It's about time Wizard Labs steps up about leaking customer info... Hasn't this been an ongoing issue for a while?

Two or three months now. They keep saying customer privacy and security is their top priority but it seems if it was, they would have fixed this shit by now.

I actually got a fraudulent charge on my account between reading their security email and posting here on Reddit.

I contacted them about it in April or May and got no response. I guess it takes a few months to come up with a generic email.

I got this tip from someone here at /r/DIY_eJuice. Use privacy.com to create burner credit cards. It is like paypal in that it uses your checking account for the funds.

Them main part.

Please read this email in its entirety.

Wizard Labs is committed to maintaining our customers’ privacy and confidential information. We recently became concerned that an unauthorized person may have accessed our systems in an attempt to acquire confidential information. These systems process customer orders and include such information as names, addresses, payment account numbers, and/or email addresses.

While we have no evidence that any of your personal information was accessed or misused in any manner, we are taking appropriate precautionary measures to ensure your financial security and help alleviate concerns you may have.

What are we doing to address this situation?

We have long employed a wide range of security measures to ensure the confidentiality of everyone’s personal information. Since becoming aware of the attempt, on July 7, 2017, we retained the services of a computer forensics company to investigate potential unauthorized access and advise us on additional precautions we may implement. We believe if any information had been accessed, it would have been during the period of May 25, 2017, through June 26, 2017. Please rest assured that we are taking this matter very seriously and are continuing to actively investigate this incident. We have notified law enforcement and will continue taking steps to prevent such an incident from occurring in the future. We have already implemented new security measures to ensure the confidentiality of the personal information of those we serve and continue providing the level of service you expect from us.

In addition, Wizard Labs is providing you with access to Credit Monitoring* services at no charge. These services provide you with alerts for twelve months from the date of enrollment when changes occur to your credit files. This notification is sent to you the same day that the change or update takes place with the bureau. These services will be provided by CyberScout, a company that specializes in identity theft education and resolution.

It went on with a link, a code and the usual steps you can take to protect yourself.

Live in VA, never got an email, and my card was charged in excess of $380 about 3 weeks ago. I ordered from them around February I believe.

I actually got some attempted fraud on my account within the past week prior to this. Glad to know where it came from at least. Good that it also didn't go through.

Thanks for bringing this up. Checked out your guide. Last thing I want is to become a victim over a $5 bottle of flavoring. I think I'm going to stop at my bank in the near future and open a online only account. Pretty friggen genius. I've seen so many times this seems to happen with these DIY websites.

The shitty thing is like.... this isnt just a wl problem. WL isn't the first vendor to be compromised, and they wont be the last. ~~It's a problem with internet shopping.~~ It's our personal security vulnerabilities (when it comes down to it)

With some of the scams ppl pull, I can see why a vendor wouldnt want to use paypal. This shit (online shopping) can get dicey for vendors and consumers.

In the past: I refrained from giving other vendors my CC info for the same reasons ppl are swearing off WL (at this point I have to adult so no one's getting my cash). However I feel like with the tools available to us, we shouldn't swear off businesses (competition is good for the market). We need to preemptively secure ourselves for online shopping (and all purchases) - so we don't get got again.

Otherwise it's only a matter of time :/

I feel like this is a relevant time to say make sure you only credit cards online and not debit cards. You don't want shitheads stealing directly from your bank account plus every credit card I've ever heard of will take the fraudulent charges off your balance. Debit cards can be a crap shoot.

So is anybody signing up for the credit monitoring that they are offering?

Holy shit! I literally had their site opened up last week while I was in the office, was planning on placing an order, but I got distracted and never ended up placing the order and just closed out. Dodged a bullet I guess.

Got the email, checked my bank account and $150 was taken, may have been a coincidence but still the timing seems suspicious

I order every couple of months. Last order was probably 4 weeks ago. I don't think I ever got an email about my information being at risk.

How do you determine if your information was included in the hack/leak/whatever?

If you've ordered from them at all recently I would say it's compromised. This has been going on for months with them.
