I've just moved away from store bought liquids and as of yesterday i'm all out of them except for my own diy mixes. I was vaping store bought pink lemonade and strawberry flavours before. I have found my diy stuff is very dry compared to the previous brands i was using , it's hard to explain but the back of my throat feels dry after vaping wheras i got that "wet" feeling after vaping store bought juices, anyone ever experienced this? Right now i'm vaping strawberry jam recipe i got online, simply 10% strawberry ripe and 4% strawberry (both tpa)
I'm a total newbie with DIY and had the same issue with just about all of my juices. I certainly won't contradict other's conclusions that you've over-flavored (and I probably did, too), but the solution I found was different.
After a fair amount of searching, one topic that kept popping up was pH. The ingredient we use tend to be alkaline, so your final product needs some acid to neutralize the pH. I added a bit of lemon juice to my lime liquid, and it solved my problem, eliminating the "dry" sensation completely. Not wanting to taint my non-citrus flavors with lemon, I mixed up an acidic liquid of white vinegar and saline solution. That went into my other juices (all of which were mixed with 10% or more flavoring) at .5%-1% and fixed them right up.
Like straight lemon juice or lemon flavoring? And what ratio for the vinegar:saline solution?
Straight lemon juice, .5%.
1:1 white vinegar to saline solution (picking salt dissolved in distilled water).
Sweeteners can help bring some perceived wetness to a vape so I might look in to that, especially as far as what the commercial liquids are going to be emulating. Other than that you've got a few flavors that offer wetness, things like INW Cactus or FLV Lovage among others.
Definitely overflavored. Try half those amounts and see what you get.
5% ripe 2% strawberry
What pg vg ratio are you using ?
Yeah, 14% between those two flavors sounds like sore throat city. Also, if it's a fruit vape: Caaaactussss
Nooooooooooooo. Strawberries benefit much more from TFA dragonfruit. Cactus should be reserved for dark berries that are strong enough to overpower the cactus floral notes, or pears that benefit from floral notes.
Cactus true but with strawberry it might fuck with the flavor too much. Maybe FA pear.
That's a good point. It seems it takes sliiiightly higher percentage of cactus for me to go from mouth feel/wettness to tasting it.
Some of the niches we fall into with our perception of flavors are a blessing and a curse sometimes. I just went through a rough patch of not being able to perceive anything from bakeries. And, this is coming from a guy who's only recently discovered an all fruit ADV.
70/30
Try the mix with the % I recommend a see if the result is the same. Also, there is a new mixers thread stickied at the top of the subreddit. You may want to consider moving this post over there and post any further questions you have in that thread.
70/30 is a good ratio to stay at.
I had pretty much the same issue. Like other have said lowering the percentages should help. Just because it's fruits doesn't mean it won't need to steep a short period of time before the full flavor comes out.
As the issue here seems to be a popular subject and the answer to the problem seems to be Dragonfruit. Is there a particular brand of Dragonfruit that is better than others for boosting Strawberry? I also use Cactus for boosting darker berries and I find that INW Cactus works extremely well but I've always had trouble enhancing my Strawberry blends of INW Shisha Strawberry and FA Red Touch without imparting a flavour I don't much care for such as Dragonfruit.
I'm not much of a fruit person myself, but I typically pair strawberry flavors with tfa dragonfruit. Cactus also works well but in extremely low percentages for my taste. It can easily overwhelm other flavors for me.
Hands down the best juice on the market. I have been looking for months for a juice that has a great but not super sweet taste. This is only strawberry daiquiri ejuice. Once you try it you will not vape anything else. Super happy customer!!! my search is end at https://coastalcloudsco.com/product/strawberry-daiquiri/ :) :) :) .
