SweetLeaf Sweet Drops SteviaClear Review
submitted almost 8 years ago by Incubus13417

So I've been using this stuff for a few weeks to add a little sweetness to my juices, usually at a 0.5-1% in stuff like Best Damn Pink Lemonade. I find it doesn't work as well in creams, but it's not bad in fruity flavors. As for coil life, this stuff seems about as good as it gets. I really don't notice much difference between adding it and not with regards to my coils, and this seems like it would make sense as I've read Rebaudioside has a flash point of 1200+ making it a compound that vaporizes well before the caramelization point, and this temp would likely not be reached while vaping.

Unfortunately at higher percentages (EDIT: >1%, imo), it begins to take on a chemical taste. But this brand seems to work quite well for DIY liquids.

When you say 'at higher percentages' you mean '>1'? Just curious if the range you specified was the only usable range.

Other than that, nice review.

Yep, that's precisely what I mean. Anything over 1% tends to add unwanted flavor without adding noticeable sweetness, in my experience, but I'm also a little sensitive to that flavor from stevia, and have trouble when using it in drinks.

Cool, thanks. Still... I guess I should try to find pure xylitol somewhere...

I actually have a bag of pure Xylitol sweetener, and may make a solution to try it out. Xylitol has a super chemically taste in my past experience with using it in my iced tea that I drink, but it's worth a chance.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

Buy fucking CAP Super Sweet, TFA Sweetener, or FW Sucralose for fuck's sake. Why are we putting fucking grocery items in our juice.

~~Did you even read the ingredients in that shit? Silica. Fucking Silica. The shit that gives chronic bronchial illness to people around active volcanos. Fucking SAND. You're vaping fucking sand. And quartz.~~

~~This is either a great troll, or the most ill-informed and dangerous post I've seen here in my 2 years being a moderator.~~

~~It's been 398 days, but god damnit, if this isn't the most worthy post I've seen. https://www.reddit.com/r/shitty_DIY_eJuice/comments/76vwtl/lets_vape_glass/~~

Mistake on my behalf, thanks /u/Apexified. My first statement still stands, however.

FYI Silica is in the powdered version as an anti-caking agent. It's not in the liquid version.

You do realize they sold sucralose at the grocery store to use in food long before before anyone sold it as a solution to put into ejuice, right? And that all a sucralose solution is, is just that. A solution containing only sucralose. Doesn't seem like CAP or TFA are the only people in the whole damn world who are capable of making a usable solution. Give me some pure sucralose powder and I'll make the exact same thing they do.

Yes I do, but it has been vetted and established, used in juices since vaping has been around. And the sources I mentioned for sucralose are designed for vaping; not containing any of the additives that grocery items often do. That's why a general rule is to not put anything you get from the local grocery into ejuice.

Sucralose is a single chemical, with no flavor other than sweetness; stevia is an extract, and has many different volatiles that add flavors besides sweetness. I rescinded my statement about danger, but it's much better to use a sucralose sweetener than stevia due to how clean the flavor is.

Yeah I'll agree it does have a better flavor, but the reason I like Stevia is because it doesn't caramelize. While some of this stuff definitely has been around longer, I'm not really sure anything we vape has been fully "vetted" by any means. I haven't seen studies on any type of sweetener, let alone Sucralose vs. Rebaudioside A. Ganted the flavor may not be as good, but when it's the difference in changing coils every 2 days vs every 2 weeks, then it might be a better option for some people.

I mean if you're worried about Stevia leaf extracts because it's not a single compound, you may want to go look at the ingredients list for TFA as stuff like TFA Strawberry has "strawberry essence" listed in the components. You don't seem averse to things like that for some reason, but with the same logic should be. You mention that these TFA/CAP/FW flavors are "designed for vaping" which I'll go ahead and say is probably incorrect. They're designed for use in food, not ejuice, as these things were all around many years before ejuice was ever invented. None of them are 'designed' for vaping, they're just used for it.

Well the lead acetate didn't sweeten it enough, so I thought I'd try stevia...
