Lots of variety and lots of great mixers! A great way to support the DIY community.

I would rather see more one shots. This way I don't have to buy all the flavors for a recipe I might not like and end up with a lot of flavors I might not use. With one shots I can at least try the recipe, and if I end up liking it, I can then buy all the flavors. I haven't seen this done in the U.S. yet other than Wayne's or a few others.
What if you purchase the one shot and hate it? You just wasted ~$10. This solves that issue in a way because if you mix up the recipe with the ingredients in the pack and you decide you don't like that recipe, you can still use the individual flavors for other things.
I actually did not see it that way. Your point is most definitely vaild. It seems there are pros and cons for both. It would still be nice for someone to offer more one shots. Like chefs out in the U.K.
I really wanted god milk on there because it's 5 staple TFA flavors that hapen to make up a solid recipe. Flavor packs are both more and less convenient than one shots, depending where a mixer is in their progression.
Adore E-Liquid has one shots as well as a few other mixers on ecx as well. They are starting to catch on in the states.
I agree. I prefer the one shots because its a much smaller, cheaper investment. Its also a lot faster and easier to mix than using a bunch of different flavorings. I see the appeal of buying the flavors individual like this for sure, but personally I find it to be overwhelming to manage and time consuming to mix.
This makes me wish I knew someone like me, back when I started DIY, who went buck-wild buying too many flavors, and kitted me up with a bunch of curated mixes from this subreddit that I could fall in love with, so I could just buy those flavors!
I feel like I would be at least 250 flavors lighter, and I'd have a nice weekend allowance for massage boys and blow. Oh well!
I look forward to the unholy alliance of BCF's/r/DIY_eJuice's "one shots". Surely that's in the works. Right /u/bcfinventoryguy ?
We here at Bull City Flavors are happy to be able to work with the community and introduce the recipe packs. There is so much talent in the community and we are looking forward to supporting the mixers both but giving them an avenue to showcase their talent as well as make a little money from any potential sales of the recipe packs.
I know some people are expressing more interest in one shots, as others have already stated the reason we did it this way is so you have the flexibility to tweak a recipe in any way you see fit. Along with this you will be able to use the flavors for any mix you decide to do and are not stuck with just the one shot.
We are looking to expand this section on our website and offer even more recipe packs in the future so if you have not done so already send an e-mail to sales@bullcityflavors.com for more information on how to submit your recipe for consideration.
I have an idea how you guys could expand further on that marketing concept.
Provide a printed booklet containing multiple recipes with each kit, centered on the one complex one, but demonstrating other recipes that can also be made with the same set of flavours. (Have it a as separate free item with a purchase of * flavours in the online store so the user can still mix/match sizes/flavours)
The secondary recipes don't have to be super complex or exceptional, just good enough to be smoked on their own while giving the user a base to encourage further experimentation. Suggest additional optional flavours to build those recipes to help guide users whilst providing a mechanism for repeat business.
Throw in a short tutorial, suggested equipment, some tips and best practices, along with plenty of blank pages for notes and recipes (and blank areas with the provided recipes so the user can expand on those too) and it could be a very good product for helping to make diy attractive to wider audiences.
Also offer some of the equipment on those recipe shopping lists too for lazy people.
Is there a way to unselect flavors? There's a couple recipes where I already have a bulk of 2-3 flavors in it and have no need to purchase more of it.
Unfortunately there is no way to only select a few items. There are several reasons behind this. It is mainly due to being able to comply with the policies set in place by some manufacturers MAP pricing and to make sure the creator gets credit, and payment, for the purchases of their recipes.
I love the idea. I see recipes that I have wanted to try but haven't purchased the flavors, and it lets me omit flavors that I already have, but stock up on ones that I've run out of
This got me to place an order with you after nearly a year of not placing one, and I didn't even know about 10% off shenanigans. The short version: it was just the convenience of it all that pushed me through to checkout.
I wonder how many of the lurkers are in this sub and appreciate this feature for the laziness factor like I just did lol.
I ended up spending 5 minutes putting an order in for 3 packs. That was an awesome experience! You guys should definitely chase this marketing ploy to it's fullest.
That said, it wouldn't let me add the recipe to my cart without checking every single item, so stuff I had on hand already I had to duplicate (but was running out anyhow so I was ok with it). This may be a mobile ordering thing though, or perhaps I missed something others were talking about, but I definitely couldn't leave flavors out if I wanted to use this feature. This is so minor to me though, and I considered it the cost for convenience.
Really wish it was a real pack, its just giving you the recipe to place your order. But it's great for the guys that make a little money on the side....
As we found when we did this a while back, the ratios on a lot of the different ingredients don't really scale well into a pre-made pack. You always end up with too much of some of the flavors and too little of others.
They give you the option to either buy 10mL of a flavor or 30mL. So if there's an ingredient used at a higher percentage, you can get the 30mL and vice versa for the lower percentage flavors
Yup, and no combination of those is going to keep you from running out of some flavors before others when making the recipe. That's why the way they have it (giving you the recipe and letting you order) is better(generally) than the pre-made pack or kit he was asking for.
What do you mean by "real pack"? It's exactly that, a real pack. A pack of the the flavors required to mix that particular recipe.
I just mean one click purchase. It would make it easier. Don't even have to be like the DIY or DIE which comes in one bottle flavor shots. Just selecting the flavorings you need for a recipe I guess makes it slightly easier but truly IMHO not a pack ... say when I select bust a nut....I have to select the 5 flavoring sizes .... it should be a bundled pack...I want bust a nut... all flavorings included, don't need to select the sizes of each one... from the looks of it, they are just taking the easiest route, Which in turn I guess I can't blame them.
It IS a bundled pack. You get the option of 10mL or 30mL for each flavoring so that if there is a flavor that uses a higher percentage, you can select the larger size. Vice versa for the lower percentage flavor. Also, say you want a certain recipe pack and you realize that you are running low on a flavor in your current collection that the recipe pack includes...you can order a larger size of that certain flavor to restock your supply as well as support that mixer.
They're taking the most sensible route and not to mention, the flavors are discounted in the packs by like 10% (except Capella).
This is such a great idea. Love trying new recipies and being able to use the knowledge gained about how flavors interact and make more. This beats one shots for people who want to experiment and expand, which I feel is an important aspect for a DIY community to nurture.
yup this is a great idea. They need to implement and add all option for 10 and 30 ml so you don't have to go in and check everything, but only uncheck the ones you don't want, but yeah it is great.
easy ingredient buying plus a quantifiable way to attribute flavor sales to individual recipes and remunerate mixers accordingly.
Really excited for the one shots, very convenient and useful for newer mixers. In addition it allows for using the one shots as flavor concentrates themselves.
Anyone can buy individual ingredients any time and ~~waste~~ spend their time adjusting individual flavors one at time on a recipe to suit their precise needs. That's for the birds!
Let me get dose one shots!
EDIT: Also I think it needs to be said that I think Wayne (/u/Enyawreklaw) needs to get some credit in pioneering the concept. He may not have been the first of all time, but he's the first and only one I can think of to start the concept of selling recipe one shots.
I think one shots have such great potential in vaping. I was definitely not the first, but I will say that I've been trying as hard as I can to get more DIYer's involved in them. Back when I started DOD I wanted to take the focus off the MIXES, and put them on the MIXERS and today we can see that's happening much more now. So many great artists with a vibrant community, such a great time to get into mixing
