Dr. Fog (which is some dude in the basement of my local b&m) made a root beer. Only tried it once and nearly threw up because it was my moms at 18 mg nic and probably spiked more. I'm sure it would be decent without all of that nic. I can see if he'll share some info on it.

Bruh! Dr. Fog is a legend! I swear every flavour I’ve had from that line is stellar, just way to expensive. Their Root Beer Float is literally the juice I used for weeks to quit smoking.

Good to hear! I know his alchemy something line is absolutely killer. I've actually been afraid to try the dr fog line. Not for a legitimate reason but the bottles and labels are so bright that I'm afraid of sweetener and it reminds me of this cleaner we used to have lmao. Can you recommend a flavor from that line for me that stands out? Thought about agent orange but not sure if I could go through a bottle of orange.

One time I ran out of juice, and the bodega I went to only had 'apple' in 3mg. I figured it couldn't be too bad.

I thought I was vaping apple-scented hand cleaner, it was so bad. Must've been max PG or something, too, because it was watery and brutal on the throat.

Been trying to make a good rootbeer for months now..

The most successful mix shake and vaped like rootbeer barrels and 2 week steeped like flat RC cola.

by Wizzle-Stickabout 8 years ago

i wonder if it is the lack of the carbonation effect that kind of makes it bleh. wonder if theres a way to simulate that (for lack of better descriptor) flavor/sensation.

1 points

by DisneyMadeMeDoItabout 8 years ago

I really doubt that that's the issue as root beer flavored candy is still fantastic.

We can simulate tea so it's very strange that root beer is such an issue.

Have you tried LB Root Beer? It is solid.

Root Beer Float by TFA is decent, it's reliant on the vanilla though - I haven't been able to get a good solo root beer either

One Stop DIY Shop's flavor blend Olde Tyme Rootbeer is amazing. It's the only Root Beer we've ever liked.

TFA Guava. I thought it must have been a bad batch for sure so I emailed BCF and they said "No, that's just the way it is". Pure floral grossness.

That being said I do have one recipe where it works well at about half a drop per 30ml, basically the smallest measurable amount you can get from a dropper.

1 points

by cooperCollinsabout 8 years ago

How do you get half a drop?

3 points

by psykiabout 8 years agoMixologist

Squeeze the bottle just enough so a drop forms at the tip but doesn't fall, then touch that to the opening of the receptacle. Mixing 101 ;)

2 points

by Urano_Metriaabout 8 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

I'm somewhat of a beginner, but that's how I do half drops as well. I figured using capillary action/surface tension to your benefit was just common sense.

1 points

by cooperCollinsabout 8 years ago

Ah, I mix my testers in 10ml ldpe bottles with their own dropper tips... If I did that then the half drop wouldn't reach the base, as the dropper tip for the 10ml will press another the half drop.

For me it's anything with chocolate. Just nah.

by sanchostacheabout 8 years ago

I can't seem to find a chocolate that doesn't taste like Tootsie rolls

3 points

by UnhappyBreadabout 8 years ago

Sounds exactly what I find. It's either tootsie roll or poo.

FA Cocoa at .25%-.5% just tastes like a not-very-sweet hot chocolate.

Have you tried flavorah's milk chocolate or chocolate deutsch? Might change your mind in those. Only chocolates I've ever tried that didn't gunk or taste off.

RFSC Cookies & Cream is actually a delicious chocolate. Really dry by itself but comes together with some VBIC and a touch of VCv1.

FW yellow cake tastes like burnt shit to me. Have you tried JF yellow cake? It's bliss.

Never touched FW yellow cake and went straight to JF. Works wonders even at 1%

Has anyone ever tried FW White Cake

2 points

by jessethatguyalmost 8 years ago

i ordered it on my last order. ill mix some up and edit this after to give my 2 cents

edit. it has a kind of sweet icing taste. not really the fullness i get from fw yellow cake. i mixed it at 5%. it has a soft mouthfeel. i can see it mixed with another cake to flesh out a cake recipe with some icing notes and airyness maybe some inw biscuit for that browned on the bottom taste some cakes have. thats as a shake and vape, now after a steep im not sure. ill update if you want later

TFA Maraschino cherry. Vaped it at 8% once four years ago. Tasted like cough syrup with a twist of battery acid. I threw the mix and the flavoring away. I guess it MIGHT work at somewhere in the .5% range...but the trauma outweighs my curiosity.

TFA Lemon/Lime. Straight up melted plastic taste at 5%. A quick search of the subreddit later confirmed that I wasn't alone in my experience. That was useful later when I'd find flavorings that interested me. #themoreyouknow

I agree with Maraschino Cherry, I ended up throwing the mixing container and RDA away. Scarred for life!

2 points

by Apocrisiaryabout 8 years ago

FW Maraschino cherry too. I don't know what cherry they ever tasted but I first thought the flavour had reacted with the bottle, straight plastic taste. On further inspection and emails. Nope, it was just the flavour.

Not so much the worst, but definitively the biggest let down FW Grape Soda. Smells amazing, tastes straight sugar. Might have something to do with the 40% sucralose content (Really FW, 40% sucralose!?)

Anything banana. I love bananas the fruit, and I love them cooked in foods, but anything banana "flavored" makes me literally dry heave. I always think to myself "This one is highly regarded, it won't taste like Banana Runts!"

Tastes like Banana Runts every time.

TPA lychee, 100% catpiss. WF caramel butter isn't quite a full disaster, but was the most disappointing flavour I've bought. Smells fricking amazing. Vapes like sweetener.

Where to I even begin answering this one? So many disasters...

FW Cookie Butter. I thought it would taste like Speculoos Cookie Butter. It just tastes like burnt nasty.

by chewingpaintchipsabout 8 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

FVL milk&honey I tried to like this flavor, at any % and no matter how long I steeped it, it just tasted like old chocolate that turned white.

2 points

by tboneathomeabout 8 years ago

tpa honeydew. It's an ingredient in a clone recipe of one of my favorite juices. It's all I can taste and not a good taste.

1 points

by EarnestAccordabout 8 years ago

Yeah, I only use it as an adjunct these days, usually around 0.125%. Very strong!

1 points

by tboneathomeabout 8 years ago

Every version of this recipe calsl for it at 3% and I know I don't taste in the original at least not that strong.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedabout 8 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

FLV Oatmeal Raisin...steeped it 3 weeks @1.5% and it still tasted like pus...threw it away instantly.

5 points

by chewymidgetabout 8 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

You used it way too high. .25-.5% is the max for the flavor. It's strong as hell. That has a good flavor if used low enough.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedabout 8 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Guess I'm gonna have to rebuy it and see.

Cap juicy peach. Wtf even is that?

8 points

by Apocrisiaryabout 8 years ago

Wait, what?

Juicy peach is awesome, besides from the throat hit it gives. Not a big fan of TH. But it tastes just like a sweet peach, at least for me.

2 points

by Cocky1976about 8 years ago

Really? All I get is a candy peach from it. If you want to replicate those peach ring candies this is it. Tfa juicy peach is much closer to a real peach flavor to my taste buds.

1 points

by thebigreadabout 8 years ago

So, I realised yesterday that I could make this work for me with sweet guava and they compliment each other really well.

It's the throat hit that I find really raw. It's subdued it slightly.

Try Banana Cream LA or TFA, instead of pure Banana flavors.

INW Godfather sounded awesome. Tried at 3% steeped a month, then another month, and it still had faint cherry taste with a burnt plastic note that was reminiscent of TFA Honey.

That's high for Godfather though, 1% is enough.

Fucking Thai Chai. I bought it in my early mixing days to try chai recipes, god it tasted like chewing on flowers. And it never went away even after steeping and breathing. Stuck around in my tank for a few days even after cleaning too

TFA Dr Pop

Smells exactly like Dr. Pepper

Tastes like watered-down Diet Dr. Thunder that's been sitting in an unattended plastic cup for a few days.
