submitted about 8 years ago by ChemicalBurnVictimresident tobacco specialist

Brace yourselves, the pumpkin spice recipes are coming.

All The Flavors link

Autumn Smoke

  • FLV Arabian Tobacco- .12%

  • FA Cardamom- .1%

  • FA Clove- .25%

  • FLV Eggnog- .75%

  • INW Falcon Eye- 1.5%

  • FE Hongtashan- 2%

  • TFA Red Oak- 1%

  • INW Tobacco Absolute Virginia- 1.25%

Steep time: 2 weeks

The Tobacco Base: FLV Arabian, INW TA Virginia, TFA Red Oak. Arabian tobacco has probably been the trickiest tobacco I've ever tried to use. It was dominating mixes for me at .1%. I never completely gave up on it though because it has something that I really like about it. It's incredibly earthy, musky, and a bit acrid. Very authentic tasting. Just so fucking strong. Perfect here at .12%. The Virginia is also very earthy, but more of a grassy/hay type of thing. Along with the TFA Red Oak, it really blends with the Arabian nicely to complete the base.

The Pumpkin Spice: this recipe was a request, and when it was first requested I hit up the googles to see what pumpkin spice was all about. Found an essential oils recipe to make a pumpkin spice scent, so I just went with that. Ginger, cinnamon, clove, Cardamom, and nutmeg. All things I was already playing with for what I had planned to be a Christmas recipe. I wanted to use some other tobacco flavors to make up as much of the pumpkin spice profile as I could. Why? Because why not? Cinnamon I went with FE Hongtashan. It's got a very distinct Cinnamon note to it. It's a warm and dark flavor, which is perfect for the season. INW Falcon Eye is for the ginger. When I first tested this flavor, ginger jumped out at me. Not much tobacco, but that's ok. I just use it as a ginger flavor. NBD. Nutmeg I went with FLV Eggnog. It's got a nice spice taste that isn't too strong on the eggy part, so I think it works well here to give me the nutmeg I needed, and also help the Hongtashan with the cinnamon. It doesn't push it too far in to winter flavor territory (or at least I hope not.) The clove and cardamom kind of speak for themselves i think. I originally picked them both up for an Arrakis clone, and I've been fiddling with them quite a bit the last month. Very easy for them to get a little out of control, so I keep 'em low.

I know there's a lot of flavors here, and maybe a few that aren't as common, but I've tried to do a simpler version that didn't have all this, and it just wasn't the same. I tried to replace a lot of what I used for the pumpkin spice part with FLV Pumpkin Spice, and it was a pretty hard no. Something about that one just doesn't sit right with me.

I think it can probably be done with some more common flavors. Replace the Hongtashan with a cinnamon that isn't CAP or TFA Cinnamon Danish (unless you like those, i hated both.) Falcon Eye with an actual ginger flavor. If you go HS Gingerbread, I think it will be good, but I would drop that down to .5% or so. It's much stronger on the ginger and I think it's a bit dry. Clove and Cardamom might be able to go, but you'll want to bump up the Eggnog to 1.25% or so.

I have a nasty habit of buying everything that's called "tobacco" and tasting something very much not tobacco, but still using it for the different notes in it. That probably makes my recipes a bit harder to mix, because not a lot of people are going to have Falcon Eye or Hongtashan, but mix 'em if you got 'em. This is probably my favorite recipe of mine so far. I've had trouble keeping 10 ml and 30 ml testers around long enough to see how it steeps. But it's definitely better at the 2 week mark.

Yeah, this deserves its own post. I'm only on day 6 of steeping and it's amazing. Literally tastes like fall with a superb tobacco base. I can notice the taste of the TA creeping up. I seem to be getting a maple syrup room note for some reason haha. This is so good!

That TA calms down a good bit after a while. I actually really like it fresh because the tobaccos are a bit more in your face. But I think it's a better balanced juice after a couple weeks. The only hard part for me was getting it to that 2 weeks mark.

Nice. I find it impressive that with all of the different spices it's perfectly in balance and not dry or harsh. I want to pour this on some pancakes.

edit: also this was my first time trying an FLV flavor and they taste really good.

This looks delicious but I couldn't trust myself to follow the recipe, any chance you would sell a bottle? (I'm in EU)

I think there's a site I can put this on and they'll mix it for you. I'll have to look for it when I'm off work and let you know. Not sure if they're still around or not.

That's a much less sketchy option thank you haha

Well I found that site, but it doesn't appear that FLV Arabian is an option. If you want to post it in the classifieds to see if anyone wants to make you some I'm cool with that.

That would be awesome. PM me, perhaps we can exchange a couple recipes. I've been getting back into tobaccos after a long and unintentional break from them. Actually I think 2012 was the last time I had a tobacco ADV.

Really like the sound of this. I've got the tobaccos and have been meaning to pick up some cardamon. I love a bit of cardamon, drinking a date and cardamon oatmeal stout I brewed as I type. Is FA Cardamon the one to get?

FA is the only one I have tried. It’s crazy strong stuff. Like .3% is probably the upper limit for me. I’m not sure I’ve seen Cardamom from anyone else.
