I've mixed a few of the RF SC flavors and noticed my coils get really funky rather quickly. I use them at under 2 % usually. They seem to be really concentrated which would seem to cause less buildup, but it's definitely the opposite.
I recently made an ice cream sandwich recipe with 1.5% of the cookies and cream flavor and it's good but kills my coils. Anyone else have this issue, or am I alone in this?
any chocolate or chocolate like flavors will gunk coils. it should be no surprise that the cookies and cream is doing this. look how black it is in the bottle, lol.
for the most part flavors like their pineapple, strawberry, and sugar cookie gunk coils no faster than any other flavors on the market.
RF SC has some hits but far too many misses imo. I will be phasing out the use of pretty much all of their concentrates.
For the price and overall versatility (or lack of) there are better options out there when it comes to pretty much every flavor they offer.
Cookies and cream is ok to me, if you enjoy it then you will have to deal with the gunk
Yeah, I'd agree. There are a few I'll still use, but most are just 'meh'.
The fruits are pretty good, but don't always blend well, and their bakeries generally taste good but they have no body leaving me just preferring to use something else.
I should have excluded the strawberry lol. The only other friends I've tried from them we're orange, strawberry, and lemon. Oh, and watermelon. They all had a bit of sweetness that I wouldn't expect. The lemon for example tastes more like a lemonhead with the sour sucked off.
That and the gunk had me wondering if there was added sweeteners in their flavors.
Don't get me wrong, I love their white chocolate, strawberry, and the blueberry lemonade slushy. Also at the price point i got most of them they were ok lol. I'd agree though that alot of them lack any real depth, just mostly top note.
Gotta try that white chocolate. Im always looking for a new/better white chocolate. TFAs is like a sweet cream to me. FW is more authentic ish but doesn't stand out in a mix.
I've tried like 9-10 of their flavors so far and the only one with real gunk problems was the cookies and cream, something about chocolate that just ruins coils. I've had luck with FLV milk chocolate not gunking coils but that's because I use 0.5-1% of a 10% dilution lol
I'm sure that the chocolate probably don't help lol. As far as white chocolate it's a very subtle flavor that would probably be indistinguishable in most mixes.
I don't know if it would be strong enough to stand out at normal amounts. In a mix with creams or custard though, it just adds an extra something. It is definitely a real tasting flavor though.
I had some really dramatic gunking with their cherry cola, brown sugar, and sriracha but I noticed some flat, muted flavor from all their bakeries. If you flip the concentrate bottle over does the concentrate pull away clean from the bottle or does it kind of coat it and really slowly drip down? The ones I really had an issue with like to stick to the bottle.
The cookies and cream doesn't stick to the bottom like the ones you mentioned. It is black though; so it's no wonder why it is gunking up his coils.
I have a couple of their sc flavors, more fruit than anything else. I've been vaping a blend of strawberry and watermelon mixed around 4% and I don't have that issue. Been through 120ml and I change my cotton every 2 weeks. Same with the blueberry lemonade slushie.
I think generally the heavier dessert type flavors are not kind to your coils. I just know I will be re-wicking several times throughout the day. It doesn't bother me too much anymore-I swear i could sleep walk a cotton change.
Is that due to sweeteners in the flavors though or just certain volatiles doing it? The only other time I noticed it this bad was with some "premium" juice I got recently. It was so sweet I couldn't taste anything else but that.
That is a good question and honestly I don't know. Sweetener definitely 'causes' this and I suspect their are other compounds in flavors that do as well. Some flavors have 'corn syrup' and that really takes it to another level. There are folks that are much more keen to the actual compounds in some of these flavors so I'm no authority.

It definitely needs more work on it. This is the beta, well probably not even that. I would probably drop the cookies and cream to 1.25 and add a cooling agent. But here ya go

Again this is really rough, I mixed it up after trying the cookies and cream Solo and got more ice cream sandwich cookies. You could probably use cap vanilla custard V1 at 2% instead of the purilum.

Sure, more of an initial thought than a finished recipe though lol. The cookies and cream itself is a very generic ice cream sandwich on it's own. Kinda waxy though. This was e First time using the whipped cream in a recipe though. Not much time to mix lately with a 2 week old and a 16 month old so post yours once you get it perfected lol.
I probably should have clarified that the fruit flavors haven't given me any additional gunking. Also I haven't noticed any issue with the white chocolate. It's definitely there with the heavier dessert types, sponge cake, cookies and cream, and a few others.
Was more wondering if it was my flavor percentage or an inherent problem with the flavors.
I have noticed that RF Oatmeal Cookie SC is also a culprit of this. I have to change cotton about every 30ml with my Black Raspberry Oatmeal Biscuit recipe. Cap Custard v1 probably isn't helping either though.
Biscuit as in cookies or American biscuits? I'm guessing cookies as I've never seen an oatmeal biscuit. Sounds good though.
I never did a single flavor test of cap vc so I'm not sure how bad it is. I generally rewick every week though. Not so much from cotton getting dark, more so I can clean the coils.
