FA Mango issues? or is it all me?
submitted almost 8 years ago by RandallFlagg1Proud Sidebar Reader!

So I mixed up Oh my mango, very excited to try it and it tastes like light mango with a heavy dose of eucalyptus. It actually tastes what imagine mango vicks vapor rub would taste like. Being that this (Mango FA) was the only favor I had not had experience with I just dropped 1 drop on my tongue and it is indeed the culprit. There was no sweetness to the mango and barely any mango flavor at all, for comparisons sake I took a drop of FLV and it was much more Mango.

I created some test batches; 6%, 3% FA and 6% Sweet mango CAP, 6% Mango FLV. Can taste mango on both others, just not much mango in the FA. I had to stop because the eucalyptus taste was burning out my sense of flavor for now. I can barely taste anything right now. I searched around for flavor reviews to see if anyone else was feeling the same way but didn't come up with much.

I have already sent a message to BCF but maybe it's just me? Any thoughts?

Never use more than 1% FA Mango and only use that if you want that piney taste that you get when you cut a mango too close to the peel.

Well I actually tried Oh my Mango based on one of your posts. It has 2% FA mango in it, maybe I'll just skip it next time. I was hoping to get a fantastic mango taste, maybe your mango colada without the "colada" part.

But all this recipe does for me is make me gag.

You should try /u/ID10-T's Tamamango which is a remix of Oh my Mango.

Ah, that's what I needed, I will give that a shot later. At least I know now that it's 1% max.

Not a fan of mango, but I believe FLV Mango is the preferred mango to use. Maybe blend a few different mangoes together at varying percentages to come up with the profile that works best for you? And 6% seems really high...

Oh yes, there was only 2% in the recipe, I just wanted to check the taste of it, and make sure this it what was causing the issue in the recipe. I bumped it up for testing only. FLV at 6% was a nice mango taste, but lacking something.

Did you by any chance get any... pine tree from the cap sweet mango when you tested it solo? All I get is pine tree from that one... it sounds like I'm getting a really similar experience to what you are getting from FA.

Funny, i get pine tree from the INW Mango. Havent even dared trying it out yet, it smelled like straight up gin.

I haven't vaped the mix yet (with a clean wick), but 1 drop on the tongue was similar but less strong than FA.

Also, I can't use koolada. Even at .25% it overwhelms the mix and all I can taste are chemicals.

No, what I meant was that at 6% I suspect you're on the downside of the flavor curve, and have actually been losing flavor. I know other flavors can fall off a cliff over a certain percentage, and some drastically change at fairly low percentages. Again, I can't really be certain since I don't use mango, but I strongly suspect this is what has happened. And FA has more than one flavor best used in the sub one percent range, that could be the case with mango.

No, that makes sense. I have no idea why I decided to mix at 3% and 6% when 2% was too high... Next time I will try .5% then up to 1%. At least worse case scenario this post will serve as a warning not to mix FA Mango too high.

Personally, I like the CAP mango mixed with TFA mango. The CAP mango has that slight 'piney' flavor that you get from mango flesh just under the skin while the TFA is more plain mango. The CAP is a bit too piney for me but the two mixed together tastes very authentic (IMHO).

I'm not a fan of FA Mango personally. It's a bit too earthy for me. I don't get menthol from it though. My preferred mango so far has been Capella Sweet Mango. Flavorah is good too.
