Cleaning and reusing old juice bottles to store VG?
submitted about 8 years ago by quackyo

I recently ventured into DIY ejuice mixing and loving it so far, but the first thing I noticed is how thick the VG is! I've been using droppers and syringes so far but I need something quicker.

I have a 200ml ejuice bottle that's almost finished (Bazooka Apple Sour Straws) and I was wondering how to properly clean it up (esp. being such a sour flavor) so I can safely pour the VG in it? Will rinsing a few time in water do it, or something else perhaps?

if it's glass just soap and water. set out to dry, rinse, dry. you want no residue. rubbing alcohol might work better for this.

if it's plastic the flavor is probably stuck in there. at least the aroma will be.

You're fine. I use 2 northland vapor recycled 120ml bottles for VG/PG go bottles. They stop smelling after one refill and no taste.

I'm reusing one of their bottles, too. It's my fav. :)

It's certainly safe. Will it affect flavor? Nah. Smell? A little. But will not affect your end product. But Note I'm no super taster like those who trash their 30mm bottles after one use or wear gloves while wicking.

Yeah, I'd rather not be that obsessive...takes out all the fun IMO. VG goes into my 200ml plastic bottle then.

A condiment bottle is great for VG

Thabk you. Don't know how I didn't think of this. I have a badass ketchup bottle.

I would get a fresh new bottle. Don't want to end up with ketchup flavored vg. This is what I use. I buy vg by the gallon and easily fill these guys up to use when mixing. SET OF 2 -- 24 Oz. (Ounce) Large Clear Squeeze Bottle, Condiment Squeeze Bottle, Open-Tip, Screw-On Spout, Polyethylene Durable Plastic, Diner Style https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009D9Z7TS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_84RJzb0QA0Y9Q

I fully agree with this. I used to warm the VG up in a sink of hot before using a condiment bottle I bought off eBay and then use a pipette. I don't bother with now. Just do a direct squeeze into the juice I'm making up.

Yeah that's a noob mistake alot of us made. I remember the first month or so trying to syringe VG 10ml at a time. Lol...would spend 30min making a 30ml.

Scale + squeeze/drip is the way to go for sure. Method I find works best is always do the VG last. It makes up the biggest % of what your using, so you know that's what your filling to the top of the bottle for the end product. I can eyeball it pretty close after doing it so many times.

I use mason jars when creating and storing juice. They have measurement markers on the outsides. Mine tell me ounces and ml but it only goes by 100 ml at a time.

It's easy using ounces. When I'm done using on I throw it in the dishwasher and it's good as new.

Then when making juice storing it is perfect in the jars. When steeping I open them once a day to let in some air and shake them at least 3 times.

Easy to store, easy to clean and the jars have many more uses than just juice.

As far as measuring goes, I use a turkey syringe which holds up to 30ml/1oz filled. If I'm doing larger quantity measuring. A simple measuring cup suffices.
