Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of September 22, 2017
submitted about 8 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Anything I suggested last time that worked out particularly well for you?

Are you looking for suggestions for what to order?

Been ordering a bunch of flavors based mostly on friends requests and a few of my own interests so I've got lots of randoms haha. Cannot remember brand as the list was made for friends to choose from: Ripe strawberry Sweet mango Key lime pie Sugar cookie Coconut Orange dream bar White chocolate (the pepper one ): ) Chocolate chip cookie Graham cracker Peanut butter cup Vanilla bean ice cream Blueberry muffin Cola Dragonfruit Cheesecake (the socks one ): ) Cherry blossom Green tea Marshmallow Koolada(menthol)

Going to be hard to do anything without knowing the brands.

Figured that would be the case. I'll find em and try next week.

I'd like something for my MTL, I got bored of the ELR recipes that I can make with my stash, I'd like to try something new but every recipe I've made was meh. Sorry for the imgur format I'm on my phone (PC is dead) I vape all the profiles, doesn't matter if it's bakery, fruits or so.

Thanks!

https://imgur.com/gallery/duskl EDIT: Found 2 flavors that are not in the stash, FA Vienna Cream, TPA Sour

Modified MODM for MTL:

  • 10% TFA Dragonfruit
  • 3% TFA Vanilla Swirl
  • 3% TFA Bavarian Cream
  • 3% TFA Strawberry Ripe

Steep for one week.

Just following up from a post I made in a previous suggest a recipe thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/6t0p1w/weekly_suggest_a_recipe_for_my_flavors_thread/

In what I assume was casual throwaway recipe /u/ID10-T suggested:

5% Juicy Peach (TFA)
1% Fuji Apple (FA)
2% Vanilla Swirl (TFA)
2% Strawberry (TFA)
0.5% Koolada

I can confirm that this is absolutely delicious and has been in constant ADV rotation. (I dropped the Koolada and will try it with WS-23 when I buy it this month). So far it goes by the catchy title Peachy Apple Strawberry. Hoping someone will come up with a catchier name :D with /u/ID10-T having first dibs I guess.

No such thing as a casual throwaway recipe here. That's a carefully theorycrafted recipe. You should call it Peachy ASS (Apple-Strawberry-Swirl), and it'll be so much better once you get the WS-23 in.

I find most recipes taste, on average, 43.81% better once you give them a snazzy name.

OMG so true and /u/ID10-T reconfirms his genius with the recipe name!

Heh no disrespect was intended ;)

In my head, I picture you surrounded by shelves and shelves filled with thousands of flavour concentrates and gallons of PV/VG/Nic bottles. You're hunched over a laptop furiously vaping and are barely visible through the densest, thickest and tastiest clouds of vapour. All the while briefly reviewing a poster's flavour list, replying with a killer suggestion while cackling to yourself - "yes, yes, that should be good"

That's close enough

That's a weird as fuck link, my man.

by io_thanaterosabout 8 years ago

LOL. I've fixed the link. Just goes to show that I shouldn't attempt to multitask.

Previous link was to a UK forum dedicated to helping posters appeal traffic + parking citations.

We have road markings in the UK called Yellow Box Junctions that my wife was cited for stopping inside. She felt particularly aggrieved about this particular junction so we are in the process of appealing it.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm ashamed to admit I spent like an hour browsing that forum.

What have you made that you didn't really enjoy? That might help in attempting to suggest something you'll like.

2 points

by DinosaurDanny666almost 8 years ago

Mostly strawberry cheesecakes, none of them have really tasted very good to me either. I also have made Bronuts in the past and didn't like it.

What was it you didn't like about the Cheesecake, the strawberries or the cheesecake. I'm looking at that list there and thinking either strawberry butterscotch or butterscotch cheesecake.

Hope this is the right spot for this. There's this shop I had gotten a free 15ml sample coupon to that makes their own juices so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got a sample of some Strawberry, Cranberry, Dragonfruit and Kiwi juice (menu list was just what flavors were combined with each bottle they made). I ended up really enjoying it and after finding out they charge premium prices I decided I'd rather try and make it myself.

It was kind of dry, but had a nice fruit background with the strawberry-kiwi poking out just a bit. I have the following flavors, would anyone be able to suggest some percentages I could use?

Dragonfruit - TFA

Cranberry - TFA

Strawberry Ripe - TFA

Strawberry - TFA

Sweet Strawberry - CAP

Kiwi - FA

When you say poking out just a bit, you mean barely there, or poking out ahead of the other flavors just a bit?

2 points

by Chrysenthalmost 8 years ago

Poking out ahead of the other flavors just a bit. Sorry for the late response.

Try 4% FA Kiwi, 3% CAP Sweet Strawberry, 3% Dragonfruit, 2% Strawberry Ripe, 1% Cranberry.

Not sure if this belongs here. Trying to complete a Carribean Island themed recipe for Pirate Weekend at the Ren Fest in 2 weeks. I have the following base:

4% FLV Cherimoya 4% TPA Jackfruit 1% FA Lime Tahity

I'm really happy with this as a base, but it needs a top note - a Gladys Knight for the Pips. Any suggestions? I have enough time to order from BCF...

by ID10-Talmost 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Rum. Specifically FA Jamaican Rum. Get some booziness in those top notes. The sweeter base of that flavor might have you wanting to lower the Cherimoya or Jackfruit just a hair to make room for that molassesy business, but the booze should come out swinging. Also, what screams pirate louder than RUM?

2 points

by vizziealmost 8 years ago

This was definitely a thought that popped into my head, but since I haven't tried any rum-based flavors yet, I wasn't sure how that would pop. Thanks for the suggestion. Appreciate the specifics.

I'd like to do this a little differently and see what happens... Ok, so here's the flavors I can't stand:

Anise (or any other black licorice-esque flavor)
Baked goods (any. Including cereals.)
Butter (just seems wierd)
Custards.
Peach. (Or peach-like flavors like mango or nectarine or...)
Strawberrry
Vanilla

Flavors I'm not really crazy about/combinations I'd avoid:
Creams with fruits or coffee
Pineapple (depends on what it's with)
Grapefruit (see above)
Rhubarb (maybe belongs in the hate category, but maybe?)
Marshmallow (outside of a very limited role) Tobacco

Flavors I love (or just like a fair bit):
Caramel
Cinnamon Chocolate
Cherry
Mint
Black coffee
Most other common fruits
Booze

I'm willing to add flavors to my collection (it's not like I don't have a bunch to order anyhow) So, with that kind of freedom/restriction, what are a few recipes I should consider?

(If anyone hates this post, sorry. I just know of no way to do an exclusionary search for recipes to try to find any that appeal.)

A few of those look really good. Looks like I need to pick up a few more flavor concentrates.

Also, would INW Elderflower be close enough to sub for FLV Elderflower?

Don't know, I've never tried INW Elderflower
