A friendly reminder to all Canadians who DIY -Now might be a good time to stock up on nicotine
submitted almost 8 years ago by nanosec

I am no expert on Bill S-5 but I have heard from others that the sale of nicotine will not be allowed to the general public. There will be an approved list of people who will be able to purchase nicotine legally. (ISO 9000 certified manufacturers) If somebody has heard differently than this, please do share. Bill S-5 has had it's second reading last week.

Remains to be seen what will happen exactly, I think. Health Canada had a notice recently which stated:

> 1. Vaping liquids containing equal to or more than 66 mg/ml (6.6%) nicotine meet the classification of "very toxic" under the CCCR, 2001 and will be prohibited from import, advertising or sale under section 38 of the CCCR, 2001.

> 2. Vaping liquids containing between 10 mg/ml (1.0%) and less than 66 mg/ml (6.6%) nicotine meet the classification of "toxic". These will be required to be sold in child-resistant containers and labelled in accordance with the CCCR, 2001.

One might contend that a 100mg/ml nic solution isn't a 'vaping liquid' until it's combined and diluted, but it would still be more than "very toxic" with regards to consumer chemicals. I do wish there was more clarity either way, especially with the advent of new products since they started planning this stuff (salt nic, low output devices mainly aimed at salt nic).

As it stands I hope I can still get 48mg/ml which is what I usually use, without a huge impact on price due to importers being restricted on getting higher concentrations and diluting it for people like me.

a under bill s-5 we'd be looking at 65mg being the new max. nothing i've seen in it so far speaks to an approved list for purchase under that amount.

I accidentally ordered 120ml of 100mg, instead of 60ml last time I ordered. Should be set for months.

I don't know about him, but if I was Canadian I'd be purchasing at least a couple liters of 100mg/ml to decant into smaller bottles and put in the deep freezer to last me a couple years or until it goes bad.

Already did that, when I saw what S-5 said.

When is this bill supposed to be passed?

The timeline is uncertain. Many are speculating it will happen sometime in the next 6 to 12 months.

Thanks for the tip. Could anyone suggest the best place for Nic and flavours in Canada? I think the place I've been using dilutes the flavours.

Where have you been buying your flavours from? DIY-ejuice and The Broke Vaper and Best Glycol are all reputable suppliers of both nic and flavouring here in Canada.

I've been using BrewtimeVapor.com located In Hamilton Ontario. Seem like a reseller the address on Google shows some sketchy apartment building.

Best Gylcol looks great, awesome pricing. One thing i didnt see is what the shipping cost would be from Best Gylcol. Any experience with this?

Shipping for my last order with Best Glycol was $25 but that was very reasonable considering I ordered 4 liters of VG and 4 liters of PG plus about ten 60ml bottles of flavouring. I checked the shipping label and they charged me the actual cost that Canada Post charged them. So they are very reasonable and don't upcharge over CP's cost. As you know however, CP is pretty expensive for us Canucks. I always try to maximize my orders so I get the best bang for my shipping buck.
