Okay so I've always been a cloud chaser before getting into DIY, and all my gear reflects that. I'm also a pizza delivery guy with two kids and another on the way so I'm on a pretty limited budget. What I have been doing is testing my juices first on my goon with the airflow half closed off because it's my daily driver, then if it seems fairly steeped and I wanna test it further I graduate that juice to my Flawless We Out Here Doh RDA with a single Nichrome micro Clapton build centered in the middle of the RDA (when you have a two post deck and you put a single build in the middle to make it a single coil deck, I know... I'm not good with words). Then if I feel the flavors there I'll wick up my troll RTA and vape it through that for when I'm out and about and it goes in my peerless or goon on top of a mech mod when I'm at home. It's been getting me by but when I hear experienced DIYers like u/enyawreklaw suggesting things like the hadaly and other single coil restricted airflow RDA's I can't help but think I'm missing out on all that great flavor. Does anyone know of any cheap RDA's (squonk would be cool as I'm ordering a frankenskull clone soon) that would take my flavors to the next level for when I'm in a flavor chasing mood?
I'm a big fan of the hadaly!
Edit: my exact setup is authentic hadaly with squonk pin in place on the Franken skull clone. Have tried 3 other decks and none come close to the hadaly.
I think I would be too, the deck is pretty awesome and I've heard nothing but good things about it. The only thing that sucks is the clone don't come with the squonk pin and clones are hit and miss IMO.
I'm thinking of getting the ShenRay Hadaly because it's completely stainless steel and has good reviews. It's gotta be worth $10 and I hope the flavor is really tasty.
I still use an old magma clone, haven't found anything that matches the flavor.
Nearly every flavor atty on the market has a $10 and under clone counterpart. That hadaly sxk is a good atty for flavor testing and they are practically giving them away. Single coil for fast re-wicking and go style flavor testing....The Derringer is another style of atty that a lot of folks enjoy for flavor testing....you should have no problem finding either for around $10.
I've been adding derringers to my cart but never pulling the trigger. It's such a pretty little RDA.
They are a nice little flavor atty. I have to build pretty high like .5 ohms or higher otherwise the vape is just too hot because your mouth is soooo close to the coil. Also the deck is very claustrophobic and kind of wonky 3-poster. But it does produce very good flavor...its not something I would vape on all day but it is pretty accurate if your really wanting to get down on some single flavor testing.
I came here expecting to suggest the Derringer but came away thinking I need a Hadalay but I will say, back in my wee days, a high ohm simple coil in my Derringer was my all day setup for months. But yeah, came back recently with some fatter Claptons and began hating building / vaping it because dat heat tho. The right build though and it's a great little sipper on juice and battery.

Yep, it's made to build with thin kanthal (28 or 26 g, I find) and maybe single coil. And I find the wick goes dry quick. Which is convenient to taste more flavors :)

Grab a handful of these $2 ones. Different colors in drop down. You can fit regular wire fine, wrap cotton around posts. More airflow or larger wires can easily be modded onto it with a 1-1.5mm drill bit. Perfect for testing, either rewick each time or have dedicated colors to different profiles. They're excellent little guys, gave me an excuse to break out the ol' MVP2 haha
