What's your "Frank's Red Hot" for your recipes?
submitted over 8 years ago by RamboUnchained

Context

For me, it's CAP Vanilla Custard v1. I was checking my inventory in my calculator to make sure everything matched what I had on hand, and noticed that I was using it in 34 recipes. 34! That's nearly a 3rd of all of my creations. It's hard not to use it. It just fits so well in so many different recipes. It's also stellar when used in a 3/4:1 ratio with TFA's Vanillin 10% PG.

Nicotine.

You won't believe this, but it turns out I put VG in ALL of my recipes!

All [bad] jokes aside, TFA Bav Cream for most of my creams, little bit of juicy lemon in most of my fruits.

It is really good for fruit mixes. Have you heard about our lord and savior FA Vienna Cream? I use that any time I want creamy feel without creamy taste if that makes any sense.

by JQWebcoover 8 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

I know exactly what you mean haha, Vienna Cream is great for the mouth feel. I often pair it with Vanilla Swirl when I want mouth feel, and just a little bit of cream taste but nothing over powering!

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

I have VS and Vienna Cream in a bottle in a 3:1 ratio. I call it Vienna Swirl. It's surprisingly good by itself.

Does the juicy lemon make the fruits more tart/pop without imparting a flavor really? Im looking for sumthing that does this..

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

It works great for that, but also adds a bit of creaminess which may or may not be desired. If you just want the fruits to pop without added creaminess, a few drops of FA Lemon Sicily or TFA Dragonfruit are what you're looking for.

2nd the dragonfruit. I pair it at like 1% with strawberry mixes. It just sits in the background holding a sign of encouragement that says "Go Get Em Strawberry!!"

Inw cactus is in a lot of mine, so is it tpa Bavarian cream. Very versatile and good tasting flavors. Cactus goes great with most fruits.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

I really like cactus in a lot of stuff too. Makes everything wet.

2 points

by FACE_MEATover 8 years ago

If only actual cactus tasted like Inawera Cactus.

I've never had cactus juice so I wouldn't know.

I believe it's actually replicating the prickly pear..otherwise known as a cactus pear.. 🤔

Were you guys frequent users of INW Biscuit before JF made their version.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

Cap Sugar Cookie was a distant second. I have it in 19 recipes. I have basically every vanilla besides DIYFS and INW Shisha Vanilla. JF Biscuit is also pretty good too. I like it more than INW Biscuit in recipes that have a long curing time.

Damn those are probably the two best vanillas out!

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

That's what I keep hearing but I've been satisfied with the results from subbing things like French Vanilla Deluxe, Vanilla Bourbon, and Vanillin. I'm going to get them eventually, though.

FLV Cream in almost all the things.

So much this that someone did the math for me to figure out how much of the stuff I'd need to make a gallon of 1% FLV Cream, 99% VG for me and I was tempted to actually do it, until I realized that I usually mix 70/30 and that would dilute the FLV Cream too much. More math is needed.

37.85 mls FLV Cream

1097.65 mls PG

2649.5 mls VG

I haven't used it yet. I use FLV sweet cream a lot though. I'd use it a lot more if FLV flavorings weren't so damn expensive.

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I'm not bothered by the expense of putting 1% FLV Cream in everything. Plowing through buckets of FLV Mango at 3 to 4% is starting to break the bank, though.

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

Lmao. Just get a 500mL boston round and you can dump all 13mL of Mango in whatever you're mixing if it's at 3% By the time you're done with that, you should be able to scrape up enough pennies for another bottle of FLV Mango lol

CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl

TFA Dragonfruit

It just gives fruits that extra oomph, can stand in when you need a nebulous extra fruitiness, and the triacetin helps blend everything nicely.

If have to say the same. Definitely CAP Vanilla Custard v1. For fruits, TFA Strawberry Ripe by far.

AP

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

I'm gonna say you probably like graham cracker clear, too.

3 points

by Clickpissover 8 years ago

Haha yes, that is true. I also use INW Biscuit a lot, but wouldn't say it's my Frank's Red Hot like AP is. That stuff seems to make most of my creamy/bakery/biscuity recipes just amazing.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

And I love the fact that it literally only takes a few drops to transform a recipe. I just made 3 240mL batches of stuff that have AP in them and I still have nearly half a 10mL bottle left.

by ARflipgurlover 8 years ago

What is AP?

acetyl pyrazine, it adds a grainy texture to your mixes.

There's very few juices that I don't put Dirty Neutral Base in.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

I read T-Mace's review on it when I first got into DIY. It sounds like a great tobacco concentrate but I'm on a heavy RY4 binge right now.

1 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 8 years agoresident tobacco specialist

I'm not sure how it would work in an RY4, but challenge accepted!

Oooooo please post the recipe when you come up with! Are you on ATF? If so, what's your name so I can follow you.

Have you tried JF ry4 double ? Twice the strength of TFA and muchhh tastier imo

menthol. i finally said fuck it and bought crystals. i have enough menthol crystals to make like a liter of menthol concentrate.

3 points

by Lulzorrover 8 years ago

if you get sick and can't breathe through your nose I have a pretty good use of those crystals for you.

boil a cup of water, drop in .5g of crushed menthol crystals.. Inhale through your nose as best you can. That shit will turn your kitchen into a biological hazard and probably also cause your eyes to burn/water... but you'll be able to breathe.

2 points

by Boondocover 8 years ago

i'll remember this. and also remember to do it in my garage.

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

Damn. I JUST got some FW menthol in my last shipment on Wednesday. I haven't made anything with it yet, though.

1 points

by Boondocover 8 years ago

i don't know if i got a bum batch or what but when i tried FW menthol it seemed weaker than tfa's even though looking at the sds it's supposed to be 2x the amount of menthol than tfa uses. but yeah, i go through a lot of menthol.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

It's my first venture with a true menthol flavor. I'm sure I'll try others soon.

1 points

by Kincadianover 8 years ago

I think this might be true. I have FW Menthol and have been using 1.5% and thinking I might go up higher but other people seem to think over 1% is crazy

Probably CAP Coconut.

You a beverage guy? I know I like a little coconut in all of my cocktail type vapes.

2 points

i don't do tons of beverages, but there's not a tobacco or bakery that couldn't benefit from a touch of cap coconut, imho

Flv cream for mixing and fw butter pecan for my coffee. Fa pear may be my sriracha.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 8 years ago

I've yet to try a concentrate in any food or drinks yet. How much butter pecan do you typically add to a cup of coffee?

2 points

by shyndoover 8 years ago

till it tastes good :P that's the best way to do it. In cooking the same way you would use salt.

1 points

by throwawayeg3over 8 years ago

I do the same with TFA Caramel and FA Marzipan. A few drops here and there in my coffee. I have a bunch of Viet and Korean tea that I want to start experimenting with.

TFA Strawberry Ripe. Have used more than any other flavour concentrate.
