RF SC Sriracha
submitted over 8 years ago by ConcreteRiveraka IceT'sHamSandwich

Setup: Recoil w/ flavor barrel, Dual 15 wrap 26g 3mm Nifethal 70 coils @.15 ohms. 60w power, 450F temp limit. Full Cotton Wicks.

Testing: RF SC Sriracha @ 2%, 60/40 VG/PG, Steeped 22 days.

Flavor Description: Pretty spot on to sriracha actually. Pretty solid heat to this, At 2%, I'd say it's maybe just a bit less spicy than actual sriracha, but you've got the added bonus of having it all through your lungs and sinuses. Garlic heavy, but handled in about the best way it could be. There's a honey sweetness and a savory almost oyster sauce kind of body that gives the garlic some body. More roasted garlic than straight raw garlic. No overwhelming acidic vinegar type of taste, but still enough acid brightness to really set the entire thing off. Until it burns, it's actually a pretty rocking savory hot sauce vape.

And if you really want an excuse not to vape a lot of this beyond the obvious, it does burn quite a bit. It's got that same sticky, viscous body as RF SC Cherry Cola Type and RF SC Brown Sugar. It's also got a deep red-orange color to it that manages to stain anything that it comes into contact with.

Off-flavors: Strangely enough, none, until it burns. Starts off with a very good thicker non-vinegar based hot sauce with a whole lot of garlic, some sweetness, and a savory body. But then you can taste whatever is making this sticky burning off the coils. Adds to the je ne sais quoi of the concentrate, but is probably a bad thing in general.

Throat Hit: 14/10.

Uses & Pairings: Screwing with people. Drunken dares. Punishment, especially for vaping related sins. General idiocy.

Notes: I don't really want to test this for concentration, and vaping it at 2% destroys my ability to taste any nuance here. I will say, it's still noticeably spicy at .25%. If it didn't have that burning problem, I'd recommend it in small amounts to the elusive savory bloody mary vape. At 2%, you're definitely at full novelty vape status. You aren't going to fit much else in there around that overwhelming spice and savory garlic. At 4%, it's definitely spicy, and the garlic is even more prominent. At somewhere around 8-10% it didn't seem noticeably spicier than 4%, but I wouldn't really trust my ability to taste anything after trying this at 4%.

Second Opinions:

Lol, no.

Here's the product page from Real Flavors. Their take: "This exotic, spicy chili pepper sauce (which includes distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt) originated in Thailand…and today, it’s setting mouths aflame everywhere. Are you brave enough to try our savory Sriracha? We dare you."

A big hearty "Screw You" to /u/ID10-T/ for the suggestion.

I did my intial test of this (along with RF SC Carrot, and RF SC Tomato) as part of an almost unbearably awkward youtube video located here. I go over the weird viscosity issue, and after regrettably vaping this again I'm definitely noticing some issues with burning.

14/10 throat hit might better be described as a throat punch.

What is that thing? It looks like it crawled out of a David Lynch film.

Watched that video yesterday, or whenever he posted the Tomato review. It's hilarious.

You should get something for all this self inflicted abuse man did you lose a huge bet with someone?!?!?!HAHAHHA! Off topic, I just picked up FA's pleasure cola with hopes for it to play a role in a cherry coke slushy recipe...can I expect another "burner"?? I am hopeful that it might not being that FA is pretty "vape-centric" in their formulations?!?!?

Self inflicted for sure. I put up an opportunity for flavor review requests and only made the stipulation no meat or seafood. Id10-t decided to stretch that by suggesting the last couple I tried. I still bought the damn things, so that's on me. FA cola is great. I've never had any kind of issues with it. I'm pretty sure the problems with RF SC cola are real flavors problems and not cola in general problems.

I know you don't use siracha for a Bloody Mary, but do you see any potential to make one with this and the tomato concentrate you reviewed the other day? I know you said it wasn't much of a tomato juice, but I wonder if that weird fishy/Worstershire kind of off flavor you mentioned in the tomato might fit into that kind of profile

Yeah, and that would actually be a really smart use for the concentrates. I think all that roasted garlic flavor is what makes the savoryness of the sriracha work, and it should let you take advantage of the non-terrible parts of that tomato flavor. But, even if that would be someone's thing, I'd still be a bit concerned with the burning thing the sriracha is doing. Should taste okay though.

Oh, you even mentioned it in your post in the notes section, must have skimmed over that. Sorry!

Holy crap dude, I step away for like a few weeks and you're vaping gotam Sriracha now! When I left off I think it was Lime Wedge or something. You are reaching Neil Armstrong levels of vape exploration here sir.

No one wants to be stunt vaping guy, but damn if it isn't entertaining to watch someone else do it. I could watch people try FA Crab all day.

Oh, god. I didn't even know that was a flavor. A little dough and some cream cheese and you have a crab rangoon!
