Tips on DIYing with Nicotine Salts?
submitted almost 8 years ago by QuestForVapology

I've been mixing for a couple of years, and just got into the nicotine salt game to help get my girlfriend and friends off the Juul pod$.

I know my way around flavor %s with regular nic, but using 50mg Nicotine Salt is a different animal. My regular recipes come out muted and all I taste is the nic salt. I read on posts I have to up the flavor %, but, in a lot of situations, upping the flavoring makes the flavor too chemical/perfume-y.

Does anyone have any tips on mixing with salt? Which flavors work best with salt, and which to stay away from?

Just make simple recipes. 50/50 PG VG ... Even 60% PG

Couple of recipes

Tobacco

  • 4% FLV red Burley

  • 1% FA oak

  • 0.5% INW dirty neutral base

Mango

  • 3% FLV mango

  • 2% CAP sweet mango

Berry

  • 3% FA forest fruit

  • 1% FW blueberry

  • 1% FA strawberry

Keep it simple, make small batches and keep testing

Imo the juul tastes like Nicotine with a hint of other stuff. A tiny atomizer like that will never be able to give you amazing flavor.

Wayne recently posted a nice article about this: https://diyordievaping.com/2017/10/17/mixing-for-closed-system-devices/

Tl;dr: vibrant 1 or 2 note flavorings that really pack a punch allow for the best flavor in a nic salt blend.

Thanks, that helped a lot!

For other people trying to do the same thing as me and want to specifically re-create the Juul liquid--Juul uses 70pg/30vg, not 50pg/50vg as specified in the post.

I just got in some NN salts and I really can’t get over the taste. It is a bit like burnt rubber and a bit like medical cleaner. I was hoping for the zero taste like regular nic but wow. I haven’t been able to find any flavors combinations that mask that flavor.

Unfortunately no. I had high hopes for the nic river salts, but it still had a subtle yet distinct flavor.

There was a thread here within the last 3 weeks on this topic. I can't type all that again, so browse, and read. Good luck!
