As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week's flavor is: MAPLE
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested. If you're not interested in this FOTW, please take this opportunity and comment to suggest one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

So. Its interesting with maple. I seem to have a muted taste with this. I can smell it at very low levels, but ANY maple mix I have tried, DIY or commercial, I can taste it for about a day, then I'm mute to the entire mix. I have found that when its lower its not as bad, but maple flavorings seem to mute very quickly for me.
I have only REALLY worked with 2 of the maples:
FA - Maple Syrup: This is a very syruppy syrup to me. It's an artificial maple, but not a heavy maple flavor, like some Aunt Jemima's syrup. I enjoy using this one, but I've learned for me it can't over about 1% - 1.5%. I've used it higher, back before I learned I have a muted taste to maple, was using it WAY to high. Its a pretty sweet flavor, makes for a great accent.
FW - Maple: This isn't as good of a maple syrup to me. At lower %'s, I almost get a wood note to it, more of a maple wood taste, which I find odd. It's somewhat earthy and sweet, but not sugar sweet.
I did play with maple in a tobacco a while back during the original Remix Month with DiyOrDie. I have it posted here.
FA Maple Syrup is my shit! I have 3-4 recipes that use it and all of them make the room smell like warm syrup. I love it!
I get the same muting thing with FA maple. As far as purely a maple syrup, it's probably the best but it still isn't great. Not like true maple syrup.
But it does work to add some great sweetness that isn't caramel to recipes.
I wouldn't say that I get a muting effect from it, but it definitely isn't a great concentrate IMO. It adds a maple-like sweetness to my mixes, but doesn't have any of the mouthfeel. I fkin love the way it makes a room smell, though.
Hands down Bar None best maple syrup flavor out there flavor West vanilla butternut squash... I know it's not supposed to be a maple flavoring but tastes exactly like good maple syrup from Canada.
>What sap with this flavor
Was that a pun?
I guess not a very good one if you have to ask :(
I'm kind of sad that people haven't posted any actual recipes here. It's a flavor I always want to like but never use.
I have FA Maple Syrup and CAP Maple Pancake Syrup. I really don't like the CAP. Straight Mrs. Butterworth's to me. Like FA better but haven't played with it much yet.
This recipe is insanely good: Dutchie. Unfortunately, INW Waffle has been discontinued and to my knowledge no one has found an adequate replacement.
How is FLV Maple Bar?
I agree with this review: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/5bgvpw/flv_maple_bar/
But 3% is a lot of it for all but a single-flavor vape. The maple comes out more with a longer steep and I've had it be noticeable even 0.25% in a mix; it can be a bully if given time. Start at 1%ish in a mix.
I love maple! I’ve been trying to recreate a recipe from a now defunct little company, Nitrovapes that I loved. They had a maple cream that was very good - light maple flavor and Bavarian cream I think. My adv is a maple tobacco: 2% TPA maple syrup 3% TPA RY4 double 1% TPA tobacco 1.5 % ethyl maltol
Needs to steep a while for the tobacco to mellow out
I need me some maple..
Does anyone else get a maple flavor from TFA Belgian Waffle? I use it in a "Straffle" recipe I came up with. Tastes more like syrup than waffle.
Yes, too much maple flavor from it, IMO. But the TFA Waffle (not belgian) is even worse. It tastes like a vaping a bottle of Ms. Butterworth's - plastic bottle and all.
Bleh, thanks for letting Dodge that bullet. Btw my favorite juice I have made so far is a honeysuckle ice cream(very much based on Longing). I have wanted to try it since I seen it win diy or die comp.
Thank you.
