September Monthly Clone Challenge

Howdy, mixers!

Are we doing this again? We are? Ok, here we go again.

/u/noahdblevins is obviously the MVP of the August Challenge and will be contacted about a small token of appreciation.

The purpose behind this monthly clone challenge is to gather the community behind an effort to clone just one juice.

The subject of this month's challenge is Vintage Cola by ZAP! Juice. Ad copy just says: "Like a barbershop quartet, four flavours combine in marvellous harmony, for a classic experience you won’t forget!" But there are plenty of reviews online that might give more detail.

This was requested by /u/angelbl00d, who had tried "countless other coke/cola flavors" but found that "nothing can compare to this one."

A reminder from the previous clone challenge posts: You are perfectly welcome to completely ignore the cloning aspect of this challenge and just consider the juice description as a prompt to create a recipe all your own with that profile. In this case, that would be some kind of cola that fits these bills, apparently:

"an almost fizzy experience on the inhale. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it was definitely something different. And on the exhale this was just like real full flavoured coca cola!" - Vaping 360.com

"a mingling of fruits, herbs, and spiced flavour notes to create a vintage Cola taste." - Vape Club UK

Cola sweets can only be INW Cola. That thing straight up tastes like a cola gummy.

So I solved the difficulty part, the cola, now you guys solve "the fizz part"

  • INW Sparkling Wine

  • FW Pink Champagne

  • TFA Champagne

  • TFA Ginger Ale

  • FA Lime Distilled

  • Per /u/Slackerdan, maybe FW Blood Orange + CAP Sweet Tangerine

Blood orange + Sweet Tangerine is a great combo. But with cola? Not sure it would work.

I would "cheat" the spices part and maybe put a drop of TFA cinnamon red hot with some TFA French vanilla. But I don't think INW Cola and French Vanilla would work so maybe try it with FA Cola?

Goddamm my mind is just racing with shitty ideas. Tomorrow I'll have two recipes ready. Sorry if I'm not very cohesive, I'm extremely tired.

I don't get any fizz from TFA champagne. I honestly think it's like TFA vanilla bean ice cream, some taste the pepper some don't.

FA USA Pleasure (Cola) has a fizz effect to it. I just made a 4% sample of it (no steep needed) and the fizz is there but it would need more of something to be a good cola, imo.

I have zero cola flavors... I have no choice but to vape a diet coke to fill the void.

Next time I'll be sure to pick something that I somehow know uses FLV Apple Pop and FLV Wild Melon, just for you.

As was spelled out when this experiment started, I seriously just pick the highest upvoted request from the previous months' Monthly Clone Request Thread that's both 1) a request for a single clone 2) unanswered or very obviously inadequately answered.

If you don't like the selections, get in those clone request threads and manipulate the system. That's the American way.

Assuming you survive attempting to vape Diet Coke.

I'm a big fan of Vurve's Dreamsicle Perfected v.2, and the two orange flavors (FW Blood Orange and Cap Sweet Tangerine) give a definite "fizzy" effect on the tongue. However, I'd be concerned about the orange flavor overpowering a cola recipe. Some of the reviews above did say the 'Vintage Cola' e-juice had fruit notes, though. Just my two cents :)

Oh, and could the Mods do something about /u/ID10-T asking for clone recipes? Thanks. ;)

Speaking of Zap! I cannot for the life of me figure out the recipe for Blue Soda. Very tasty juice.

This is probably nothing like the Vintage cola by Zap but i mixed something up quickly and its actually decent. I tried a couple variatons, some with FA Cola but FA cola doesnt have the candied part like INW Cola.

  • INW Cola 5%
  • TFA French vanilla deluxe 2%
  • TFA Cinnamon Red Hot 0.1% (two small drops per 10ml)

The red hot is difficult to measure(everyone has different bottles) but it gives it a little twist and the vanilla is there cause i love TFA french vanilla deluxe.

I personally think it works and tastes good but i am also the laziest mixer ever and a beginner. I just did a knuckle test on FA Bergamot and that could work in this mix and would add the "fruit" and "herb" aspect of the original juice
