Not a question, just a comment. I recently ordered some flavors with the Labor Day sale in mind and going off of idiots opinion on FLV Mango decided to give it a shot.
My god this flavor is AMAZING!
I've only used it as a solo at 3% and it is so full flavored and well rounded, I have no other words. It's incredible. So if you're thinking of trying a mango give this flavor a shot. I highly doubt you'll regret it!
Congratulations and thank you! It's about time someone listened to me. I've been repeating this as often as I can without (hopefully) crossing the line into obnoxiousness for the past year. It might not be a perfect standalone mango for us serious mango aficionados, and there might even be better ones out there somewhere, but if you've been lost in the relative awfulness of TFA, CAP, FA, and INW mangoes, it's like stepping into the light.
Here are some things you should try with it:
Mango Colada. This is my favorite out of all the recipes I made in 2016.
Mango Sticky Rice. This is a masterpiece.
Mango Blossom Macaron. I think this is the best thing I've made so far in 2017. I could just drink it, it's that good.
Mango Beauregarde. This one is one of my favorites.
Abuela. I'm in lust with this one. I don't usually make other people's recipes more than once but this one I have actual cravings for.
Mango Iced Tea - this one could use an update with WS-23 instead of Koolada, and maybe some sweetener, also maybe lowering the FLV Mango just a hair and adding a touch of TFA Philippine Mango.

God dammit, now I need to get Flv mango. Haven't come across a nice mango flavor yet that tastes authentic instead of mango flavored sugar syrup.
IMO mango-flavored sugar-syrup is the least of your worries with some of the mangos out there. Dirt/dust, perfume, rot, pine, soap. I've had mangos that tasted like all of those things. FLV does lean a little to the mango nectar/juice side of things; I'd like it to be fleshier.
How long did you let it steep? I think I tried it at 5% a while back and wasn't really blown away.
Shake and vaped it. Got so much flavor straight away, I couldn't put it down. No flavor fatigue, no off flavors, just full flavored fruit that I couldn't imagine anything else standing up to this flavor. I've tried in the past combining different fruits together to get that "ultimate" fruit flavor (I.E. Fa peach and Fa white peach) but this one is great by it self. Perhaps 5% is too much for a stand alone mix and some of the subtleties get lost in there. I would try and mess around with different %'s if you're truly looking for a great mango flavor.
Hey guys, don't have any mixing gear but before i get into that i want to add some menthol to all my juices (some have menthol and i just want them to be a little more menthol-y) I'm putting an ecigexpress order together, so if anyone knows a great menthol that i can add a little to my juices, let me know?
Arctic winter doesn't do it for me honestly, I'd pick up some WS-23. I think it's on that site but even with shipping it's cheaper on chefs flavors from the U.K. I think.
Its cheaper from the uk even to have it sent to the usa?
Ok, so not a complete n00b, but...
I've been advised that "mixing by weight is far superior" so, looking at what to get in a scale, am I right that this would be appropriate? Or should I be looking for something with greater accuracy like this?
The first one looks good, but 500 g with 0.01 g accuracy is the norm, you don't really need more than that. This is the usual recommendation. The second one is overkill with 0.001 g accuracy, reflected on the price tag.
Ah. Ok. Wasn't sure, since a number of concentrates I use are bust used in <1% concentrations.
That usually isn't a problem with 0.01 gram accuracy even with 10 ml batches. Some scales have a slight resistance to tiny changes when zeroed out, if you experience this you can just add a small weight, do the measuring, then remove it. And if you have to be super precise, you need to dilute the concentrate anyway or you will add too much no matter how great your scale is :)

I'm currently looking to buy everything from liquid barn. I'm just getting into DIY and my goal for now is just a simple max VG ripe strawberry.
Currently in my cart is a 25mL graduated cylinder, 1000mL of VG, 15mL of the ripe strawberry flavor they have on liquid barn(not sure if it has a brand), and 125mL of 100mg strength NicSelect nicotine. My goal strength for the mix is 3mg. I also already have quite a few blunt tip syringes.
I'm trying to go barebones at first since I'm not sure DIY is for me. Am I missing anything? Anything suggestions?

15 ml of flavoring will only last for maybe 200 ml of juice, but do invest in more than one flavor. While strawberry is a pretty safe bet, you still might not enjoy that particular one or be able to taste it. And if you vape too much of a single flavor, your body will start to ignore it. PG does a lot for flavor and viscosity, so don't avoid it unless you have a good reason.
If you want to try just one strawberry, I recommend 3% INW Shisha. Liquid Barn flavors aren't held in high regard. I picked up what is supposed to be their 2 best flavors, and nope. If you are gonna give this hobby a try then at least give it your best shot.
Nicotine River is one stop shopping too. Their nic is reportedly good quality. Large selection of major brands of flavorings. And as leaping said, you want regret picking up some PG. It is the carrier of the flavor. Just my 2 cents.

Complete DIY e-juice noob currently assembling recipes and deciding on what flavours to order with SO (aiming for 10-12 with some overlapping recipes in mind).
My question, though, is this: Is there any way to test a mix without making an actual batch? Or is the test procedure something like making small 5ml bottles and then adjusting the mix and pouring new bottles? Then testing them each and seeing which was the best ratio of flavour concentrates?
I'll likely be using tried and trusted recipes for a bit when we start, but if we do get the urge to experiment what is the advice for testing small incremental changes to formulas/flavours?
Any insight appreciated! Cheers!
PS - Having found so many cool recipes on here, and through sites recommended here, I'm now wondering how many local shops making their own "premium" blends have just taken the best recipes from online communities and brewed and branded them :P
Well any amount can still be a batch. Having said that, you'll obviously want to stick with making 10 ml mixes if you are experimenting (5 ml is too small. You won't be able to measure some flavors out depending on the percentage.)
Regarding using Ethyl Maltol (pre mixed in PG). Anyone have any tips for using this sweetner with fruit flavors like blood orange (FA), Golden Pineapple (CA) and other citric flavors? I'm looking for advice on what percentage of it I should be using to bring out the flavor but not make it candy sweet. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
EM isn't a sweetener, and won't really "bring out" flavors. For that you'll want to use other flavors, such as TFA Dragonfruit (perfect especially for Pineapple, it has some of the same volatiles), INW Cactus and FA Lemon Sicily.
Well that's rude, the website says ”EM helps round out flavors, reduce sharp notes and adds sweetness as you add more in your mix.". Guess they will say anything to people to make a sale... Thanks for the info, I'll be looking for a new flavor vendor.
Whose the vendor? Those descriptions come from the maker, not the vendor. EM can possibly enhance the sweetness of certain flavors, but it will not change the overall sweetness of the mix. Reducing sharp notes is funny though. While technically correct, it does this through muting the flavors
To be a little more clear on this EM helps cut sharper notes from fruits; mainly citruses. It's not a sweetener but it tastes sweet, if that makes sense. So you'll eventually not be able to taste it very well just like any other flavor with vapor's tongue. It also mutes the shit out of the mix. I only use it in Captincannibals Sherb clone and I usually only make enough to vape for a couple of days.
Hey everyone! For some reason I ordered TFA Vanilla Custard, probably to mix a recipie that I have forgotten about. Anyways, I want to use it but am not sure what application would be best for it. What is the differences between TFA vanilla custard and CAP vanilla custard?

Hey there, CAP Vanilla Custard is definitely superior in taste. As far as application, it has many uses. Of course, you could use it as a stand alone custard but, it can also be used as a blending agent in a wide variety of circumstances. Mainly being used with savory type flavors.
Awesome thanks for the input! I'm basically trying to find a good use for the TFA version so I don't end up wasting the concentrate I've purchased. So the TFA basically does the same thing as cap it just doesn't taste as good? Is there any ways to use TFA van custard as an additive where cap might not work?

Most of them either don't ship to me or don't accept cards issued in Mauritius as form of payment. It's a real hassle. I can only get some overpriced concentrates on ebay with shipping price of around 10GBP for a single 10 or 30ml bottle.
So total noob here.. just made my first batch of DIY juice last night.. taste amazing. If you've ever had Hi-chew candy it's taste just like the mango in my opinion. But it's a bit harsh any tips? I followed the recipe and all the percentages exactly as I was told from the ejuice calculator.
if you list out what flavorings you used and at what concentration, someone more experienced (def. not me) can more accurately troubleshoot your mix. sometimes one concentrated flavor will have a harsher throat hit than others. or maybe it could just need to steep and breathe.

Might just need to steep a few days. If I could offer a suggestion, it would be to pair that strawberry (Ripe) with another strawberry. CAP Strawberry Sweet or JF Sweet Strawberry. Ripe tends not to carry the strawberry flavor well on its own. Have you made other non-harsh mixes with the same nic?
Hey just wondering if anyone has any experience with Liquid Barn's Sour Gummy flavor? Information on ELR is lacking and I don't think it's even on ATF.

Just wondering. I prefer 70vg/30pg juice. If my total flavour percentage is 12% in ELR, should I adjust my recipe base from 70/30 to 80/20 in the calculator in order to take into account my 12% flavours that are pg? Or does the Eliquid calculator take this into account?

Hello /r/DIY_eJuice ! I'm fairly new to Reddit, and Vaping. I'm extremely interested in making my own juices, but haven't started yet. Just wanted to say hi, and look forward to hearing what you pros have to say about it! I would like to ask one question though, what would you say your biggest mistake starting out was, if any?
I did zero research on anything. Just bought a bunch of stuff that said "tobacco" and thought I'd be cloning my favorite juice in no time. Even when I eventually started making things I liked, I didn't do a lot of research. I took the long way. If you read the sidebar you'll already have a head start.
Thinking I needed to start mixing by volume. While I never actually mixed by volume, I have a really nice graduated cylinder sitting around that I will never use. Make sure you read the sidebar a few times over. Do not place your first order for flavors you think “sound good.” Find some highly regarded recipes first (and not on ELR) and order your flavors based on those. And if you didn’t get the hint from my first point, MIX BY WEIGHT!

When single-concentrate testing, should I be making up the multiple dilutions and then letting them all steep for a certain length of time? And if so, should I wait for my most recent order to come in, as there's another batch of cherries coming. (For anyone interested, in the quest for a definitive true vibrant cherry flavor:

I also have a few floral types to throw into the mix if need be. Yes, I'm insane. And stubborn. I just need to find the lowest concentrations of each that give any cherry flavor (and thus hopefully avoid any white rum flavor...aka cough syrup or plastic) and then start stacking them. With any luck, by the time January rolls around, I should have it isolated.)
Make them whenever you want. Just FYI, you can use the search in this sub and the flavor notes on ELR (with a grain of salt) to narrow down your search. You certainly don’t need to spend money and time on trying every single cherry out there.
The first cherry I ordered was LA Cherry. Then, after I looked up the information available, (after panicking) I put some thought into it and decided to test it at lower concentrations than had been done by the reviewer. Based on the success of that attempt (a .25% concentration adds a distinct 'cherry-ish' flavor in a mix, with little off-flavor that I can distinguish) I'm fairly certain that I can replicate that success. Then, it's a matter of experimentation to determine which flavors act independant of each other when stacked (that is, which ones are different enough to not merely become a higher concentration of one already in the stack) and combine them all. The result should be a full-bodied cherry flavor. Once I have that... well, I expect I'd be making the largest bottle I can of the concentrate mix. It might need a few tweaks to really shine as a 'straight cherry' juice (I have some obscure flavors that might be useful there, too) but.... Remember, this is an obsession. Cherry is my favorite flavor, I want a perfect cherry juice.
I'm looking for good fruit flavors that are fairly candy-like by themselves. What are some suggestions?
LA Watermelon, LA Banana Cream, TFA Strawberry, INW Lemon (I have Concentrate, and I have read that Mix is nice too). FW Blood Orange could be called candy. Capella Green Apple isn't bad, but someone may suggest a stronger apple.
Off the top of my head these are a few. You could add TFA Sweet and Tart to any of these with good effect, if that's your thing.
I'm working on a recipe for a strawberry milk, aka Strawberry Nesquik, style flavor profile.
- Milk (Nic Vape E-Flavors) 5%
- Sweet Strawberry (Nic Vape E-Flavors) 7%
- CAP Vanilla Custard V2 1.25%
- Vanilla Swirl (Nic Vape E-Flavors) 1.5%
It's good as is, but I'm looking for more of a milk, creamy note and more body. The strawberry flavor is great, but it's mostly just the strawberry flavor and I'm not really getting the milk/creamy fullness that I would like. I'd like to add that body ideally without adding more of a vanilla flavor to it.
My question is, is there another flavor I should possibly add to achieve that? Should I keep exactly what I have and adjust percentages? If so, what is recommended?
Have you tried God Milk yet? That might help point you in the right direction.
To get more of the creamy milk note with no vanilla use FA Fresh Cream and FA Meringue. You could also try using TFA Malted Milk for the milk flavor in conjunction with the previously mentioned. I would not use CAP Vanilla Custard over .5% for the type of profile you're going for.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the best way to get my thick vg pg base mix into bottles with small necks?
My god I've been struggling. Lost so much juice trying to pour it in when it gets stuck in the neck and pours everywhere.

Hi there, new to the vaping community on reddit here. I've been creating e-liquid in lab environments for years, and the best way to achieve this is by using a safety syringe (syringe with no needle) that best fits the neck of your bottle. That way you can fill the syringe, put it down into the bottle and release without it backing up.
I've heard some use the ketchup/mustard squeeze bottles with the long tips for this, too.
Those could work but, may not be very accurate. It's always best to rely on tools you can be precise with. Safety syringes generally have numerical markers on them as low as 0.1ml. I know many within the DIY community rely on "this many drops here and there" but, that's an inaccurate way to measure the creation of e-Liquid.
I've had good luck with a 60ml catheter syringe, it has a huge tip instead of the usual luer needle attachment. It'll pick up pure room-temp VG no problem, you just have to worry about keeping an airway at the top of bottles open, so it doesn't "blorp" out on you.

What is a Shisha flavor? I've enjoyed lychee juice in the past and a local shop is selling "lychee shisha" flavor juice. I've seen the IWN shisha line mentioned quite a bit but always assumed it was just a name, is this true?
Correct, it's just a name. For the most part. The one thing most of those INW Shisha flavors has in common is a kind of syrupy quality, similar to the syrupy stuff used to make hookah tobaccos. They do not have a tobacco note to them.
Hi all! I've been trying something experimental with my nicotine salts and standard freebase nicotine. I am curious what you all think. Here it goes:
Things I kinda know(for the most part):
- Our normal freebase nic has a nice throat hit but can be too harsh in higher concentrations. Takes some time for you to feels its effects and lingers longer.
- Nicotine salt has almost no throat hit and hits more in the chest at higher mg's. Can feel nic right away but fades pretty quick leading to chain vaping.
After getting my hands on some nic salt to mix with I enjoyed the faster nic delivery. But it doesn't last long and I also missed some of that throat hit. I also didn't want to raise my pg% to compensate. (Max VG dripping here)
K, see where I'm going here? :)
Now to the thing! I've been combining the two together! 50/50, for the best of both worlds. So if I want a 6mg juice I'll mix 3mg of freebase and 3mg of salt. So I get that fast salt nic but also have some lingering nic of the freebase for longer "satisfaction".
Dialing in the feel for you is subjective. Someone might not like as much throat hit and mix 60/40, or 70/30 salt to freebase ratio. I've only been trying this for a couple weeks but I'm happy with the results so far.

So I’ve recently been craving a banana foster vape. I ordered some flavorings to make a juice and wanted to know if anyone out there can give me some other ideas or tips. I was thinking Bananas foster (TPA) @ 6% Bavarian cream (TPA) @ 3% Caramel (original) (TPA) @ 2%
The caramel is optional I’m just a big fan of caramel. Should I add any sweetener?? My flavorings will be here tomorrow when I get off work so that’s when I plan to try them out.

So ive been vaping Villain Vapors - Capone made by myself and i want to make the western stronger, i have read that just going up in the percent isnt the answer.

It might get stronger if you bump it up, just be aware that it might not and that it may alter the flavor. There's only one way to find out.
You could try dialing down the other flavors, 8% TFA VBIC is high and you might simply be muting the flavor.
Perhaps you just need a longer steep, have you tried three weeks?
The last resort is to add something else, like a tobacco or an additive to boost the notes you want.
For steeping: what is the preferred method? I've read countless pages that all seem to contradict each other. I'm using ultra premium nic from heartland vapes at 3mg. My juice doesn't taste well blended and somewhat harsh. It's totally vapeable and I feel like the flavor is there somewhere. It's just not smooth. How do I achieve a nice well blended smooth juice? Recipe is sugar cookie v2 (cap)8% vanilla custard (cap) 4% and cinnamon Danish swirl (tfa). Thanks in advance. Edit : juice has been steeping undisturbed in a clear glass bottle on my dresser for 7 days.
There is only one viable method for steeping: Time, in a cool and dark place. A longer steep helps with those flavors, especially considering the V2, so try again in another week or two.
To troubleshoot the harshness, first try vaping unflavored, just base and nic. If that is harsh, well, there you have it. Quality nic is vital. If it's smooth, you'll want to look into different flavors. Some are inherently pretty harsh, cinnamon can definitely be the culprit. A higher VG ratio makes for a smoother vape too and creams can cover up some harshness.
I forgot to mention I filled my tank up and tried it and it was a little harsh. I left it in my tank over night and tried it again in the morning and it was smooth as can be but the flavor was kinda dull.
If it was just briefly harsh it could be anything. Insufficiently shaken juice, dry cotton, old coil, old juice, some residue.
As for dull flavor, none of those flavors are bright or juicy, the recipe itself is pretty mellow. More PG and a better atomizer helps bring out the flavor, but that recipe will still be mellow. Adding some apple or strawberry to it could make it more enjoyable.
I have some single flavor fruits (blackberry, pineapple, fuji apple, etc) and would like to make a "drink" flavor (like your drinking an ice cold cup of blackberry juice)
What would you add,koolada or menthol? I have Capella menthol that I mixed with fuji apple at .5% but am not getting the desired effect.
I’d use FA Polar Blast. Koolada imparts a weird flavor to juices IMO
is there any options to make FA Raspberry/INW Raspberry juicier and add some sourness? Something to achieve flavour similar to Cap Sweet Guava, but with FA/INW Raspberry base instead of Guava?

Tfa sour? Is it safe for vape on a daily basis (using it at ~1%)
Dragonfruit goes well with most fruit mixes at 0.75 %. Useful for pushing fruits forward.
Cactus at 0.5% for adding wetness.
Juicy Lemon will depend on what fruits you are using, but 0.5 - 1.0%
Juicy Peach won’t do anything for you in that area.
TFA Sour will gunk the ever-loving shit out of your coils. And to be honest, I don’t know of anyone that actually uses it with success.

Can someone write me a list of tools I would need to mix. Please include beakers and such. Usual standard equipment everyone has.
There are guides and lots of useful information in the sidebar that you should browse before you order anything. Mixing is safe, easy and highly rewarding if you know what you are doing. Trying to wing it may lead to a bad and potentially unsafe experience.
With that said, all you really need in terms of gear is a good scale and some bottles. Sometimes you will need pipettes. And an RDA will come in handy as you'll be doing lots of tasting and changing of cotton.
Any recipe recommendations? All the flavors only gave me mustard milk and ELR is not doing 'what can I make?' right now.
