Mango Sticky Rice

Mango Sticky Rice

Ingredient | % ---|--- FA coconut | 1.5 TPA coconut candy | 0.75 FA cream fresh| 1 FLV mango | 3.5 FE sweet rice | 5 CAP super sweet | 0.2

Flavor/Development Notes

  • FE sweet rice is the star of the show here and the main note of the recipe. It fades a little so we use it quite high at 5 percent. This flavor can be both a pain and heaven to work with. It has a little bit of a fading problem. /u/ID10-T calls it FE tortilla after-a-week. To combat this we use it quite high and bolster it with a little fresh cream, while the grittiness of FA coconut helps it keep its wonderful texture.

  • FLV mango was surprisingly the hardest part of this recipe to get right. I used it quite low at first knowing I didn't want a mango vape with subtle accents. I tried TPA dirty mango and cap sweet mango but they ended up not working out here. TPA had an odd off note I couldn't stomp out and Cap Sweet brought the mango into the body of the mix which I didn't want. In the end using FLV mango as high as possible without it taking over the mix was the solution.

  • FA cream fresh Is a shoe-in for just about any tropical cream and the same can be said about this creamy rice mix. Fa coconut and TPA coconut candy blend so well with this cream it's uncanny. The whole combo just further smooths out the vape with the sweet rice, while the mango remains sharp and separate.

  • Cap super sweet believe it or not has its own unique job to do with this vape. FE sweet rice has an almost bitter back end that the super sweet really masks nicely while enhancing the mango.

Overall this was a really easy recipe to create and a real bastard to balance. You will notice as you vape it the first day the rice really pops and on day 3 the mango feels much more in line with the rice as the cream comes out to play. I suggest it at a simple 70/30 ratio and like it as a shake and vape. Give it a mix and see how it changes. I'd also like to thank /u/LonesomeRhodesTN , /u/NotCharlesManson , Kopel, and Thadentman for the wonderful feedback and helping me beta test!

edit: As id10t said, this is not a recipe to throw in the ol' steep cabinet. Great as a shake and vape.

Although as a single flavor FE Sweet Rice fades pretty quickly into generic starchiness of a stale flour tortilla after about a week, I've seen it hang in there longer when creamy stuff is added to it. That neat trick with the FA Coconut probably helps it go even longer, but I wouldn't tempt fate by steeping this for a month or anything like that.

Favorited on ATF to be sure to give this a try the next time I have my FLV Mango out, which of course will be very soon.

You dashed my hopes for a quesadilla vape at the word 'stale'....

Sorry. But at least now I can finally nail down that elusive gas station burrito vape.

I will vape that, but only if you promise it comes with the normal intestinal issues later.

Very similar to the mango sticky rice I was working on. I don't have tpa coconut candy or id mix this up right now! Looks good though, nice work :)

I wonder if coconut candy would taste like those little banana leaf wrapped things they sell on the side of the street in Thailand. If so, that would be an amazing juice.

Can confirm Coconut Candy does NOT taste like children.

On a more serious note, a small % of INW Little Space Drop gives me that taste when mixed with FLV Sweet Coconut.

Looks good! Of course I don't have the rice flavor yet, but I'll get it eventually

Tagging /u/Nicobeak ... just because :)

I'll mix this up tonight, looks great.

I'm working on a coconut lime rice and we've gone the exact same way with the coconut's.

This sounds good. I'm already tacking on the ingredients for the mango version to my current order and have a few lime flavors in my arsenal. I'll report back if I come up with something workable!

Oh yes, that sounds wonderful. What are you using for the lime?

That's been the thing holding me back, partly because lack of Lime flavorings. I'm going to order INW Lime to try in it, as well as FLV Lime wedge.

My girlfriend stole my last couple batches and emptied the bottles before I could actually try them so I fell a bit behind working on it.

So far my favorite has actually been FA's new Key lime.

INW Lime is too candyish for that, man. The Lime Wedge and the FA Key Lime sound great for it.

This was the first profile idea that sprung to my mind when everyone was getting on this rice train. Never picked it up. Looks really nice and based on your notes like you took your time to get what you were after. Did any of the development mixes include FLV's sweet coconut?

Two of them actually had both of the FLV coconuts. This ended up tasting better to me. The candy percentage looks a little intrusive but it's really not when you see how strong the rice flavor is.

Beautiful, no the coconut candy at .75% doesn't scream out intrusive to me. I need to pick up FLV's mango (yes, I have that to look forward to!) and the FE Sweet Rice and will this will be the first thing I mix when I do. Thank you for sharing your skills.

I actually really want to use the flv coconuts in a lemonade coconut cookie. I think they would be wonderful there!

Nice! I can't seem to stand FLV Mango that high, not sure how to describe it. I've had success with a mix of cap sweet mango at around 2-3% and .5-1% FLV mango with this profile.

Also in my most recent iteration I used fa marshmallow at 1% and I'm really liking the results.

Nice recipe homie, I'll definitely give this a mix to see if maybe I've just been using that mango wrong.

I actually consider it among the weakest of FLV flavors. I am tempted to buy a 4 oz of the stuff but I think im going to go on a bit of a mango hiatus after this one.

I've you've never had the actual dish, try it next time you're at a Thai restaurant. It's delicious. My favorite Thai dish and my favorite dessert of any kind. So good.

So excited to try this one. I think I’ve given blue dot about $100 for this flavor in the last year.
