting flavor with some cardboard behind it. A friend loves this concentrate, I think it's way too much, but some people might be able to use it effectively. This one is stronger than most in the RFSC line I wouldn't bring it over 2%.

Blackberry Jam With Toast 1/10 - tastes good for half a second then you wish you never vaped it. Dark as night. Avoid IMO. I can't even tell you what it tastes like besides mush with berries, had to clean my RDA after using.

Butter Pecan Pie 5/10 - Definitely has some use and life to this one, rich pecan filling, not too much pie, but a hint is there. Use sparingly, as it is strong, I wouldn't go over 3% with this one. With some AP, and some rounders, could become a decent backbone.

Ice Cream Sandwich 6/10 - Not an Ice Cream Sandwich. More of the chocolate cookie of an ice cream sandwich with hints of cream, not ice cream. Definitely has use for chocolate though. Extremely strong, and dark, a straight up coil murder. As far as just chocolates go though, it's on the better end of the spectrum. Tastes just like those chocolate cookies on an ice cream sandwich. Don't take this over 3%.

Cinnamon Roll 5/10 - This is not a cinnamon roll to me. It's more along the lines of eating the icing off the top of those white deli bear claws. Very good as a cinnamon frosting, candied style cinnamon, strong concentrate that can take over weak flavors, I wouldn't take this one high at all. Not a cinnamon that plays nice either, you will need to clean your tank/RDA after using unless you like cinnamon leftovers. Definitely has promise though. 3% or LESS.

Apple 6.5/10 - Definitely has lots of applications, kind of a mix of red and green apples, artificial, but juicy. It's no Fuji, but it definitely is a good concentrate, that goes well in candy, and fruit medleys. 1-5% is fine with this one. Not much to say about it, bit candy, little tart. pleasant and worth it, but nothing phenomenal.

Watermelon - 7/10 This one here, this has lots of uses. A nice realistic watermelon, not as juicy as one would hope though. Can definitely use some juicier fruits thrown at it to help shine. I've used it to replace, FW, and CAP double, in a few recipes to success, and have integrated fruit salad recipes with it to good results as well. If you like watermelon, you should consider picking this up for your arsenal. Used from 1-4%.

Taffy Base 7.5/10 - Woo, use this at .5-1% for some taffy notes, use at 1.5% for a backbone of solid, pretty damn delicious candy taffy(not saltwater). If you like taffy/candy, you will definitely get some use out of this. I love throwing Banana, and Orange at it.

I have a few longer form review of Mango(ew), Cucumber, Pistachio, and Lemon Tea, which are all flavors that I recommend from RFSC(minus mango). Of the ones here, I think Apple, Taffy Base, and Watermelon, are the better of the bunch, with a few other decent ones as well. The biggest standouts from RFSC, are still Cucumber, and Pistachio to me though.

The only rf sc flavors I still like are their strawberry and the watermelon. I like to mix them together at 2.5% and add 6% koolada. I agree with the completely about all the other flavors too. I was hoping for a lot lot from the Betty and toast line. None of them tasted right to me.

I'm just here to second your take on the Peanut Butter and Watermelon.

Peanut Butter = bad. Watermelon = good.

Thanks for the notes.

What peanut butter do you suggest then? I actually quite enjoyed my single flavor tester of RF at 2%

If you enjoy it, then by all means, keep enjoying it. I prefer FLV Peanut Butter, even though it's really just peanut and needs major help in the creamy department.

Also TFA Peanut Butter, but holy crap is it a bitch to work with. So real on a shake that you can feel it sticking to the roof of your mouf, but I'm sick of it's bullshit which includes fading into vague nuttiness and drying the shit out of mixes after a steep.

I keep hearing good things about LA Peanut Butter, I think I need to try that one.

Yeah I think Rinvapes suggested LA Peanut butter to me as well. I'll definitely give that a shot.

I really like their Cinnamon Custard.

Thx for your notes/ratings! So useful. I hope for your review of other manufacturers as well.

I've got 3 SC flavors sitting here too. Baja Soda, Red Energy and Blue Energy. Didn't taste much from Red Energy besides strawberry, so I'm setting my hopes low for the other two.

I'd agree with you on the lemon cookie, Taffy base, and possibly the ice cream sandwich. That one though I find reminiscent of the cheap ones that have a waxy after taste.

I found the watermelon to be a candyish kinda take, not full on jolly ranchers but not fresh watermelon. I mixed up some of it with a bit of red touch, RF SC strawberry and a bit of peach and apricot and it's almost like a bubblelicious gum thing.

While your testing the RF SC flavors then you should try the souffle lol. A very distinct buttered, plastic scrambled eggs.

RF Fruit Pebbles SC 7/10 - A fine, bottom of the bowl fruity pebbles flavor. Not leaning towards lemon as most fruity cereals tend to. Slight smooth milk note. best around 2-3%. much higher and it'll get a strange mushroom-like taste to it (I tried it up to 10%). Not a dry cereal flavor and very worth picking up for any cereal enthusiast.

It's definitely not a perfect fruity pebbles but it's damn close. Much closer than FW Fruity Flakes or various combinations of fruit rings/circles.

Mixes well with: FW Fruity flakes (low percentages - .5ish), Acetyl Pyrazine, meringue, marshmallow, Cereal 27, and most cereal staples.

For more milk: OOO Milky undertones, TFA bavarian cream, CAP sweet cream. you probably know the drill.
