Any of you superfine, radically beautiful folks have some creative ideas for amplifying a yellow cake flavor to its absolute maximum? FW and/or JF Yellow Cake.
The defining quality of Yellow Cake, to me, is that yellow flavor. That's due to the inclusion of egg yolks. Introducing accent flavors with a strong eggy flavor should, in my hypothesis, bolster that yellow flavor. I have achieved only moderate success in my experiments. Custards, meringue (I know), etc. I have yet to decide on a Vanilla to try in conjunction with those, but that is my next step. I'll figure that out when I get there. Cake texture isn't of interest whatsoever; only that sweet yellow goodness. I've played with FW at 1.5-3% and JF at 2-6%, but only a couple combos of them both in my toying about.
What ideas come to mind? What could make a yellow cake flavor "pop tits" beyond its ordinary capability? Any weird ideas? Any normal ideas? Bad ideas? Anything? What's the gnarliest amount of a Yellow Cake flavoring you've ever used with success? How'd you get away with it?
I'm looking to make yellow cake smack you in the fucking mouth like a twisted cousin at yer birthday party slammed your head into that shit and you're crying but it's a good pain 'cause it tastes like liberty and a better childhood.

Whilst I whole heartedly agree on the addition of holy vanilla, I'd like to introduce TFA French vanilla deluxe to the conversation. It's not spoken of around these parts too much but IMO it's a wonderful vanilla flavour, sometimes I actually prefer it over holy vanilla (yep, I said it, bring on the vanilla police)

Is there a combo of flavorings that come close to replacing/emulating the FW yellow cake flavoring? Want to completely move away from that flavoring after hearing about the negitave properties of the flavor; shame because it's one of my favs
I totally understand your aversion to FW YC. There isn't a replacement that I've found. I kind of quit looking though. JF at high percentages comes close, but it doesn't really scratch that itch if you've had FW. It has off notes like anise, and the texture gets weird IMO.
I hate to even develop recipes with FW YC, but this is a recipe I'm making more for myself than anything. (As are most of my recipes lol) I had a good, long think about what direction I wanted to take things and wound up on FW being viable. Hell, my most popular recipe has Rich Cinnamon in it. That's expensive and kinda bad for you. At least FW is harmful AND cheap. Haha.
Which custards have you tried?
That WF Crepe might work, just based on SFT'ing it. It's super eggy.

Been mixing for about 6 months now. I have around 30 bottles of concentrates, mostly fruits but I've started to move more towards the bakery side of things.
At first I was picking random recipes from ATF/posts on here, but nothing really stood out and made me say 'wow!'.
Compared to store bought juice, the flavour just isn't there. It's all very... muted. For example, a kiwi cheesecake. There's no distinct kiwi flavour or cheesecake flavour, it's just a bland mess.

Let them steep for their recommended time. Out of those bunch, only the Sugar Cookie and Cinnamon Apple Danish taste good. The rest are just bland, no pronounced flavours.
The Peach and Cream one is horrendous. Absolutely horrible throat burning from that one.
Kiwi cheesecake is mehhh.
Nana Cream and Mustard Milk were both bland.
Mother of Dragons Milk wasn't bad, but felt a bit washed out.

Kylin RTA, .15ohm with staggered fused claptons (7 wrap @ 3mm).

If you think store bought juices taste better than any of the diy stuff, maybe you need to add a ton of sweetener to each mix, as that's what these premium juices are, Just filled with sucralose

As mentioned, a few of my juices turned out alright. Namely cinnamon & apple danish and sugar cookie. Have you mixed up any of the others I mentioned?
What vg/pg ratio are you mixing with? Nic level? After a while blowing huge clouds at 3mg wasn't allowing me to get a good feel for what each flavoring offers. I might suggest using more PG, upping your nic level, tightening your airflow and turning down the power on your mod to produce less vapor. I hated high PG at first, but learned to like it.
70/30 and 3mg. I'm getting more flavour from my BabyBeast than I am my Kylin RTA, but I'd put that down to my build/wick technique (new to RTAs).
I thought increased PG would lead to issues with wicking?
I'm looking at getting a Serpent Mini for some smaller builds/tighter space between chimney & coils and to chuck less clouds. I'm hoping that will amp up the flavour a tad. The Kylin seems to thrive on large airflow.
Could anyone suggest a kit for a starter to buy? I've only found a couple of kits online. But I don't know the quality of the juice and flavoring.
I also feel like I could skip the kit and just buy some bottles and measuring supplies and it be cheaper. But what do I know :)
Also I live in Texas so I was wondering about the effects of heat during shipping on the flavors and juices. Should I just have the post office hold the package so it isn't riding in a hot mail truck?

If I do go this route I would probably start off with 70 30 mixes, but should I get vg or pg nicotine.
Most people here don't recommend starter kits as they include a lot of useless items that you'll never use. It's better to find a recommend vendor that sells VG,PG,Nicotine and flavorings all in one spot so you can get the best bang for your buck. Nicotine River and Ecigexpress are probably your best bet. Buy flavors for recipes instead of what sounds good.
Shipping in the heat isn't that big of a deal considering it's about 3-5 days max. I've never had any issues personally and I live where it has been 95+ everyday for the last 3 months.
Sourcing everything in your first order from the same vendor will save on shipping costs.
I don't know your budget, but I recommend getting the AWS-LB501 Digital Scale from Amazon, currently $35 USD. This way, you never have to touch pipettes, syringes, beakers, cylinders, etc. and just pour everything into the bottle you'll end up carrying the juice in. You can easily exceed $35 buying all that other mixing crap so just start off mixing by weight using the scale. Super easy.
Bottles: Get whatever size you like to buy in store. I like 30mL bottles but that's because I'm constantly switching flavors (which you might start doing too once you see how fun DIY is!). Having said that, I'd also recommend getting a set of 10mL "tester" bottles. This lets you try out recipes and experiment without wasting too much flavoring / nic / VG / PG.
Also as /u/chewymidget saidbuy flavorings for specific, well reviewed recipes instead of random flavorings. I didn't do this when I started out and regret it. This helps make the initial mixing experience more enjoyable since you'll be making good juice right off the bat.
Here's a quick list:
- Digital scale
- Assorted size bottles (10mL and something else like 30mL or 60mL, depending on preference)
- I use condiment bottles for my VG/PG because honestly it's pretty damn difficult to pour from a half gallon bottle into a tiny 30mL bottle ;-)
- 120mL of nicotine at 100mg/mL concentration suspended in PG (you can go smaller, 120mL will last you a while but I think it's a good starting size). I see no point to VG or mixed VG/PG nicotine. PG is what all your flavorings are suspended in.
- 1 qt PG
- Half gallon of VG (this is your biggest consumable so don't be afraid to get an entire gallon)
- Enough flavorings to mix three recipes you find that appeal to you and are highly reviewed / rated by the community
- Paper towel. Lots and lots of paper towel. Maybe even stock in whatever company sells Bounty
- Masking tape or cheap mailing labels for your bottles

Two questions about nicotine:

Base: 100% VG, 100% PG, or 50/50? Is there any reason to choose one over the other? Other than to achieve a certain "max VG" or "max PG"? I always mix to 70/30 VG/PG. Concentration seems obvious: with 100mg/mL, you use less base and it lasts longer.

100% VG 48mg/mL base has a slight yellow tinge, but a noticeable pepper smell. It may be affecting mixes at 3mg/mL. It has an expiration date on the bottle of Jan. 2018. Purchased 21-Mar-2017. Is this normal over time? Would you throw it away at this point? I may mix up some 0-nic juice for testing purposes. If the nic is bad, I would just throw it away, no need to contact the company. It has been 6 months...
PG has twice the shelf life of VG, nic is less prone to separating from it and it's much easier to use. Go for PG based nic.
A slight yellow tinge is normal for aging nic, but the pepper smell means it may be more harsh than you like. There's no harm in using it, but if you prefer a smoother vape, you may want to resupply.
I think this may explain some of the issues I have with vaping at higher wattages. My low-power setup (DNA 75 with Pulse 22) works well with the juice I make, but my high-power setup (Kaos with TFV8) can be harsh enough to make me cough.

Preference I think. It's only 1.81mL in a 60mL batch if mixed at 3mg, I just do 100% PG so it ends up the same as almost all flavorings (i.e. everything is PG based).

Would it be better to transfer nic out of the plastic bottle into amber glass bottles? Or is it fine to be left in the plastic bottle. It would be stored in a drawer in an air conditioned room. This is for when I order another batch, here shortly.
Oh I very much doubt VG/PG matters in regard to shelf-life. I'm not a chemist though. But I've never come across anyone saying anything one way or the other about that. **EDIT: /u/leapinglabrats replied PG is better for shelf life and I missed that reply. I trust him/her. **
Nicotine I'm using I keep in a 30mL unicorn tip boston round. I have a 120mL bottle in the fridge I use to fill the 30mL "active" bottle. Then I have 2x 240mL bottles in the freezer. All are in their original plastic LDPE containers as shipped from the manufacturer. It's important to reduce oxygen content, so you don't want a lot of "head space" which is air at the top of the container. The more you use, the more air fills the container leading to oxidation. So this depends on how quickly you use it.
tl;dr breaking it down won't hurt, but I don't think it's 100% necessary either. Just don't mix directly from a large (> 60mL) bottle, constantly being shaken. That'll accelerate the oxidation process.
Just gonna throw this out there to see what people say. What's a good Green apple flavor that tastes like you took a bite out of a granny smith apple, not that green jolly rancher crap. I've tried Flavor West "Natural" Green apple and Green apple by signature (TFA) both taste highly artificial like green jolly ranchers and that's not what i'm trying to get.
Also, What's the difference between menthol's cuz I see so many. For example I see a lot of people mention Koolada, and WS-23 and even menthol crystals. I'm just looking for the cooling effect when you vape, I don't want the menthol to be altering the flavors of my liquid.
I can't help with the Apple, but for the cooling sensation, stay away from Menthol because that will add Menthol flavor. Koolada doesn't agree with some people, and they end up tasting it instead of just feeling it like they/you want. FA Polar Blast is Koolada with a little bit of something else, but people that don't like Koolada may find it tolerable. From everything I've heard, WS23 seems to be your best bet. It's strong, and doesn't ruin the juice with any kind of flavor.
Thanks for the insight, as it turns out when I placed my first order of DIY supplies from ecigexpress, I got some WS23 out of curiosity and their own "menthol solution" however I haven't gotten around to sampling either of them, but its nice to know a little more information about the different types of cooling additives.
I'm stuck on INW Two Apples and FA Fuji, and have never had a need for authentic green apple... but look at the Apple Weekly Flavor thread. There are references to green apple, and comments related to candy flavors.
Looks like some people are having luck mixing a candy leaning green apple flavor with a straight apple flavor to get the candy notes out of the main profile. I hope that helps, and good luck!
So I'm placing an order to DIY in about a week. I'm getting Capella Bavarian Cream and TFA Fruit Circles since I had seen a simple Fruit Loops recipe with these as the only 2 flavorings.
I can't seem to find the recipe anymore. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Meh, I personally like TFA Fruit circles if used at 5% or below. I don't get a lemon pledge flavor from it.
You'll need berry crunch, cookie or cereal 27 to get that cereal taste. Fruit circles doesn't really have that. Preferably cookie or cereal 27.
So after a long wait I mixed up CC's Shurb v4. It's amazing and exactly what I was looking for. It's fruit profile but one that keeps your taste buds busy.
Anyways, what I found with that juice is even after washing my tank thoroughly, the smell lingers around which passes on to my next juice. Just a heads up, that it probably requires it's own separate tank. Until now, I had no problems switching from fruits to custards to bakery, after washing and rewicking.

Anyone ever try OOO's coconut milk flavoring? I've had a 10ml for a long time now and want to try and use it in a mix, maybe something simple like a coconut milk cream? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I might be able to use it? Also have ooo rice pudding which I have found a bit more info online about, and apparently it's pretty horrible, if anyone has any ideas on how to use that please let me know! Feeling very experimental these last few days, trying to mess around with flavorings I hardly use.
My experience with any of OOO's flavors that say "milk" is that they do not taste like they have milk or creaminess involved in them. I've been slightly annoyed by all of their cereal offerings I have tried. Supposedly the Undertones one is good though.

This may be a stupid question, but... When seeing descriptions and reviews of various juices, people describe getting one flavor on the inhale and then another comes out on the exhale. Is there a trick to mixing two flavors (say A and B) such that you get the A on the inhale and B on the exhale, but mixing another way reverses that? Like mixing up a mocha flavor, to make it so the chocolate or the coffee comes out first? Or will for any given flavor concentrate, that flavor be predominantly evident on one or the other?
Flavor layering. It has nothing to do with how it's mixed technique-wise. Just knowing how certain flavors work with each other at different percentages.
Ok, so part of it is dependent on the flavors, but adjusting the percentages is the answer... but it's not something that can really be researched, it has to be experimentally determined.
Burnt - I just put 5% CAP Strawberry Sweet with 50:50 and it tastes burnt. Ideas?
Premixed premium juices do not, via my limitless rdta plus with clapton @ 0.4, 20 watt, evic mini mod. I tried 10% TFA DX banana cream and it was super strong and sweet, but not burnt.
I'd start by checking the coil. That mixture definitely doesn't taste burnt to me at 6% or 12%.
To confirm, you can taste strawberry? I'm somewhat of a strawberry non-taster, and most strawberry juices to me taste "burnt" as well, or like I'm only tasting my wick.
Can someone recommend where to get good 30ml PET bottles? I've ordered Chubby Gorilla and a no-name brand from a few different places and they always seem to be leaky and have loose nozzles. (I use LDPE at home, but was hoping PET would be sturdier for shipping and travel)
By what measurement do you guys mix your juices? Basically, mL's ,Drops, percentages, grams? Which do you think is the best for accuracy?
Percentages for sharing recipes - so people can make whatever amount they want. Grams for actually mixing them.
Hello, I am new to vaping and I find buying pre mixed ejuice expensive, especially with my setup which is a subohm. It really burns the juice really fast and my wallet too. I love this setup so I am willing to compromise by doing simple diy juices to save money. My questions are:
Can I buy a premixed unflavored VG/PG then mixed it with a flavoring? I mean, just like that? Because I found out that you can smoke a base VG and PG on their own. 2. Since I am a lazy person, can I just drop the flavoring right into my tank after filling it with VG/PG base?

I wouldn't recommend that. It won't mix as evenly and you'll be shaking the hell out of your tank to get it to mix which just seems like a terrible idea. It's only one extra step to mix it together into an empty bottle and then fill your tank.

Substituting those will change the recipe, just so you know. CAP Golden Pineapple may be the better out of the two, but TFA Pineapple does have its place at low percentages like that. Try 5% for that.
I wouldn't sub Peach (Juicy) for any peach. I do not like it as the main peach in a recipe, although, just like TFA Pineapple, it's good for boosting other Peach flavors. Try 3%. Be aware that that flavor can be harsh for some people.
Is that 5% (CAP) Golden Pineapple to substitute for 0.75% (TFA) Pineapple or did you mean 0.5%?

After taking a rather scatter shot approach to flavour purchases I've started to focus more on buying flavours that will allow me to make recipes. So INW Cactus and TFA Honeysuckle amongst others are arriving shortly.
So, I'm not a brand new mixer I've been mixing since July. The 800ml or so I ordered the first time is just now starting to run out. Anyways, I've learned a lot since then (including how to tweak and "fix" juices that have too little flavoring, or not enough variety) and I just have a little question that I haven't been able to figure out through Google. Are NET's and WTA's essentially the same thing? Honestly, I don't see any scientific reasoning that extracting the flavor from tobacco with PG wouldn't grab all of the alkaloids as well.
According to the NET Wiki the amount of nicotine extracted with a typical NET method is pretty negligible. I always assume 0 nic in my NET when mixing, and I haven't noticed any sort of nic overload because of it. This patent for extracting tobacco alkaloids seems to suggest it's all a bit more complicated than steeping in PG.
What if you cold steeped it for a much longer period of time, say 3-4 months?

Scaling up to get enough nic to vape for months or years is simply too expensive for even someone like me, and way too dangerous. Too time consuming too. Atr this point just buying nic liquid is a far better route.

where I am confused at it the PG/VG ratio? Most commercial juices that I have bought were 70 VG/30 PG, should I start with that? Any recommendations are appreciated.
So I made 100ml of a recipe that originally had 3% TFA Peanut Butter in it, except I decided to substitute it with CAP Peanut Butter at 2% as I already had a bottle. It's been steeping for 4 full weeks already and the PB really overpowers the whole bottle giving it a "burnt" taste.
I know it's the PB that gives it a bad taste for sure as I mixed a 30ml bottle of the same recipe sans PB and just after one night it tastes great, exactly what I was hoping for with this mix.
I know it was dumb to make 100ml of a recipe I haven't mixed before, but I thought it'd be fine as I've had experience with all the flavourings involved before (although I've only used CAP PB at a much lower percentage).
Is there any way at all to recover this now?

Been playing around with TFA Kool Effects, mixed at 5% first couple of times for a nice cool vape - no problems.
Tried it with blue Raspberry Cotton Candy and it looks like I've made a load of meth on the inside of my bottle...
Good to vape? Or should I just bin it? Im thinking the sweetener is the cause, but should I steer clear of mixing it with anything else?

While going through ELR for a recipie to mix, I noticed a lot of the recipies are from years ago. Listening to the diy or die podcast it sounds like flavor companies have changed or discontinued some of their flavors over the past year or two. So I'm just curious which popular flavors might have changed but still have the same name? Would suck to order a flavor thinking it is one thing, and then finding out it has been changed.
Is this a very common thing or are most flavor companies pretty good with changing the flavor name like cap or TFA with their v2 and DX series of flavors?
Reformulations really only happen because the manufacture can't source certain aromas or they find DA/AP in the final solution. CAP and TFA have given people options with the V2 or DX lines instead of straight discontinuing the original flavor. Other manufactures like INW recently reformulated a lot of flavorings because they couldn't source certain aromas anymore and kept the name the same. So you won't know if you're getting the better or worse version.
It's not super common to answer your question but it does happen from time to time.

Its nice to see that CAP and TFA are at least letting their customers know; it must really suck having a recipe dialed in with some INW flavorings and then finding out the flavoring isnt the same anymore. Also really sad they discontinued their waffle flavor :(
I have some recipes that I use sweetener(tpa), but I'm running low. I do have super sweet (cap) and cotton candy (tpa).
What would be the ratio of SS and CC to be similar to sweetener tpa?
I typically use sweetener (tpa) at around %2.
TFA Sweetener is 5% Sucralose and 5% Maltol
TFA Cotton Candy is 10% Ethyl Maltol
Cap Super Sweet is 20% sucralose
To achieve the same level of sweetness with SS as you do with TFA Sweetener you would use 4x less so .5%
I would omit Cotton Candy all together TBH. It mutes and it isn't a sweetener, it just tastes sweet.
Have you tried those recipes without sweetener?
I have. After steeping for a few weeks and tasting, I added some sweetener back. I like my liquids sweet, but not store bought sweet.

I do have a credit card but was worried about using it since I heard about peoples cards being used unauthorized. NR does sell everything separately but it will cost more than the kit. I checked BCF but they don't carry nicotine so I still have to get nicotine from somewhere else. Also their shipping is very expensive.
Which of the two is better to store my mixes, PE or PET bottles?
They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I prefer LDPE because I don't store juice for very long, rarely over a month, and it is much easier to use due to the softness of the bottles. PET and HDPE is better than LDPE at retaining volatiles, but PET may still crack and leak plastic into the juice, HDPE isn't much better. All plastic retains smell to some degree and is prone to bacterial growth. Glass is far superior for long term storage.
TL;DR - LDPE for frequent use, glass for long term storage.
Placing my first DIY Order.. I'm a vanilla/custard fan almost exclusively. I found some local brand that made a flavor called "Vanilla Custard" and I loved it. I also vaped De La Creme from Oasis to death. Infamous Trill (Blackberry, Strawberry, Custard) and it was the only one with fruit I've actually enjoyed so far. Any suggestions of a really good vanilla custard recipe I can make that doesn't require 500 flavors and still tastes good?

This may interest you. I'd maybe suggest getting smaller sizes on your flavors in case you end up not liking some of them, and you can get more in your cart if you've got a set budget.
Thanks! Sounds good. I was just trying to get some larger amounts while everything is on sale, and it seems like those are "safe bets." I will look at cutting back and switching it up a bit.
Those probably are safe bets, and sale season is a good time to splurge. If you're feeling really good about that recipe, you could get 120 ml of Vanilla Custard and Vanilla Swirl, and then 60 ml of the other creams/vanilla, and a 10 ml of the cinnamon danish swirl and you'd be able to make about 3,500 ml.
my suggestion is dont buy 120ml of concentrated flavoring you have not tried. buy smaller sizes.
I would normally not buy so much, but it's an extra $3 for 4 times as much. (30ml for 3-6 vs 120ml for 6-12) Especially with the sale, it's worth it. (note, 12 after sale becomes 9, and it helps me reach my minimum for free shipping)
my reasoning is if you dont like them then its 6-12 for 0ml (of usable flavor).
the good news is those are generally accepted as good flavors
the bad news is youre going to get tired of em and wished you had ordered more types of flavors.
also youre gambling 12$ over like 3$ savings. risk > reward imo. youd prolly save more by buying vg in bulk instead of flavors i.e. 24$ is half a glycube

Great, thanks! I was searching in the sidebar for a "baseline" number somewhere, but I guess that would be what the flavor maker recommends? I've seen, for example, "start at 5%..." and what have you. Only reason I ask is my total percentage of flavor is around 10-16% and I'm wondering if I'm high or low on that average.
Going to do a couple single flavor tests/notes - just wondering what you would suggest for a good percentage. I'm going to be giving OoO rice pudding and OoO coconut milk a try, just not too sure what percentage to start out at. Maybe 5%?
Cooling question: Just tried a commercial liquid Iced Reds Apple Juice by 7daze. It has a huge hit of cooling up front on the inhale. Then the cooling fades and vape finishes as a nice bright apple. What kind of additive could they be possibly be using? I have koolada, but the cooling comes through at the end on that. Is it WS23?
I use the one kit from ukecigstore and I found out how cheaper it is to make it yourself but I haven't seen any high pg recipes for example: pg/vg 70/30 Which is what I use atm because It feels like a ciggerate. So is it normal and if so links?
You can mix any recipe at whatever ratio you want. When a recipe on ELR shows a PG/VG ratio, that just means that's what the creator mixed it at. You can hit "Adapt This" and put in whatever you want. On ATF the "Suggested VG" is pretty much saying "this is how I mix it." But it's not required.
I'm looking to get started in making my own juice and found liquidnicotinewholesalers, their prices look pretty competitive compared to many of the other vendors out there, but I don't see this company mentioned much here and was curious how they compare before I placed an order.
They are pretty new. I got a sample of their VG to try out when they first launched. I've heard mixed opinions about their nicotine. I would personally go with someone else as they had some interesting claims about others concerns. They most likely use Nicselect as their source a lot of others do as well. Liquid barn or ecigexpress would probably be better alternatives if your looking for really cheap nicotine.
They aren't new. They've been posting in this sub for a few years but became a verified vendor less than a year ago.
That said I've never used them and have no idea if they sell quality nic but their prices seem to be on par with other NicSelect resellers.
Any suggestions on what might give more of a sugar coating? I'be been playing with my own peach rings recipe it uses: TFA juicy peach, Gummi bear FA, sour TFA was thinking 1% sweetener would help with that feeling trying to decide if cap super sweet or regular sweetener or EM would be better for seeking this effect

What is the best way to go about getting suggestions for a clone recipe? I like the Neptune juice from mister e liquid, but I don't like the price and I can't put my finger on any of the flavors.
The website says it is strawberry+blueberry+vanilla, I've tried mixing these flavors and not gotten close at all.

Tobacco flavors as an additive/emulsifier?
I have never been a big fan of tobacco dominant juice flavors, but I've mixed tobacco juices with bakery juices and found it added a nice notes sometimes. So I'm just wondering if it's worth picking up a few tobacco concentrates to use more like an additive or emulsifier in my mixes. If so, which ones would work best to compliment mostly dessert and bakery flavors?
I think the Flavors Express/Super Concentrates tobaccos work well in dessert mixes. FE Captain, Cigar, Hongtashan, French Pipe, MLB, Blended, Knt are all pretty good. Have some chocolate notes that I really like mixed with vanilla and some nuts.
Awesome thanks for the suggestions! There's something about certain tobaccos that really seems like it would work with more earthy bold heavy dessert type flavors. Like a hazelnut tobacco cream or custsrd I think would be really nice. Prob not an adv type jucie but still very tasty.

Evaporate after mixing?
So aside from steep time which I understand well, I've been leaving my juice uncapped for 12 hrs post mixing. This is a step I incorporated early based on advice I read when I first started mixing. The reason was to let the "alcohols and esters" in the flavor evaporate which makes the juice awesome from day one (post steeping of course). Is this necessary?
My typical process is mixing a presteeped flavor base (usually several months old), leave uncapped for 12 hrs, then cap it and vape whenever. Advice?
I would mention I use nic salts which do not seem to carry the post mixing steep time penalty freebase nic does.
Breathing is not necessary. All flavors do not contain alcohol. Even the few that do only require normal steeping time to evaporate. Leaving the cap off only allows the fragile flavor volatiles to escape from your mix, only doing harm.
Flavor bases do not steep. Steeping refers to flavors combining through the entirety of the finished mix. Letting concentrated flavor bases sit does nothing.
Nicotine has no part in steeping. Whether you are using salts or freebase, the result does not change.
All juice needs to steep whether you use freebase nic or not. Steeping is letting the aroma molecules latch onto the VG which takes more time than with PG.
Letting the juice sit with the cap off may be ok if you're not expecting to keep the bottle around for a long time. It will degrade the flavor because along with alcohol evaporation, flavor will evaporate as well. This is not recommended and whoever told you that was wrong.
There are maybe a handful of times where letting a mix breath would be acceptable but for 99% of flavorings out there it does more harm than good.
If you are planning on consuming the whole batch in a week or so, then it would not be much of a worry. Either way, you're letting excess air into your mix and letting flavor go out of the mix. Alcohol will evaporate with a normal steep. So once you mix and let it sit for a week, there should be no trace of the alcohol or whatever else you're trying to avoid.
Is it possible to over steep juice? I have a strawberry cream that I made, the sweet spot is about 9 days. Will going past this 9 days negatively affect the flavor?
As long as you properly store it correctly you should see about 8-12 months before it "goes bad".
Well, that's good news. Odds are I won't be steeping a juice for more than a month without using it.
I think it depends on the flavors and personal preference of what you want to be tasting. I've bought fresh mixed juice, liked it and vaped it for a week, pick it back up a month later and a certain flavor comes out in that time and is too overpowering and I dont like it as much. I have next to no experience mixing but when I bought strawberry creams they would just get too powerful and flavorful after a month or so. I like lighter flavoring.
Going to do my second mix sesh ever right now, I'm going to do a 120ml of Hawaiian pog remix, but I want it to be icy. You guys use koolada at 1% usually right? Would adding arctic winter too give it a gross minty flavor or what would you recommend?
Arctic winter is menthol. If that's what you want, go for it. Have you made the recipe before? It's not wise to make such large batches when you start out.

First off, does Cherry compliment Cappuccino chemically? Secondly, I've made a recipe with these two flavors that suck. Tastes rather weak as a S&V. I've got another batch steeping in Sous to see how it compares. Cherry seems to be the most dominant. I taste the Cappuccino faintly. I figure with some steep time the Cherry will weaken even more and the creams will be more dominant. Care to help a noob out? Or will this even work together? Here's the recipe: VG: 40% PG 60% Total Flavor 10.20%

FA Marshmellow 2%

If I were trying this, I'd probably sub out marshmallow and maybe whipped cream for a white chocolate instead (only because I'm not sure how a straight cherry cappuccino would work). You could also try dropping the FA Cherry a bit- it might be a bit too much combined with the Black Cherry.

The Cherry isn't even overbearing or strong, everything is pretty weak in general.
That's probably going to need a few days to a week considering the flavors you used. Skip additives like Smooth. 99.9 % of the time, they are unnecessary. I'm not sure how Cherry and Cappuccino would go together. I've never had anything like it beverage-wise, so it's possible it may work.
By the way, skip screwing around with heat.
At what point does the size of the batch of juice affect steeping times? I've started mixing 250ml at a time and wondering if my custards and bakeries will require a longer steep than if it was 30ml
If the mixes are the same exact ones as the 30ml, you've shaken them up enough (obviously the 250 ml would require a lot more shaking) and they would all be sitting in a dark place somewhere, there shouldn't really be any difference in steeping time.

Was given a massive 16oz bottle of TPA irish cream from a friend that decided to move his small juice company away from any diketone flavorings. Wanted to figure out a way to use it so i decided to try my hand at my second original recipie. This is just the first draft but id love to get some feedback - haha take it easy on me im kind of winging it at this point. Any feedback or suggestions is much appreciated!
So what i was going for was a Pralines and Cream Ice cream flavor, with little bits of half frozen bakery bits throughout the ice cream (dunno what those things are called); and topped off with a splash of baileys liqueur to add a bit of an alcoholic irish cream taste. This recipe is very much a work in progress, i just came up with it tonight and just finished mixing my first tester bottle. So far its a pretty decent Shake and Vape, i feel like there are things i could do to make the individual flavor notes stand apart from each other though. The nuttyness seems like it could be more prominent. Of course this one will probably change after a steep as well, so i will have to wait and see how it turns out.

Only the vanilla says invert sugar, the peppermint does not, is the peppermint OK?
