Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of June 02, 2017
submitted over 8 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Peanut butter marshmallow... This is an adv for me

  • 2% TPA marshmallow

  • 1.5% TPA peanut butter

  • 0.5% FW graham cracker

  • 1% TPA vanilla custard

I use TPA graham cracker clear and FLV vanilla custard but this shouldn't be far off

I like it right away but it just gets better with time. For me it doesn't last longer than a week lol

I'm not good at doing flavor notes and whatnot but I thought I'd just thought I'd post some feedback on this.

It actually makes me think more along the lines of a Gingerbread type flavor, it was nice, but there wasn't any real sort of "wow" to it and the texture was quite dry.

It definitely had a tad more throat hit than I was used to, although I like as little as possible.

Perhaps it's nicer with your original flavor brands, which I may try next time I order some stuff.

I mixed up 200ml of it and send half to my Brother in Law who prefers dry/biscuit type flavors whereas I prefer sweeter flavors. He'll probably enjoy it much more than I did, after all, taste is highly subjective.

Not to say it was bad at all, it just wasn't something I'd generally go for.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the honest feedback, what did you have to sub out?

Thank you for taking the time to mix it and I hope your bro in law enjoys it lol

Hi there folks,

I am quite new to the DIY and I've actually made my own juices only 2-3 times so far and more than half my "experiments" have been a success but I also had some awful tasting juices that I am vaping on now since I haven't made anything recently (I have been using the left out juices for rainy days.) This is why now, the time for new mixing has come and I want to expand the horizon and mix more than 2 flavors and that is the time when I need you guys. Therefore, as good people of our community, please help me come up with new recipes. I will be forever thankful. I have some ideas with PB/Strawberry/Bavarian Cream as well as Apple Pie v2/PB/ Vanilla Swirl. I love PB so I am trying to figure out how to put it in everything. I need to come up with ideas for the Caramel Candy/Red Velvet Cake/Oatmeal Cookie/Captain Cereal/Marshmallow since they are my most unused flavors. Here is the list of all the flavors I have:

TPA/TFA:

Cheesecake Graham Crust

Red Velvet Cake

Bavarian Cream

Strawberry Ripe

Fudge Brownie

Vanilla Swirl

Caramel Candy

Marshmallow

Captain Cereal

Oatmeal Cookie

Sweet Cream

Boysenberry (all the juices made with this had a terrible taste IMHO, but maybe it is too concentrated and I put too much)

Capella:

Peanut Butter (haven't tried it but I am a huge fan of PB & Chocolate/PBJ type of juices)

Sweet Strawberry

Apple Pie V2

Peaches and Cream V2

Molinberry:

Indulge: gold caramel, custard vanilla, and juicy Raspberry finished with incredibly sweet cocoa ( I recommend this flavor. Turned out to be really tasteful)

OMG!: soft vanilla cupcake topped with cocoa milk cream finished with a hint of chocolate shake( Tried it and was really nice but could not really taste the cocoa almost at all. However, I again, could have put too little or too much)

These are all the flavors I have. Any recipes and/or ideas for recipes would serve me a great favor and to everyone who puts an effort to help me - thank you in advance.

Have a great day everyone and "vape your way to heaven boys n girls!"

Wow! This is a hard one boys and girls! I'm interested to see what someone can make of OP's flavors. I wish I could be of service to you, but looking through your flavors, I can't for the life of me think of any recipe I would vape using only those flavors. Not to say your flavors are bad, it's just that you are missing some really big staples. Take a look at the top 100 flavors on ATF. If you just get the top 20 you will be mixing up a lot of recipes and craft some of your own.

All TFA

Strawberry Ripe 3
Bavarian Cream 5
Vanilla Swirl 2

You'll need to play around with the percentages a little but it should be pretty tasty.

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I would add 2% of your CAP Sweet Strawberry to the recipe that Bevlar suggested. /u/hyperlite310 is right, this is a tough one.

What percentage are you using the TFA Boysenberry? I've never tried that flavor but I've found a couple of similar TFA berries (Black and Huckle berries) to be ridiculously strong and terrible at higher % but very good flavors at less than 1%.

If I could recommend two new flavors to you, they would be TFA Dragonfruit and TFA Peanut Butter. If I could add two more, they would be TFA Strawberry and TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. That's because I could give you an amazing recipe if you had Dragonfruit, two more amazing recipes if you had Strawberry too, and VBIC is versatile as hell if you aren't one of the people who think it tastes like pepper. Also I think CAP Peanut Butter is terrible, just burnt and yucky no matter what, and TFA Peanut Butter is true peanut butter flavor. It's dry but you can fix that with other ingredients like your marshmallow and cheesecake graham crust.

Red Velvet Cake tastes great if you use it correctly. 2% Red Velvet Cake + 4% FLV Cupcake Batter is a scrumptious two-ingredient banger after you give it a two-week steep. I'm not going to suggest you buy that because I don't know if it's easy to get where you are or what other uses you might have for it, but try some other things with 2% RVC, in small batches because they're just experiments, after steeping for two weeks. RVC needs time!

Try one of these: 2% RVC + 4% Bavarian Cream, 2% RVC + 4% Vanilla Swirl, 2% RVC + 1.5% Sweet Cream + 1.5% Marshmallow, or 2% RVC + 3% Strawberry Ripe + 1.5% CAP Sweet Strawberry.

Hey New DiY'er, I'm one, too! I did make a pleasant Boysenberry recipe. It's always been one of my favorite flavors since going to Knott's Berry Farm as a kid. This recipe is creamy and soft, not too sweet, a bit floral, but not overpowering. I'm working on it to make it a bit more juicy, more like a boysenberry drink.
You could switch out my vanilla with the one you have and instead of meringue, add some more custard or marshmallow, I guess. Even at 1.5% the Boysenberry is pretty strong in this.

Boysenberry Custard

  • Bavarian Cream 3%
  • Vanilla Custard 3%
  • Meringue 2%
  • Boysenberry 1.5%
  • Pear 1%
  • Marshmallow 0.5%

You can make a bastardized strap-on:

2% FA Fuji

3% CAP sweet strawberry

0.5% TFA watermelon

This will be much more candy-like than a regular strap-on, but should be tasty.

Thanks very much mate! Look forward to trying it. Shake and vape or steep for a week or two? In your opinion what other staple flavours should I look at?

3 points

by PerennialPhilosopherover 8 years ago

You could shake and vape this. IMO it's better to order flavors for specific recipes than just to buy flavors that sound good. You can always read some Flavor reviews to get ideas.

If you enjoy that then look into:

FA strawberry (red touch)

FA watermelon (red summer)

FA Dark Bean at 1%

FA Vanilla Tahity 1.5%

Cap Vanilla Custard 4%

I mix this with FA's Bourbon Vanilla, but should be close. I steep it for a month, Dark Bean is a little rough before that.

so I bought a bunch of tobaccos, read what ELR and reddit say about them, the pairings and so on. but I simply don't know where to start. I have no experience with tobaccos. If someone could give me a hint for some combinations to start with ... I have the following tobaccos in my arsenal:

FA black fire

FA virginia

FA desert ship

FA dark vapure

FA perique black

FA 7 leaves (<-- is there a difference to 7leaves ultimate? elr lists both)

FA soho

FA shade

FA glory

FLV cured tobacco

FLV red burley

TFA ry4 double

TFA turkish

TFA western

INW garuda

I also have AP and MTS vape wizard and a shitload of other flavors like creams, bakeries and so on. I'm looking for a straight tobacco vape, not a dessert. -tia

by T_Maceover 8 years agoresident tobacco specialist

First stop is to do single flavor tests of all these.

Quick recipe (I just made this up but it should give you a starting point):

  • Red Burley 2%
  • Western 3%
  • Garuda 1%

/u/raketenwurm

3 points

by raketenwurmover 8 years ago

allright, I will do the single testing. hadn't had the time yet, saw the thread and thought I'd ask.

thanks for the answers

4 points

by ece_guyover 8 years ago

As you said yourself, if you're looking for a straight tobacco, you should single flavor most of these first IMO. For example, try a single flavor of FA Virginia @ 2-3%. It's a very grassy and dry taste, and I find it occasionally very enjoyable. I don't think I would consider mixing it with something else.

The RY4 double also makes an excellent single flavor, but also extremely versatile that it can be used in many, many recipes. Start with 5% but I've seen people mix it up to 10%.

For the rest as well, look up some recommended percentages and make some single flavors. More complex recipes will come later.

Saw a recipe on here using 8% Soho, 4% TFA Western. I added 1% FLV Cured and it's not too bad!

by raketenwurmover 8 years ago

thanks, I'll give it a try ... mad some bad experiences already with other tobaccos. damn they can get nasty if you don't know how to use them. but these seem to be alright so far. so I'll happily mix it up

Does your shitload of other flavors include FW Salted Caramel or some other caramel? What about INW Shisha Vanilla or some other vanilla?

2 points

by raketenwurmover 8 years ago

unfortunately not salted caramel, I do have FA caramel

for the vanillas, I have INW shisha vanilla, DFS holy vanilla, CAP french vanilla, TFA vanilla swirl and some custards

I read that a lot tobacco mixes use vanillas, what makes sense since a lot of cigars leave a kind of vanilla taste on your lips if i recall correct. oh man, I just wanna try it now that I have these tobaccos, but I'm damn sick and haven't vaped for more than a week now ...

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. When you get better, try 1.5% FLV Cured Tobacco, 1.25% FLV Red Burley, 1% Shisha Vanilla, 0.5% Black Fire, and 0.5% FA Caramel. Shake and Vape Cigar.

TFA (the flavor apprentice) and TPA (the perfumer's apprentice) are the same thing.

Try D Cream!

New DIY'er here. I've made some okay juices, a couple of pretty horrific ones, and one that was pretty much perfect (except I didn't write down the recipe.) I have a fondness for sweet fruity cool juices. I have the creams, but they aren't my go-to juices. I could use some recommendations on other fruits to get, but I don't care for Strawberry or Watermelon. My favorite juices I've had have been 2Ohm6's True North and TopSail. I also used to really enjoy Volcano's Pearadise mixed with Menthol Burst. Any suggestions I'd be happy to receive. Thanks!

I'm making this right now. I mean, how can I not make something recommended by the Winner of the World Mixing Championship! Thank you! I needed a new idea, I'm kinda stuck in a rut. How much Pear and Apricot were you using?

by XDark_MavisXover 8 years ago

I started small and just got a few flavours I thought would work well together and offer some cool possibilities. I got:

  • FA Cola
  • FA Vanilla classic
  • FA Marzipan
  • FA Black cherry

I got nic in a VG base, and I only got VG cus I wanted to try some max VG mixes. My efforts so far are a bit bland, though I've only steeped for a few days

1 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Have your efforts looked something like 4% Cola, 1% Black Cherry, 0.75% Marzipan, 0.75% Vanilla Classic?

I liked FA Marzipan all by itself at 3%. Have you tried that?

2 points

by XDark_MavisXover 8 years ago

I haven't mixed all of them. I've tried 3% cola and 1% vanilla. And the same with Cherry instead of vanilla. (which turns out to not be black cherry after all). I think I'll make 10ml of each flavour by itself at 3 - 4%. Though these aren't too bad. At least I already know what cola or marzipan are supposed to taste like. Some other brands use utter nonsense as the names of their flavours it seems

Obviously try Mustard Milk and God Milk

Also try D Cream

Try Fuji all by itself at 3%.

The Him Catself but you don't have CAP Juicy Pineapple. Try substituting your CAP Juicy Peach for it.

Also: Death By Strawberry.

Those are all shake and vape-able recipes that will improve with a steep. Here's one you definitely want to put away for a couple of weeks before trying it: 6% CAP Vanilla Custard, 3% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, 2% TFA Bavarian Cream, 2% Cheesecake Graham Crust, 1% TFA Sweet Cream.
