I just recently started DIY and my first batch is just amazeballs.
I got 3 x10ml aromas (Lemon Glaze Doughnut, Fathers Milk, Sweet Shot) and 3x100ml 40/60 VG/PG 6mg base - just read the % on the aromas (i.e. %10-15, and eyeballed it against a 100ml base bottle, i.e poured out about a 10th of the base and mixed in the aroma - no scales, sryniges, drippers or anything...)
I let it sit for about 20 days, shaking the bottles every morning and airing it out - even after the 10th day or so, I was sampling the juices and they already tasted good, but now on the day 20 they are just awesome. Am I missing out on something - instructions from the aromas were so detailed, i.e. "106ml base for 5ml aroma")?
Maybe I have been vaping some shitty ass juices till now. My favorite was Dinner Lady lemon tart (20 euros for 60ml!), but my own lemon doughnut mix tastes even better....
This isn't the WORST thing you can do, but let me tell you why you shouldn't.
Let's say you mix up something that is literally the best juice you've ever had. How in the fuck are you going to reproduce it?
As long as you're OK with every bottle being the vapor equivalent of an improv show you should be fine. You'll just have to be OK with enjoying the memories instead of revisiting.
This actually happened to me, so he's not talking bullshit, OP. My first batch of juice was mostly decent, and I had a few really good ones, unfortunately I didn't write down or record anything. I didn't even measure anything, so I can't even mix them by memory.
I ended up using a site called e-liquid-recipes to keep track of all my recipes. It also makes it easy to "adapt" a new recipe from an old one and change around some of the flavoring values. Essentially you input the percentages for everything you want and it will tell you the exact amount of each ingredient you need to make it. The site can be very slow and the UI isn't spectacular but it works well enough for me.
Under normal circumstances I agree with you completely, but in the case of the OP it will be easy to reproduce. He is ordering 10ml flavor shots. For a 10% mix he simply dumps the flavor shot in and fills up with base.
The next time he does that, it will be exactly the same. If he made his own flavor bases, then what you said applies 100%.
Father's Milk? That sounds disgusting. Lol.
If someone hasn't mentioned it if by airing out you mean leaving the cap off, your juices would be better not doing that.
Thx for the tip - what I meant was I shake the bottle, open the cap for a few seconds, then close it back? I heard it from "vape shop guy" - should I not be doing even that?
theres no real point to removing the lid after you shake it unless your wanting to vape some of have a sniff, some flavours benefit from venting (alcohol based) but even then I dont tend to vent them as I use so little
I am freestyling. But I remember the measurements. I just dont like making to my recipes anymore. The yare all lovely, i'm just bored of them so im smashing random fruits together. The ratio is always the same though with the dominant flavour being less than the more subtle flavour. ezpz
It's one thing to experiment. It's something else to mix randomly with no ability to replicate results later. Pretty much everything I make is experimental (since I don't see a lot of recipes out there that suit me) but I usually have fairly accurate measurements...
all my stuff in free style.. I don't follow or vape any other people crap. I just vape whatever works for me.
It seems that using high quality and fresh ingredients and not overloading everything with sweetener makes a good juice regardless, barring nasty flavors that just don't work. I didn't even look on this sub before my first order, just got stuff that sounded good to me. It's worked out pretty well so far. It made me realize that most of the bought-juices I didn't enjoy had distinct symptoms of just being old or made with low-quality nicotine.
