What's that one perfect recipe that you're chasing?
For me, it's always going to be making a really, really good blueberry doughnut juice.
I just want to smoke a Camel light in vape form.
Please tell me you somehow made regular Camels.
I'd settle for that too. I've got my eye on SC C-Style though because the M-Style was pretty close to the way a fresh pack of Reds smells. I didn't really like Marlboro though, so I'm hoping C-Style stands for Camel style. When I first tested INW Gold Ducat I thought it tasted a bit like a Camel Turkish Gold, but that could have been my mind playing tricks on me. I've done some tinkering with Turkish and Burley NETs, but that doesn't help you much since I extracted them, so it's not something you can buy.
One thing is for sure: if INW has Camel in the name, it's not going to taste like Camels. I think I might mess around with some FLV stuff. And then dump a bunch of DNB on top. Cigarettes are hard to do. I guess a really good cigarette in general is my white whale. And I'm talking smoking one, not just the smell of a pack. I wasn't a pack a day sniffer, I smoked that shit.
Hm, i'd settle for something that tasted like the smell of a fresh pack of Camels tho, they smell great haha
S'Camel is pretty far from anything Camel, anything cigarette actually, i'll agree with that.
By the way, i'm getting some stuff on the way to mix a bunch of your recipes, thank you for sharing!
Chocolate Milk. I've gotten close, but nah, not close enough. It actually ate at me for a while. Also, the last few months have been dedicated to the right kinda coffee for this Affogato recipe. I think I've got it, but I've said that about 6 times now.
For some reason chocolate vapes disgust me even though i love chocolate
For me, it has to be the lightest hint of chocolate. It's way too easy to overdo it.
Same here. Chocolate milk is just about the only chocolate I can imagine vaping and enjoying. Even the thought of chocolate covered strawberry vape is repulsive to me. A chocolate bar seems even worse. IDK why though, my experience with chocolate e-juice is very limited and I'm sure it can be done right.
Have you ever tried golden ticket by mix4? it's the one and only good chocolate milk eliquid iv ever had. seriously pick one up if you havent.
Mt Bakers Hawk Sauce. Tons of clones but none of them are perfect.
This for me aswell.
I feel like it's a single flavor nobody tested yet, it tastes so straight forward and simple. And to be honest it isn't even that tasty, i just don't get tired of it somehow.
It's watermelon + grape + a fuckton of sweetener.
have you tried ~~TFA~~ Cap harvest berry?
Ahhhh the blueberry doughnut....an elusive beast.
Try this. Well liked, and was shown on the DIY Mixers Crew youtube as a reviewed mix as well.
I tried making a blueberry doughnut (very) loosely based off this, using cap glazed doughnut. A week ago I found a range of doughnut vapes, including blueberry and I was quite pleasantly surprised to find I was not far off.
I definitely need to pick up a yellow cake concentrate, and blackcurrant for the jammy inside!
Which brings me to a question. Is there anything safer than sucralose to use to make a juice taste as good as a premium? I use super sweet from Capella, but it is just not the same!
I generally use SS as well. I had the other sweetener before I got SS. I would say, overall no, Sucralose is the sweetener answer. Flavorah has a sweetener called Sweetness. Its a non-sucralose sweetener. I dont remember the primary sweetener in it, its been talked about. Its pretty good though. Doesn't give you the chemical sugar aftertastes either.
That sounds dank but i don't have half the flavours... welp, looks like im putting another chefs flavours order in. who said DIY was cheaper?
My first two years I spent a serious amount of cash on flavours, year 3 not so much, and now in year 4 I'm just cruising along I spend maybe 20-30 bucks a month on an average monthly basis and that's most just topping off the nicotine or VG/PG bottles. For me back when I was on analogs I was spending like 200-300 a month so it's still sooo much cheaper.
Bombie's Black out City
i have tried fucking EVERYTHING, every recipe i could find, every fucking flavor i could think of, even ones i normally would never ever use (LOOKING AT YOU ANISE, youre tasty in small % tho)
I have mixed up, on a conservative estimate, 600-800ml of BoC clones; i have tried my clones next to a fresh bottle of the stuff and even when i think im close im so fucking far away. Its a great juice and complex enough that I will never get it; it also doesnt help that (IMO) BoC from the ol large plastic bottles and BoC in the new glass bottles tastes different, which kinda screwed with trying to make this juice.
Every single "hint" i have seen has always resulted in a juice that people INSIST that is close, i swear some people have no tastebuds anymore. Ive given up on it, bombies wins this round.
Ive tried cloning cold press as well and while not an exact clone its something pretty tasty that i enjoy and mix up frequently, pink guava is taaaaaaaaaaaaaaasty; since this has resulted in something different but still really good ive stopped trying to clone it and will just buy it every so often as a treat to myself.
Cold press is my jam, I would be very interested to see some notes of yours for that recipe if you wouldn't mind sharing. It was a surprise hit for me, I wasn't expecting it to be that tasty. It's probably my 3rd fav bombies juice!
Cold press lime Tahiti is IMO in that juice. However it's so concentrated it's hard as shit to work with in 30ml bottles. Even at 1% it's a dominant flavor; I could dilute it in PG, but I believe it's in Placid as well in an undiluted form, and with using less % I can keep my PG ratio low. If you use lime Tahiti at 2-3% it's throat rape city, I've been trying drops/ml but that's not precise in the least. While I think watermelon is in the juice its hard to say which exactly.
Buckland by Artifact Vapor. None other than /u/fizzmustard. He gave me some clues, but I have went broke and crazy twice now.....
He said it is only 2 flavor brands, and both are available from BCF.
> A rich blend of peaches, plums, sweetened cashews and sunflower seeds. An earthy malted grain rounds out this flavor and brings all elements together.
Where are cashews and sunflower seeds coming from? I don't even see those flavors.
An earthy malted grain
This has been my biggest roadblock. That could be 1 flavor or a combination. It is a very unique and mysterious taste.
I wish he was still around here. For unclear reasons I think he was asked to stay away. This was about the same time he launched his line. Regardless of the reasons, this sub sure could use his expertise and experience.
Sunflower seeds. Saw this yesterday when I was browsing. Don't know how long it's been around though.
When I started vaping, all I wanted was a Stroopwafel juice, but absolutely nobody made one. (Yeah, I know Charlie Noble makes one, but I didn't find that out until much later, and at the time it was limited edition, so I've still never tried it.)
Then I got into DIY, and immediately started my quest for a Stroopwafel recipe to mix up, but, absolutely nobody made one.
It took me ages, but, I went to bed every night theory-crafting a Stroopwafel recipe in my head, then poring over this subreddit and various forums hoping to find the "missing" ingredient it needed, and I finally did, in Inawera Waffle.
At the time, I couldn't find a single positive review of it, but I bought it anyway hoping it might be the key. The good news is; it was! The bad news? Inawera discontinued it, like, last September. (never forget!)
So, technically, even though I have enough INW Waffle to Scrooge McDuck my way through gallons of Dutchie, Stroopwafel is still my white whale, because I want to remix it, but I can't find a flavor that even comes close to what that tiny little smidgen of INW Waffle did to that recipe. :-(
EDIT: Hey, mods? Seeing as Inawera has put a serious ding in my dorky enthusiasm for mixing, can I possibly get my flair changed to:
Inawera got me fucked up.
A perfect, full-bodied fruit recipe that has no sweeteners, bakeries, or additives, and is also perfectly smooth, like fresh morning air smooth, 0 throat hit. I'm not against a little koolada in there either, but I'd really like it without first just so I can compare.
Menthol (to taste, i like 4 drops/ml and use FW)
Champagne (TPA) 1%
Double Apple (CAP) 4%
Dragonfruit (TPA) 1%
Fuji Apple (FA) 3%
Koolada (TPA) (as necessary, you can cut back on the menthol and replace with koolada if you prefer that, or use both, i usually use 4 drops total or so)
Two Apples (INAWERA) 2-3%
I enjoy the shit out of this stuff, I highly recommend max VG.
Bombies Kiss the Ring. Would love to figure this one out.
Same here, the first juice I mixed when I first got into diy was a kiss the ring clone which tasted nothing like it. It wasn't even close, even though everyone was raving how close it was to the original. I made 30ml and it steeped for weeks before trying it. I tried it even after 2+ months and it was disgusting with an overpowering cherry flavor. I dumped it. :(
I'm far from experienced, but I've tried and failed several times to make an Orange Creamsicle that tastes like a 50/50 bar. Everything ends up too creamy, or too orangey. This is for sure my white whale. I've tried a few "premium liquids", and none of them come close either. The orange is always too natural, or not there. I need an orange sherbert or something to pair with a good ice cream. A bit of coolness without menthol would make it just right. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Koolada would provide that coolness without any mint/menthol flavoring. It's just cold. Neat little thing, I use it on some smoothie type flavors to make it feel almost like a slushy.
Have you played with Inawera Shisha Orange? I've been chasing an Orange Creamsicle for a while myself and I've gotten much closer than ever before with Shisha Orange.
Manufacture | Flavour | % ---|---|---- INW | Shisha Orange | 1 TFA | Vanilla Bean Ice Cream | 3 INW | Shisha Vanilla | 1
It's only a V1 but it was my first stab with a new orange and it was shockingly good.
I have not tried Inawera Shisha Orange, does your mix have that orange sherbert taste? If so then it just made its way onto my radar.
It's not quite Orange Sherbert, it's got a bit more tip of the tongue tang than a standard Orange Sherbert. It's like a cross between Tang and Sunny D. It's not really either of those two things, but it is close to them. In the presence of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, at least to my palette, it tastes very much like those Hi-C Orange Creamsicles in the yellow box.
Sacre Couer - Njoy Artist Collection
Not sure why I enjoyed this favor so much, even tried to ask Anne-Claire for some hints. The almond torte aspect always throws off my mix. I haven't seen any clone attempts out there so not much to go on, besides normal trial and error.
I've got some of this, and while I love Rhubarb juices, I don't care for this one at all. However, I think it'd be easy to clone. DEFINITELY INW Rhubarb, FA Apple Pie, FA Almond, FA Vanilla Tahity to start.
I enjoy rhubarb as well,I haven't tried with vanilla tahity and pie, there is so many vanillas, and I can see the pie working, maybe I was making the torte more than it needed to be. Thanks I will get those on order and try again.
A really good cherry cheesecake. I've been playing with RF (SC) Cherry Pie with some other cherry flavors, not satisfied yet. Cherry is a difficult flavor to use without it tasting medicine-y.
Hah. A real cherry is my whale. I plan to use sonar and drop bouys... (One thing: LA Cherry, ~.2-.25% avoids that 'white rum' effect, but is kinda hollow. I'm searching for the rest of the flavor.) I don't have the Cherry Pie... is it just the filling, or is there a bakery addition?
There's a bakery addition, but mostly it's a smooth cherry flavor. I think it could be a little stronger in overall flavor, but RF (SC) Cherry Pie gives a nice low-note cherry base to build on, I find.
Have you tried MF White Cherry? Takes about 4 weeks to settle in. Try 0.5 - 0.75% in a tester, see what it does for you.
There are a few but my white whale is definitely Charlie Nolble's Mayflower.
I've bought so many concentrates and mixed probably a hundred variations and haven't even came close. Hoping if I keep throwing it in the hat it might get picked for the monthly clone challenge one day.
A perfect strawberry cream/custard. I've been vaping that one flavor for 2 years. I had a clone that was what I imagine the old unicorn milk used to be. Every time I make it for myself, I tweak it a little. Add different ratios of stuff, something new, take something out, etc.
Pineapple White Tea by Keystone Vapor (amazing company in PA). I am extremely close, unfortunately I had to resort to a possibly unsafe/maybe safe tea Extraction to do it. No White Tea flavors readily available
Reds (iced). I have bought so many different apples trying to get it. I also can't get the juice as "cold" feeling. WS-23 is next on the shopping list.
Edit: I'm far from "experienced" though...
Bombie's 'Nana Cream.
... When he only opened once/twice every week. (Or was it month?)
Somehow when he went into mass production, the flavor magically changed. My variations of fizzmustard's clone have never been close enough.
The flavor was equivalent to a banana-strawberry jollyrancher.
Very unique. Alas, only a dream these days...
Cassadaga Cannoli Be Mine. It's the strawberry variation.
I've tried adding Strawberry + Strawberry Ripe TPA combo onto /u/tranceinate 's Simply Cannoli base but it's just not right.
I've been playing with this too. I just mixed some up with JF Strawberry Sweet 2% + TPA Strawberry Ripe 1.25% and it's damn fine. If anything, that's a little too much strawberry, but I wanted it pretty pronounced. Will probably try just 1% JF Strawberry Sweet next batch.
FWIW the closest I've found is Circus Cookie Remix by dazcole: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/13237#circus_cookie_remix_by_dazcole It's not exact but as soon as I tasted it I immediately thought of Cannoli be mine. I think the original has waffle and for some reason I get anise every once in a while too
A pixie stix juice that a local shop sells, I've just started DIY and don't know where to start in reverse-engineering the recipe. I did this Time Bomb clone https://goo.gl/y97A8R but it's not what I'm looking for. It's not bad, just not as close as the actual pixie stix flavor that my local shop sells. I've actually considered buying some up and offering it to someone that may be able to crack the code.
If it is a grape pixie stick try using Inawera Grape, I love the flavor personally but it definitely ain't real grape, it really comes across as grape pixie stick.
I'm really just going for a genuine pixie stix, not necessarily a certain flavor of it. So this helps alot thanks u/Orwellan84, I'll try that. They should have that at BullCity right?
Batch after batch trying to clone Strawberry Fields from Holy Grail Elixir about a year now. I only have a little of the original left and still no luck. My country made it illegal to purchase on the web and it is not available here in Belgium. Cake Batter Cream and sugary Strawberry. How naive to think it would be easy. Yet I'm stubborn ...
Caramel Apple. I think what I've run into are the limitations of artificial flavors which are than highlighted by these two contrasting flavors. I've nailed caramel notes in desserts, bakeries and even some berries, but try to contrast it with an apple and it just won't work.
Have you tried ordering juice from bottomofthemap? He has two different blueberry donut juices that have rave reviews. Only $8 for a 30ml... Price goes down the more you buy.
I know it's not as satisfying as perfecting your own recipe, but it might scratch that itch a little bit.
And my white whale is Heisenberg. My local shop makes their own and it's freaking delicious, but every clone recipe I find is completely different.
