I know it's a bit early but because of steep times... Christmas juices?
submitted almost 8 years ago by Fazy89

I know it's halloween but is it too early to start talking about Christmas recipes?

I want to make some Christmas flavours to get them steeped in time for December, I'm planning to make a good liter or so of various flavours to share between me, my family and a few friends but for the life of me I can't find any Mulled wine recipes.

Does anyone have any they'd be willing to share?

LB White Chocolate Peppermint tastes like Christmas to me.

I haven't tried it yet but will definitely be mixing this up for the holidaze: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/51359#w_c_peppermintington_cookies_by_fear

Edit: Here's your mulled wine recipe:

LB White Chocolate Peppermint. A bit of FW VBIC and FW White Chocolate as a boost. A bit of TFA Marshmallow to fill it with a splash of FA Meringue to sweeten.

The other way you can use it is with some FLV Creme de menthe and use your favourite mouth feel add-ons like TFA Bav Creme or Marshmallow.

Any recommendations for a sub for Cinnamon Ceylon?

Seems to be another hard to find flavor in the UK.

Edit: Nevermind, found it on Chefs Flavours.

FLV Fire Cinnamon, probably at the same %, maybe a little higher than the 0.5% Cinnamon Ceylon used in the recipe (0.6%? 0.75? Not sure).

But, here it is in the UK: https://www.chefsflavours.co.uk/flavourart-concentrates/2077-cinnamon-ceylon.html

Yeh, sorry, I always forget about Chefs Flavours.

I second this. Not only is this one of the best flavors available on the market, its perfect for the holidays. Beware though, you may not love it as much if you don't like a bit of that menthol/peppermint feel.

I’ll probably be officially releasing this tomorrow. I’ve been working on it on and off since July, and I’m testing it for all day potential today, but so far it is looking like it’s finally done. Maybe not exactly what you were looking for, but that’s what I got. Also working on a creamy chestnut tobacco, but that’s not quite ready yet.

How present is the tobacco in the humbug recipe? I'm definitely intrigued by it but I'm not at all a fan generally of tobacco flavours.

To me it’s not crazy strong, but I tend to like my tobaccos pretty strong. I get more of the gingerbread custard out of it with a little bit of kick from the tobacco.

Both sound amazing.

That chestnut one might be ready in time for next Christmas haha. Whole lotta tweaking to be done. The Humbug I’ve been really liking though.

Haven't tried it myself but I would assume adding some "pumpkin spice" to a wine-like base (and maybe some cinnamaldehyde to give it some heat) might give you a sort of mulled wine flavour.

Maybe adding a bit of raisin in there too to sweeten it up some.

EDit: "Pumpkin spice?" Yeah. That's usually just a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of clove. Maybe some ginger depending on the source but I know TFA's has/d a decent one.

(But I'm not an expert. I'm just spit-balling atm.)

TFA Holiday Spice. As they note, it's nutmeg heavy (so perhaps not perfect for this, but great for "eggnog" or something along those lines).

I do a "Vanilla Spice" with 0.5% FA Cardamom and 0.3% TFA HS plus whatever vanillas you like (I usually mix FA Madagascar, INW Vanilla Shisha, TVA Vanilla Swirl in various percentages for ~6% total).

GermanFlavours has a mulled wine that is supposed to be good. Personally I would want clove in there too, FLV Clove is probably your best bet.

I saw this in my search but I'm having no luck finding anywhere in the UK selling the Glühwein concentrate unfortunately.

INW Shisha Punch is supposed to be a good seasoning additive for a cider or mulled wine. I have it but haven't used it yet. Supposed to be very potent stuff so go light.

yes it is very aggressive. I would use it at like 1 drop per 10 ml

I got a couple that are "seasonal", one being a mulled cider, but not mulled wine. Fruit Relish and Elderflower Cider. They are both pretty good in my opinion.

According to HiC FA's Vienna Cream at higher percentages makes for a decent simple egg nog.

I've mixed single flavor Vienna Cream at 5% and when I tried it the first thing that came to mind was eggnog. Just needs a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon.

Hmm does flv pastry zest have those spices in it? I might have to do some experimenting and try a simple eggnog flavor for the holidays.

Inawera has got egg nog flavour, it's even good enough to make it in a single (and would only gain in the recipes).

Not very much steep time on this, maybe a day or two for it to turn a light pink color. I've been ADVing this for weeks, but it still feels like it might be missing something.

Kringle Kane

Ingredient|% :---|---: Creme de Menthe (TPA)|3.00 Holy Vanilla (DIYFS)|1.50 Marshmallow (TPA)|1.00 Peppermint (TPA)|5.00 Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA)|2.50 WS-23 30%|1.50 Flavor total|14.5%

I've been vaping this MTL in my Nautilus 2 and Siren V2. Might want to tone down the WS-23 and possibly the mints if you plan on DTLing this. Not sure where to go from here with this one.

I know FLV Creme de Menthe is considered better than TFA's offering, but for my own personal tastes I don't like the chocolate note in FLV's.

I'd like to make it creamier and a bit sweeter without making it cloying or using actual sweeteners. Maybe adding in some sort of white chocolate might bring it to the next level.
