My organizing tackle is perfectly suited to classic 30ml height. These PET “Unicorns” are all wrong. And the short fatties that will fit are unfuckably tight to remove the droppers. Guess BCF is telling me to go to weight mixing...
Anyone else worked out a solution to removing these tops? The skinny ones aren’t bad but the fatties, ugh. I hate these things. You think they’ll go back to the old ones if enough grief is given them?

Further update:
I ended up ordering the “reddit special” scale and am currently in the process of moving to mixing by weight so tips at least should be fine going forward. Still sucks I can’t fit them in the usual location but given that it looks like it’s a temporary thing, I can’t complain much. Plus I got myself into mixing by weight as a bonus.
It took a bit of trial an error with non dropper top items (PG, VG), and so I’m still using a syringe to more easily regulate those things so I don’t “over add” but all in all, I feel like it is gonna be a pretty easy conversion. I left out a weight in my calculator app (Ejuice Me Up), weight of 1ml of water/pga which I never use and it messed up one of my recipes, my pride and joy ADV actually but I was able to fix it / dog it up from archive as well as hex editor and catastrophe was avoided.
Jeff told me yesterday that was temporary (I didn't ask for details). He said future bottles will be the old ones we were used to.
FWIW, I rebottled mine right off since it wouldn't reseal properly.
Edit: Don't know about the "short fatties", never tried to remove a tip.
Almost burst a vein in my forehead when I opened my Halloween order. I have a deep burning hatred of PET Unicorn bottles, and almost all my 30mls were in those. I'm glad to hear it's a temporary thing, because this was honestly enough for me to start looking for a new go to vendor.
Luckily for me I had only ordered one bottle, so that didn't hurt too bad to robottle. Glad it wasn't a big order like yours. He replied early next morning apoligized and said they dont even own anymore of those demon bottles.
I kinda like the short fatties although I haven't needed to take the tops off. The regular unicorns I am not a fan of though.
Heh, that’s why you don’t mind them, I assure you. Maybe I should get onto mixing by weight. I’m just so invested in my recipes by volume. Hate to lose something in the conversion (not that I couldn’t got back of course).
You shouldn’t be losing anything. You should still be using percentages regardless. There’s nothing to “convert.” You are just measuring it a different way.
Heh. You know what, I kind of feel like an idiot here. I don't think I've ever thought of it in that way that I solidified the idea in my head that it's that easy. So the relative weights of flsvorants and other base are close enough that you just base out your final weight and then work out the rest in math? Haha! Man. I need a scale.
I can see that being a pain if mixing by volume. I mixed by volume years ago and it in itself was a hassle, I'm not going to tell you one way is better than the other but for myself mixing by weight just easier.
I know it’s got to be. I don’t know why I’m so hesitant to it. My system works well enough so I know what I know and I guess my old man is coming out. However, I’m sure if I would just get around to it I’d be singing the same praises everyone else is. What resolution scale do you use?
I know the other user explained that your really won't be losing anything in your recipes, but I just wanted to say I had the same concern when I switched to weight. They were baseless. All my recipes taste the same and I can mix a 120ml in about 90 seconds compared to 5 minutes with syringes. Go for it!
I had a leaky flavoring that was in a unicorn bottle on my last order. I've never been a fan of the bottles anyway, but they don't fit in my boxes and they can't be trusted to lay down either. Tip removal is also kind of a bitch.
Best thing to do is send them an email from the "contact us" page at the bottom, hopefully enough complaints will keep these crappy bottles from hanging around very long.
Can you post some pics?
You got me curious. I have a box on the counter right now but haven't opens it yet. Now I gotta do it.
Edit: yup I'm pissed. My wife bought me an old spinning cabinet for nail polish thatfit 30ml bottles perfectly. Don't think these new unicorn bottles will work well at all!
Yep, same with me. Wife took me... Container Store shopping and boy howdy, did the find some things. Fishing ain't got shit on sewing tackle. Luckily I have a box I bought for 120ml large formats but the organization is all wrong and they're barely fitting as is so I will have to make some adjustments.
When I mixed by volume I stuck the needle into the tip of the bottle.
I think mine are 14g and wouldn't fit when I tried this but I could try here on these as well.
I'm pretty sure I was using the 16g. Some of the tips spread a little bit, but it gave a great seal. I'd turn the syringe upside down so I could push the air bubbles back into the bottle, never spilled a drop :) good luck
I really like the bottles (for finished product ejuice) but they don't work in my existing organizational system for flavors. I'm having to lay them horizontally and I don't like that. I only have like 5 of them now so I will just rebottle them. Glad to hear that this is only temporary.
Yeah, I'll be emailing them and politely telling them we're not huge fans and I will hint at what I've heard in hopes of getting some more confirmation that it's temporary.
Yeah I wasn't thrilled when I opened my Halloween order and found that most of my 30 mL flavors were in unicorn bottles. I love them for my recipes that are in my current vaping rotation but they have to be ldpe so I can run them thru the dishwasher. To be fair I haven't tried mixing with them yet. I guess it shouldn't matter since I mix by weight anyway. Storage isn't really an issue either because I use shelves with plenty of height rather than bins. But it still just bugged me. Apparently I am one of those people who doesn't like change!
I will tell you what I hate tho, and that's FLV bottles. You'd think a company that puts so much into the quality of their flavors would put a little more into their packaging. The little disc pieces pop out, they don't seal, and my ginger leaks so bad I don't dare shake it up before I add it to a recipe. I am going to have to invest in some 30 mL plastic bottles on my next order and transfer all of my FLV flavors.
You have a good point about the FLV bottles. Man, they are shit. I’d never thought about the washer for the LDPE bottles. What about the tips? How do you keep those where you want to keep them? Hey r do you wash those separately?
The tips I just soak in hot water for a day or two. I change the water several times a day and then give them a good long rinse under hot tap water. I have thought about maybe putting them in a tea ball and putting it in the dishwasher but haven't tried that yet.
I do not wash the bottles separately. I just rinse them out two or three times and toss them in the top rack with a load of regular dishes.
Please post some pictures of the new bottles.
What's the "Reddit special" scale? I bought myself a cheap eBay scale that measures by 0.01g, but if it makes a difference if I buy something more expensive, I'm up for getting one down the line — especially if I'm making larger batches of something.
I dunno really, it just seems to be the one recommended. You may already have all that’s needed but this is the one I got.
