Okay. So I'm working on a hot chocolate recipe for the upcoming holidays, and I'm struggling. I have a fairly decent flavor going, but it's not quite where I want it, and it's not rich and creamy enough.
TPA Merengue 2%
FA Fresh Cream 1%
CAP Chocolate Fudge Brownie v1 1%
TPA VBIC 2%
TPA DX Bavarian Cream 2%
TPA Sweetener 2%
Merengue, Bavarian, VBIC and Fresh Cream - I chose these flavors partially to give the whole thing a milky flavor, and partially to up the richness. The VBIC is there to add a little vanilla to the whole mix while keeping in them with the creamy aspect
Chocolate Fudge Brownie - It's just the best chocolate I've found, and the best I have. I wanted to use it because it gives me a fairly authentic chocolate flavor with little off tastes
Sweetener - I'm usually staunchly against sweeter in my juices, however I feel this will benefit from 1 or 2 percent, as hot chocolate is usually rather sweet. It also adds a little syrupyness that I want in there.
So I'm struggling. What's next? Its good, but not amazing. I want it to be richer, thicker, and maybe more chocolatey. Any ideas?

Remove sweetener while trying to balance a recipe, it doesn't affect texture much and is more of a distraction that will cover up the current flaws in the recipe.
TFA DX Bavarian Cream is a very slow moving concentrate since it's a DX version. Maybe sub with the non-DX? I personally found that it only messed up my early recipes when I was using it.
Other stuff looks about right.
Note that although this is a recipe, it's a WIP Recipe, there should probably be a thread specific to monthly WIP Recipes.
I don't have the non-DX version of Bavarian Cream. Would a touch if butter add the appropriate Dikatones for that richness? And yeah. I will at least replace the tag for WIP.
Use a different cream or don't use any, Meringue, Cream Fresh, and VBIC are plenty of cream, not sure about subtle hot chocolate.
TFA Vanilla Swirl? or a marshmallow
I had TFA DX Bavarian Cream and I never found a good use for it.
Try FA Marshmallow?
Marshmellow from other manufacturers might work as well, but I've only ever had it from FA. I use it in numerous mixes to add 'body' to the taste. Especially with creams and taffys. I also add it in small percentages (0.5% or less) to otherwise single flavor fruits to improve the vape.
It will act as a sweetener as well, so could try replacing the sweetener you are using with the marshmallow.
you said taffy. I've been struggling with a taffy base. care to lend your experience? right now I'm using like 4.5% FW Saltwater Taffy 2% Cap Marshmallow 1% Meringue FA
TFA white chocolate and FA marshmallow together does an excellent job adding a thick creamy base without overpowering everything.
What percentage do you generally use for those? Also would FW White Chocolate work? I'd have to order TPA White Chocolate
I'd add a small percentage of cap vc v1 and that marshmallow for a thicker creamy mouth feel. Also, random flavor but RF SC white chocolate is really good for adding a creamy sweetness without overpowering the other flavors.
I was thinking about using cap VC actually. I just was worried I'd get too much of a custard taste. I think I'm going to try a combination with the FA Marshmallow and see how that goes. Thank you!
If there's one word I can use to describe TFA VBIC, it's "rich". I would suggest increasing this to 3-4% for the vanilla and rich aspect. Then you could try FLV Cream at 1-1.5% or CAP Vanilla Whipped cream around 2% for the cream. I'd personally drop the Bavarian completely, but that's up to you. If CFB is your only chocolate option try raising in to 2% (JF Milk chocolate is my current go to). Not sure if you're getting enough milkiness in this recipe, but TPA Sweet cream is also another milky/creamy option. Just a few suggestions based on my experience. Enjoy the journey bro...
