RF SC Strawberry
submitted over 8 years ago by HashSlingingSlashur

Setup: Derringer RDA clone, SS Clapton 26g/36g 6wrap/3mm id, 30-40 watts

Testing: RF SC Strawberry 2%, 30% PG, 1.5mg nic (steeped 1 day, 3 days, 2 weeks)

Flavor Description: Jesus H Christ. This is absolutely my favorite single strawberry vape. This is a fresh, ripe, sweet strawberry. All the boxes are ticked. Tastes like a strasberry, which if you’ve never had one please go find one. What you’d imagine a wild strawberry on the top of a mountain to taste like. Just buy it.

Off-flavors: nothing at this %

Throat Hit: nothing at all

Uses & Pairings: some pairings ripped some from the Flavor Bible: almonds, apricots, bananas, berries, biscuit, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberry, brandy, buttermilk, caramel, cardamom, champagne, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cream cheese, fresh cream, custard, elderflower syrup, ginger, grapefruit, grapes, guava, hazelnuts, honey, lemon, lime, mangoes, maple, nutmeg, melon, passionfruit, papaya, orange, peaches, mint, pies, pecans, pineapples, pistachios, plums, pomegranates, raspberries, rhubarb, rum, sugar, vanilla, walnuts, yogurt

Notes:

I like this right around 1.5-2.5%, not a noteworthy change for me from 1-14 days

I’ve had trouble mixing this with heavier creams they kind of flatten it out, I’d avoid that but maybe you can use Shisha strawberry or JF sweet strawberry to help this out against some heavier stuff like I see in these recipes.

I haven’t tried in many bakery applications but I don’t doubt it would be great there too.

I’ve paired this with strawberry ripe very successfully but not with FA strawberry, it’s just too dry. It really doesn’t need much help but ripe strawberry keeps it juicy without taking anything away. (2% of each is wonderful)

Works well with fruit mixes. Here's one or two

I’ve really enjoyed this solo, I even mixed up a 30ml of this solo at 2% and vaped through it all.

Strawberry non-tasters report being able to taste this one.

This is a very good and pretty simple mix focused around this ingredient by a strawberry non-taster

Second Opinions:

Plenty of notes on ELR mainly praise as a realistic and delicious flavor. Great reviews on ECX even one by me, Vince

RF site link and blurb: Arguably the most beautiful of all berries, strawberry is a standout classic with countless uses (you know what they are). Natural, rich, ripe and sweet…our Strawberry flavor presents the juicy, familiar taste you’d expect from hand-picked strawberries on the farm. Enjoy. great reviews on RF site as well.

Enjoy indeed my friends!

Just got a 10ml of this and tried it solo today at 2.5%. Already wishing I'd bought a 30ml.

It's absolutely delightful, about two weeks ago real flavors was giving 30mls away for free I'm sorry you missed out.

At 7$ for a 30ml for a rather potent flavor, it's still a decent deal. Pair that with the fact that it's soo good and it becomes a great deal lol.

They are still doing the giveaway since they didn't run out during memorial day!

I just tried the 5% I mixed up. It's good, a bit too strong at this percentage. I'm getting strawberry hard candy, the ones in the red foil wrapper that looks like a strawberry. There's also an occasional strawberry bubble yum flavor every couple puffs. I'll be mixing up another tester at the recommended 2-3%. Preferably after everyone else goes to bed so I don't screw up the measurements again.

Thanks for recommending this one hash.

What pg/vg ratio are you mixing it at? With 30% pg the 2% was plenty good. hope you get it to an enjoyable level!

I'm mixing at 70/30 too. I meant to mix a 30ml tester, decided to half it and mix a 15 of the cookies and cream too. Split the base but forgot to half the flavoring. I can tell it's good, just need to use the correct amount lol.

So, are you going to cover a bunch of the RF SC line? I'm dying to see if anyone else can use the souffle.

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

I didn't grab the souffle. I have reviewed their baklava, blueberry and pineapple. The pineapple is great, blueberry is good and the baklava is good but needs to steep (it's quite heavy on the rose water aspect).

I have the free samples they gave away this weekend arriving. If no one reviews those I may take a stab at it, those include: cinnamon roll, taffy base and watermelon. I also grabbed the bread pudding which seems to be a hit.

Not sure what else I'm going to try from them before seeing some more reviews. I like their cookies and cream but alas my coils turned brown after a couple tanks so I'm probably never going to use it.

I mixed a 2oz bottle at 2% max vg and it came out excellent straight away. Steeped a week and the "fresh picked" flavor is a bit muted, but it's still quite nice. I might try 3% next time to draw out more of the candy note and preserve the freshness a bit longer. I'm sure pg goes a ways towards keeping those notes in the mix longer. Definitely my favorite strawberry!

I like their Strawberry Milkshake a lot , will need to try this. I haven't figured out their Strawberry Cream yet but it smells great.

I got this when RF was doing their giveaway 2 months ago. I instantly loved it as soon as I opened up the bottle. I made a recipe that is a pretty big hit with my friends.

1.5% RF SC strawberry

.5% FA Kiwi

Its pretty simple but I think its delicious

It's replaced ripe in all of my mixes!

This stuff is perfection.

It plays nice with cap sweet straw, tpa straw and ripe. I agree that it can get lost in heavier creams though. Haven't tried it with much else yet.

Anything over 3% is overkill for my tastes.

Yep I'd keep this right around the manufacturer suggested range of 1-2.5%

Hey. My recipe got a shout out on ATF (Vibe's Milk, previously Nova Milk). Thanks man.

This hands down in my top three of favorite flavorings. It's so damn good.

Was going to try this with FA Strawberry until I saw your review. I'll follow your advice and pair it with strawberry ripe . What % of ripe do you recommend to go with 2.5% of the RF ?

2 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

2% ripe should be perfect

In my recipies i use 2% Jf Sweet strawberry and .8% RF SC Strawberry to get a good lasting strawberry. I prefer a lower % on the rf sc in mixes since to me it adds a strange note. Working down from 2.5% i found this with the jf to be spot on.

I will try this combo. Any recipes using this ratio that you'd care to share ?

My go to a a french vanilla custard I've been making for going on 6 months now. A few people at work love it and its kept a few people vaping.

FA vanilla bourbon - 1% INW custard - 2% Cap french vanilla - 2% FA oak wood - .5% TFA sweet cream - 2% Cap VCV1 - 4%

That's my base and i use 2% JF sweet strawberry and .8 RF SC strawberry to make it strawberry custard or i use 2% TFA blueberry extra and .7% RF SC blueberry to make it a blueberry custard. Too high a % of the RF SC fruits tastes like if someone forced a tootsie pop up your nose.

Disclaimer: i have never had legit custard, just going off the flavors i have in the mix.

Damn another good strawberry concentrate......looks like RF has come on strong with this SC line. Even Jarvis liked this strawberry so it must be good ...hahahhaa. Thanks for the review.

They have many good flavorings but probably just as many that may leave you scratching your head. This and the sugar cookie are definitely hits in my book

Definitely need to get this. Thanks for the review.

And Strasberry? Sounds like the Tigon / Liger of fruits. Need to get my hands on one of these also.

They taste like a more tart strawberry than anything resembling a raspberry. So yummy though, some are quite sour but still enjoyable

Im mad at myself now for not getting the free 30ml samples bundle after reading this. My thoughts were "well I have a few strawberry flavorings already" 🙄

This one may not the be easiest to work with but standalone it's the most nuanced and absolutely my favorite in that regard

Just remembered I had this in my collection so I made a strawberry 3% and marshmallow to 1.5% @ 3mg 21/29 pg/vg.

:) Hopefully it will be ok:) (total mix noob)

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Which brand of marshmallow are you using? Sounds good anyway

by stoccolmaover 8 years ago

Tpa :)

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Let me know how it goes. I think a flat 1% for marshmallow would work too, it's a pretty powerful flavor/enhancer in my experience.

I am a strawberry mute and I can NOT taste this one either. INW Shisha strawberry is the only one that works for me. I have JF but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

1 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Sorry to hear that. Strawberry muteness saddens me, if it weren't for strawberry stuff I may have never been able to quit smoking

2 points

by Code_Xanaover 8 years agoPâtissier

I hear you there. I was able to quit with strawberry cheesecake vapes. When I started DIY, my go to mix was always TFA Strawberry and Strawberry Ripe together. That's probably what killed my tastebuds.

Is this the same as RF strawberry or is the SC Strawberry different?

1 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Well I'm gonna assume RF strawberry is the VG version while the SC is a super concentrate. The SC can be used between 0.5-3.5% with nice results. Their VG line needs to be used between 8-15% for the same effects.

by Urano_Metriaabout 8 years agoMentholatier

BCF just picked up Real Flavors. The title/description makes no mention of super concentrates, but the product image does. Safe to order?

1 points

by HashSlingingSlashurabout 8 years ago

Ya they mentioned it in their email it's the super concentrate. I think real flavors is moving away from their VG line.
