Has anyone tried the new Capella silver line?
submitted almost 8 years ago by ShittyStrawman

In intrigued to be honest, I've ordered 4 of them (bears, fish, biscuit, Blackcurrant) so I'll post notes on here. They're super cheap, so if nice they'll be a steal.

Peegore has some early reviews that are worth reading.

The naming they used on these is brilliant and this is an amazing marketing and strategic business move for capella.

First, they give the line the silver name. It basically accomplished two things in one word: desirable, but less expensive. Silver is a precious metal albeit second to gold, which I believe they went with to indicate the lower price point.

A lot of the flavours they offer are flavours everyone use in multiple recipes. If not, they're still smart choices of flavours that people want that haven't been made great yet. Most of these will be regular reorders because they're relatively versatile.

I think they're making a push to grab more of this growing market of DIYers.

All of this obviously dependent on their strength and flavor. I haven't tried then yet..

What makes the silver line different from the original?

According to Capella marketing, they are able to make these flavors in-house rather than having another or other companies manufacture them for them, and that's why they're a little cheaper.

Received the biscuit flavour a couple of days ago. Tastes like a UK digestive

omg, I'm all over this. I'm doing the keto diet at the moment, so biscuits are off the menu. Can't wait to try this with a cup of tea. 😀

Vaping has kept me from cheating while on keto so many times! They work together so well.

How is the Keto diet working out for you? I've lost half a stone in a month. Not sure if that's slow going or not.

after 2 years of a ketogenic diet i'd say vaping is definitely a good option for a sweet fix.

Using the sl biscuit I've successfully managed to recreate the custard cream in vape form!

That sounds so delicious. Growing up in Lebanon, we always had some on hand for tea or as an ingredient for a dessert. This will definitely be in my next order. Thanks!

Works well in a cheesecake recipe as a replacement to Graham crust

I've tried the Butter Pecan. Tastes nice and I would recommend it to someone who likes their butter pecan.

How is it compared to FW Butter Pecan?

3 points

by LimeDrivealmost 8 years ago

I'd say it's maybe a little lighter and not as rich and "unhealthy" tasting as FW. I get a pecan taste with some desserty buttery sweetness.

They say FW needs a good 2-3 weeks to steep, while this one seems pretty good right away. I made a recipe with both at 2% and they combined to make a super butter pecan flavor.

I bought the sample line and made a bunch of yolo recipes along with single flavor testers. I'm sure flavor reviews will be coming soon from the great folks in here but if I need to step up I'll try to contribute something.

Yolo recipes?

Just eyeballing what seems like a good amount to use in a recipe based on experience using similar flavors.

Wait, fish? Am I missing something?

1 points

by ShittyStrawmanalmost 8 years ago

It's called 27 fish, named after "Swedish fish" gummy candy sold in the states. From what I understand it's basically a gummy berry flavour ✌️

Haha, I noticed that bear was another flavor and thought that might be the case. Hope it turns out well man! It sounds like the Silver Line is all based on types of candy?
