As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week's flavor is: CAKE INCLUDING PANDORO
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested. If you're not interested in this FOTW, please take this opportunity and comment to suggest one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

People get triggered whenever i say it here but i love me some FW Yellow Cake. i asked for some three flavor mixes and /u/ID10-T put together this list:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/6uhdjb/weekly_suggest_a_recipe_for_my_flavors_thread/dluk6dx/
I've made most of them and lots of modifications and nearly all have been good, several really good.
My favorite by far is Cake Cookie. One of my ADV's.
- 6% Cap Sugar Cookie
- 3% Cap Vanilla Custard
- 1.5% FW Yellow Cake
Would love to find 1+ flavors to make that even better if anyone has ideas.
Been messing with FLV Red Velvet and am kinda disappointed by it. Maybe because I was expecting it to be like the pinnacle of holiness that is FLV Chocolate Deutsch. The flavor from Red Velvet is pretty spot on but it completely lacks the density that Chocolate Deutsch brings. It doesn't have a very strong cake base at 3% and the chocolate flavor seems to be lacking. It's actually just kinda lacking in strength in general for such a high percentage. With that said it's still a good flavor to achieve a red velvet cake flavor it just needs some help it seems.
I've praised Chocolate Deutsch quite a bit and one of the main complains I see with Chocolate Deutsch is the coconut flavor. Which is odd to me as German Chocolate Cakes has coconut in it. But, because of this, it makes it really hard to use in a mix; which is where the complains come from. It's a fantastic solo flavor but the coconut spear heads itself into almost exclusively being a solo flavor. Besides adding a frosting flavor your options are pretty limited but using it at 1.5% is magical so I'll take what I can get.
This FOTW reminded me that I bought FA Pandoro a while ago and only tested it once. I'm hoping some people can speak on that flavor as I seemed to not have a very enjoyable first time experience with it. This flavor seems to be ungodly sweet at 1.5% or is it just me? I mixed with some INW Lemon Cake and was blown away on how sweet it was. I found it completely off putting and couldn't vape anymore of the tester after a few pulls. I've been meaning to try it again at .75% and see if I can make it more palatable.
Here's a link to my remix of mlnikon's (I think) LMN.
You may not like it, but I kinda like it.
Pandoro must steep for a month. It has a very heavy, chemical taste before then. But man, once that goes away, it's ungodly rich. It has a lemonish taste initially that fades with a steep. It's great for pairing with fruits though, provides a lot of seperation in a recipe. I'm on LMN#3 with FLV Frosting, CAP Vanilla Cupcake, and less INW Lemon cake, as the INW is killer strong for me, seemingly moreso than others.
Edit:With that said, I'm not happy with my above recipe in the link. It needs more top note sweetness.
I've not tried Pandoro yet but I've got a tester steeping. At 2.5%. Sounds like that's going to be enough to turn me into Wilford Brimley.
I've seen a lot of people use it at 3% solo so I thought I was being conservative with it. Who knows, maybe it's just me.
It's a bit outdated because there are so many new cake flavors available now - such as JF, CAP, and PUR Yellow Cakes, several new FW cakes, a trio of WFs, FA Labyrinth, and a couple from FLV, to name a few - but there's still some great looking stuff in this old Cake FOTW.
Can you add cereal again to the list? The original one is over a year old and has a lot of deleted posts in it. Plus, we have quite a few new cereal flavors that weren't out at the time.
It's on there between Lime and Orange
ok now add Feijoa, thanks. Somewhere near the top would be nice xx
Yellow cake is good but it is a coil killer. I stick to my vanilla cupcake with one-on-ones milky undertone some hazelnut some fresh cream. I do have some cap cake batter that's pretty good but I still add in the milk and cream. A drop of butter always adds fullness of flavor to cake.
I could've sworn there was/was going to be an FOTW for Pandoro. Did it get combined into this one for cakes in general? I went over the list a few times and don't see it but I swear it's listed as upcoming in quite a few of the old FOTW posts.
I love FA Pandoro and use way too much of it. Would be interesting seeing what others who dare use it have came up with.
Fixed that for you.
I have a tester steeping of it.
<3 you
Holy moly I can tell why you use way too much of it. Stuff is damned delicious. These days unless I'm really having trouble figuring something out it's unlikely I'll ever get around to finishing a 10ml sample of something. There are just too many flavors and recipes and works in progress to vape. But I'm for sure going to finish every last bit of this one. Yum!
1.5% FA Pandoro and 3% INW lemon cake makes for a very rich and moist pound cake with a hint of poppy seed. I've been making that mix for a couple years and it never gets old. It does tend to be a pretty cloudy mix and anything above 75%VG causes separation so I don't recommend doing a Max vg mix unless you want to shake the hell out of the bottle every time you use it. I've added LA CCI to the mix at .5-1% and it gives a nice iced glaze effect to the lemon, but gets weird after about a week.
Since FW Yellow Cake is a demon, destroyer of coils, I've been having really good luck using JF Yellow Cake as a replacement. I'm really curious to see what other cakes people have had success with.
Also if you're looking for a good cake donut, JF Yellow Cake combos really well with FA Zeppola (2.5% JF Yellow Cake, 4% FA Zeppola). That's been my experience anyway.
I actually have been liking pur yellow cake and rf deep fried sponge cake as a yellow cake replacement for people who don't want to vape fructose.
Have you tried JF Yellow Cake? How does PUR Yellow Cake compare? I've only used JF as a replacement but keep seeing mentions for PUR's version so it's got me wondering if I should pick that up.
Just tried them side by side. The PUR is nice but has less cakey texture than JF. I'd probably choose JF 9 times out of 10 for an actual yellow cake recipe, not that that the PUR, which is sweeter and smoother, isn't probably a great ingredient.
What’s people’s options on fa nonnas cake?
I would like to request ginger as a future FOTW. I have FLV, FW, and HS and can provide some meaningful discussion on those three. I suppose it could be ginger and gingerbread for wider appeal. It's entirely possible I am the only person in the world that is obsessed with straight up ginger.
