Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of August 11, 2017
submitted about 8 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Have you tried CAP Lemon Lime all by itself @ 4%?

by jeebz_about 8 years ago

I did. While it was nice it was off a bit on the beverage rating front. Also very muted tastes @7%

Depending on how strong your pineapple is 1-2% with 2% fresh cream and 1.5% Catalan. I have a fairly aggressive pineapple and I use it at 1% or less for creamy purposes.

I can't strongly recommend anything using only these flavors. Try mixing them all by themselves as standalone flavors at 1 to 3%. Take notes on the flavors and then decide for yourself which ones you want to mix together and whether you want that flavor to stand out or to only be an a accent. Then try some simple two-flavor mixes such as

3% Custard + 1.5% Cream Fresh

2% Catalan Cream + 1.5% Cream Fresh

2% Cookie + 2% Catalan Cream

2% Cookie + 1% Maple Syrup

My ADVs are "Strawberry + Pear With Sugar On Top" + "Mother of Dragons Milk"

I vape at 9 mg/ml Nic and 70% VG

I can't really taste strawberry (It's just a generic sweet fruity flavour to me).

Would love a fruity SNV using the Koolada that actually tastes of what it's supposed to taste of!

Try D Cream. You can shake and vape it but it would be better to give it three days. You can try adding some Koolada to that (around 0.25%). Also try 5% Juicy Peach, 1% Fuji Apple, 2% Vanilla Swirl, 2% Strawberry, 0.5% Koolada. Again shake and vapeable but better after a week. With a few exceptions, this improve over time.

by io_thanaterosabout 8 years ago

Thanks, going to try both, with and without Koolada.

Mixed D Cream without Koolada.

T=0 days Not bad so far. The VBIC is moderately overpowering the Fuji Apple; which I can only just detect.

I'll report back on D=3 and will then make a batch with Koolada and maybe a higher concentration of Fuji (depending on the steep)

Try 5% Strawberry Ripe, 1.5% Fuji, 5% Bavarian Cream, 3.5% Blueberry Extra.

As for new flavors you should get, you should look for recipes that look good to you and buy flavors needed to make them. Here are some recipes that make use of flavors you already have:

Citrus Punch

Watermelon Candy

Watermelon

Raspberry

Strawberry Ripe

Blueberry Extra

Bavarian Cream

Cherry

Fuji

Thanks a ton! Thank you especially for the cirus punch recipe, I ordered a 120ml bottle on accident and didn't really like the flavor on it's own, but couldn't find anything else I would want to mix with it.

I've basically just looking at specific recipes and buying the flavours to go with that. I've vaped quite a bit of mother's unicorn milk but do find the strawberry fades when the cream comes out. I like the creams but I like to fruits too. Honestly I'm up for trying something new. Anyone do anything interesting with these flavours?

Nope but I was just about to mix something so I'll give this a go. Cheers.

Any suggestions for the next couple of flavourings I get in?

OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush FW Blue Raspberry TFA Apple Candy FW Boom! FW Blueberry Candy TFA Koolada

Don't have many flavors yet as I just got into DIY last week. I've been looking to emulate one of my favorite Blue Raspberry flavors, so these were just the first few flavors I bought. I'll probably be buying a sour flavoring, a citrus soda, strawberry, and red Raspberry flavoring by the end of this week.

by ID10-Tabout 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Have you tried OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush all by itself yet? It's so good but on the weak side. Mix it standalone at 10% and just slush it up. If you need it colder, add a few drops of Koolada to the bottle after you try it.

Hey, I vape and DIY juices for about 2 years and most of my recipes involve menthol/koolada and some citric fruit because I like them so much but I would like to create some creamy desert juices so I bought a bunch of creamy/vanilla essences but cant really make any good recipe out of them, any help is appreciated. Like, what mixes well with what and what to avoid mixing.

Here's my current stash: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/publicstash/67605

PS: There's not many options of flavors available to buy in my country and most of my imports get stuck at customs because vaping products are forbidden in my country (Brazil). Also, I avoid buying essences that coantains unsafe components like Acetoin.

by ID10-Tabout 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Don't mix Koolada, Menthol, or Wintergreen with your new creamy vanilla things. That will not be good.

Don't go over 1% with TFA Toasted Almond.

Steep anything with CAP Vanilla Custard V2 in it for one month before you even bother trying it.

Try:

CAP Lemon Meringue Pie 5% + TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust 2% + CAP Vanilla Custard 3% + CAP Bavarian Cream 1.5%

And:

And TFA Creme de Menthe 2% + CAP Bavarian Cream 1.5% + TFA French Vanilla Creme 1.5% + FA Cream Fresh 1%

Thanks man! I'll try these. Any idea of steeping for this two? I'm guessing 4 weeks for the first one and 2 weeks for the second.

Also, can I get anything close to Cutwood's Unicorn Milk with what I've got? I know I don't have material for any of the clone recipes, but anything close would be good enough for me.

Those steep times look good to me.

Dunno, I've never tried Cutwood's Unicorn Milk.

Yours have been a great guide. I actually made your mango blossom macaroon last night with what I have on hand. It's steeping right now. I seem to be enjoying ones that aren't so bakery/custard heavy. It's nice when the fruits shine through more. I am still trying to get the differences between the brands down.

1 points

by ID10-Tabout 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Oh man. You might do just fine with replacing the Sugar Cookie and FLV Cream with some of these ingredients but I have a bad feeling about Mango Blossom Macaroon with INW Mango. It would be better to replace the fruit with some other fruit. Blueberry Blossom, Apple Blossom, Strawberry Blossom? Any of those sound good to you? I'll theorycraft one for ya.

Meanwhile, try Fuji 1%, TFA Strawberry 3%, Shisha Strawberry 1%, Honeysuckle 3%, Shisha Lime 0.5%.

And Shisha Strawberry 4%, Cheesecake Graham Crust 2%, Meringue 1.5%

I have a ton of juice that tastes like a mix of koolada and a hint of spearmint with mild citrus tones. I need to add a flavour to cut the mint down because I hate it but I'm poor and need the eliquid. I tried juicy fruit thinking maybe it would go with the mint but it made it worse. I'm super picky and only vape green apple or dragon fruit strawberry. I love sour things. No creams or anything overly sweet. Anyone have ideas??

Adding flavor alone is probably not going to help. Can you add some PG + VG to dilute the whole mess until it's bearable, when try adding some of a flavor you enjoy?
