As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week's flavor is: Icing/Frosting
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested. If you're not interested in this FOTW, please take this opportunity and comment to suggest one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

This just reminded me I really need to buy another bottle of Loranns Cream Cheese Icing. So good but I somehow lost mine. If anyone doesn't have an icing flavor, start there.
That stuff is so good. I was just talking to /u/cheebasteeba about it last night.
These are my favorite uses for it:
That last one especially; magic happens when 1.5% LA CCI meets 1% FA Meringue.
I never had the other 2 but def sweet strawberry cream and golden oreo are also my favorite uses for la cci...does any1 else get a frosting vibe from OOO vanilla custard cheesecake
LMN# is Simply Amazing was very surprised it wasn't nominated for recipe of the year last year. Much like your glazed donut this recipe ruined me for months. Very interested in this weeks show I have been playing around with cream cheese icing which you can see in my last two recipes. I'm curious to see if any of the other frosting icing flavorings can work as that cereal varnish you get in ncm Pebbles recipe.
How cheesy is this flavour?
I've been thinking of getting some but I'm not the biggest fan of very cheesy cream cheese icing and I also hate anything that's stronger than moderately-butyric.
The frosting base used in Dunkaroos by Goldfish has been wonderful to apply to other recipes. For the lazy here's the base:
MFR|Flavor|%
:--:|:--:|:--:
DFS|Holy Vanilla|1.5%
FA|Meringue|1%
CAP|Vanilla Custard V1|1.5%
Edit: Derp, Holy Vanilla is 1.5%, also consider adding 1% FW Hazelnut.
Thanks man. 1.5% Holy Vanilla, though :)
Also, I think the FW Hazelnut in there helps create a malty note that just jives so well with meringue and holy vanilla. FW Hazelnut is really a magical thing.
If anyone has anything to say I'm very interested in a creamy sweet icing
Butter cream icing or cream cheese icing?
I have a butter flavor. But I'm interested In the subject in general, what's a good icing/frosting I can add to my collection
All of them? CAP Butter Cream + FA Meringue. LA Cream Cheese Icing by itself or with a little FA Meringue. FLV Frosting. OOO Vanilla Frosting (one of the few good OOO flavors). CAP Vanilla Cupcake or TFA Vanilla Cupcake (both have some bakery notes but way more frosting, and chances are bakery notes aren't going to hurt whatever you're using putting icing on).
I haven't tried WF Buttercream Frosting yet but it smells like it's going to be amazing; I mixed a tester of it yesterday morning. Remind me in a week for results.
Simple go-to mix for me is Cap Vanilla Cupcake V1 @ 5% along with some LA Cream Cheese Icing @ 1%. Good ol cream cheese cupcake. You can throw whatever fruits you want on top of it as well. I like it with .5% CAP Harvest Berry. Makes for a great vape with your morning brew.
You drink your vapes?
How is that on coils? Sounds good, but I try to stick to juices that can last a week or so.
I couldn't give you an honest assessment on that since I rewick every other day like clockwork.
one of my local vape shops makes something that has LA cream cheese icing, peach and blueberry in it. it was my go to flavor for a year or more and i miss it! if anyone has a receipe that is peach dominant but has these 3 in it, please post it!
OOO vanilla frosting is so damn good.
CAP and TFA Vanilla cupcake are also good for icing flavors, with a touch of bakery notes.
The best however, is FLV frosting.
LA CCI pales in comparison to these.
I've heard a few times from different sources that FLV Frosting requires some steeping, and I tend to heed advice like that, so I've never tried it unsteeped. What's the problem with it unsteeped and how long does it need to steep?
It can be a little throaty similar to FLV cream, and as it steeps, it just becomes more and more dense and sweet.
So, it's not bad unsteeped, just not at its full potential
