Best way to make PG free juice?
submitted almost 8 years ago by 52017

Have a severe allergy to PG. Been buying 30ml bottles of 100% VG juice for $23 a pop locally. Getting way too expensive.

Are there any PG flavors out there I can buy to add to some pure VG?

I understand PG helps carry the flavor, but I actually like lighter flavors so I think it won't be a big deal.

I find most juices too sweet/rich so I can probably literally just add a touch of some flavoring to some pure VG and be fine.

Thanks for reading.

The greater majority of flavours are suspended in PG. You could just buy any flavour, add it to 100% VG at X nicotine concentration and vape away but... There are companies that have higher concentrations of the flavour molecules in their flavours. I wish I could word that better. In my experience Capella and FlavorWest are weaker than Inawera and Flavorah, meaing you'd need to put more PG in to get the same flavor. Do a bit of research and maybe ask around for high concentration flavours/Flavour Companies.

Medicine Flower would be your best bet by far in my opinion. They do a legitmate extraction of the flavour molecules from whatever flavour they are making. From their website:

>We do NOT sell so-called "Natural Flavors" (also known as "Natural Analogs") which are actually synthesized in a lab. All of our products are made from the material named on the label

They also aren't suspended in PG meaning you can add as much as you want without blowing your lungs off or whatever happens. They are quite expensive though but they're extremely concentrated. You'll likely need to dilute them in VG then add them.

Obviously try to buy VG based nic if you're into that. Good luck!

Stupid edit: PG does carry flavours but not really that much. I too, perfer lighter flavours. I don't like what PG does to the quality of the vapour itself. It makes it feel thin and sickly to me.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of reaction to pg do you experience?

Headache and nausia. Tried no nic, more water, etc etc. PG jacks me up real good.

Medicine flower, Real Flavors, Liquid barn makes some VG dominant flavors too if you can handle a little bit of pg. Other than that you could find very potent flavors like mint's/menthol's and add to vg at 1-3% and call it good.

Medicine Flower extracts are wondeful. I'm using them for the first time recently but my favorite defunct company, Open Source Vapors, swore by them and you can tell why: extracts get flavors perfect in ways synthetic flavors miss. You won't get a flavor 'punch' as readily without PG but none of their extracts are in PG or any carrier, maybe just a little residual alcohol for certain extractions.

I've never tried them but lotus flavors over on ecigexpress claim to be preservative free and non-diluted.

If you hunt around a bit, you might find some VG based flavours - they are pretty rare though.

Secondly, if you're vaping a pure VG juice, you might run into wicking problems as VG is so much thicker than PG - you can dilute your VG with around 5% distilled water to thin it out a bit. More than 5% you will start tasting the water - which is not horrible, just not very pleasant.

Also if you look into DIY VG you can probably get VG for a lot cheaper than $23 for 30ml

Could get some propanediol, but if OP doesn't mind muted flavors might not be worth it

PG Free, but not sure if it's always just VG instead.

You're correct, perhaps not VG but PG free so it might suit him nevertheless.

If you find a good source out there to order vg-based flavorings let me know. I'm not too sensitive to PG but my mom and sister are, they haven't given up the analogs yet because they don't like the throat hit PG brings. When I make max VG they like it a lot better but still get throat irritation. I'd like to get some pure VG flavors/recipes to see if I can hook them.
