OK new mixers, this is your thread to ask any questions you want of the DIY eJuice community. All posts are allowed, but we still encourage you to use the sidebar and search features before asking any questions.
- Placing your first DIY order and want to make sure you have all you need?
- Not sure about how to mix your first bottle?
- Want to get started but aren't sure how?
- Any other questions? ... then this is the thread for you. FWIW, the answers to the first three questions will eventually be found in the wiki (still in development); link at the top of the page.
Ask away!
I mixed a couple bottles of different recipes. i also tried to make some recipes up. i'm both positively surprised and underwhelmed. I have made unicorn's milk and mustard milk. Unicorn's milk lost most of its flavor over time and isn't really that strong in flavor to begin with. mustard milk is quite good, but quite harsh as well somehow. I mixed a single flavour recipe with cinnamon danish which is really good.
After these first attempts i made another two recipes. peach and cream and a simple sugar cookie. i'm so utterly amazed at how good the simple sugar cookie is.. both in simplicity of the recipe and the full taste it gives. i'm really looking for those recipes with a thick creamy taste like milk and honey by cosmic fog for example.
All this leads up to a simple question: what (relatively) simple recipes can i try next in the cream/dessert/cookie department that are known for being legit.
Even popular recipes have conflicting opinions and the amount of recipes is overwhelming.
You might try posting your Flavors in the suggest a recipe thread, or using the what can I make with my flavors search on ATF. Just out of curiosity how long did you steep the mustard milk?
Good suggestion :) I think i steeped the mustard milk at least two to three weeks.
God Milk, Cuprian, cliche, cereally easy loops or crunchies. I'd recommend some more recipes that aren't mine, but I don't really have a need for any more simple recipes :/
Got a link to the simple sugar cookie recipe? I'm waiting on my first batches of Unicorns Milk & Mustard Milk to steep. On day five now. Looks like I'm one step behind you :)
Simple Sugar Cookie is one of my favorite recipes as well. I always have a bottle of it around. Once you post your flavor lost, we can help more. But I want to suggest Batter Up by u/NotCharlesManson. Just FYI, I think I have the same taste as you in juice, and Batter Up is honestly the most impressive yet simple recipe that I continue to make. I have more recommendations, jus need to see your list.
I will order the flavors for batter up in my next order. These are my flavors right now. I posted these in the recommendation thread today as well.
- CAP sugar cookie v2
- TPA sweet cream
- FA Raspberry
- TPA Smooth
- FW Sweet cream
- FW White chocolate
- TPA vanilla custard
- FA Maple syrup
- FA Walnut
- TPA Butterscotch

- CAP vanilla whipped cream
- FW Kahlua cream

Thank you for the recommendation. i will make my list of available flavors and post it in the next week's thread probably. I have a lot, and i guess a lot won't be really relevant. Still, i have quite some flavours that i think are used in a lot of recipes.
i will definetely look up batter up
edit: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/7005 it's this one right?
Hi folks, I've got a recipe that needs some help so I can hate vape the rest of it. It's really dry and I need to modify it to add some wetness.
I think the dryness is coming from the SC Grape. It has that "dry tang powder" throat hit that I also get from CAP Sweet Tangerine and FA Watermelon.
Any ideas of the best way to fix this? Increase dragonfruit? Add marshmallow?
| Flavor | Percent | | -------- | ------------ | | INW Grape | 2.5 | | SC Grape | 1 | | SC Blackberry | 0.25 | | CAP Dragonfruit | 0.25 | | TPA Vanilla Swirl | 2 |
Thanks!
What is SC? Do you mean RF?
Drop CAP dragonfruit and use TFA instead. Lower INW Grape slightly, and I'm guessing SC Blackberry is where the dryness is coming in. /u/vurve introduced me to FW blackberry, and it's pretty much everything I've needed in a blackberry flavor.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've added 1.5% TFA Dragonfuit and will give it a day or two to do its thing then try it out again. Is CAP Dragonfruit missing the triacetin (???) or whatever that TFA has?
FW Blackberry is going on the shopping list. Love me some FW Blueberry so I'll probably love their Blackberry as well.
What is "fluffy"'as a taste descriptor supposed to mean?
"bullshit."
It's supposed to be a mouthfeel, but really it's just a word we've learned to use to make you want to try out recipe as compared to someone else's.
Hello r/DIY_eJuice! I've got a recipe that I need some help with, and I don't know exactly where to post, so if this isn't front page material, please let me know and I will delete it. My wife is a part time vaper (mostly just at nights before we go to bed), and she absolutely loves the Red Bull Lime Edition. She is very particular about which flavors she will use because she has no sense of smell, therefore her sense of taste is pretty severely impaired when it comes to tasting e juice flavors. One day a couple weeks ago, she was drinking a lime Red Bull and said "You know, if you could make a juice that tastes like this drink, I think I would really like it." Having only been mixing a couple months, I thought this would be a great challenge. The problem is, I have no idea how to make it! I've bought a few lime flavors (TFA Key Lime, FA Florida Key Lime, and FA Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed), but I can't really figure out how to replicate the fizzyness of an energy drink. From what I've read, TFA Champagne and similar flavors won't really give me the effect I'm after, and beyond nailing down the lime taste, I'm not really sure if there are any nuances I should be looking out for. Really all I get from the drink is pretty straightforward lime. So, I guess what I'm asking is does anyone here have any experience with this drink? Any advice on doing carbonation? Would a cola flavor do the trick, or are those type flavors really meant for "dark" drinks? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!
TL;DR - Need help mixing up a lime energy drink.
A cola flavor is not going to help you. FA Lime Distilled might but I'm not entirely sure, not having tried that drink. You probably want to create something stellar and present it to her completely finished, but if it were me, I'd probably make up a bunch of single-flavor limes for her to try and let her tell you which one tastes more like Red Bull Lime Edition to her.
I'd say you want LA Lemonade as the base for this, it has an almost carbonated feel to it, more so than anything else I've tried. It's also a fantastic flavour.
FW Keylime has quickly become my favourite lime flavour, it reminds me of lime cordial, which would probably work well with this, and it's not too sharp tasting so should sit well with the lemonade.
I'd probably go with - 4% LA Lemonade 3% FW Keylime
There are red bull flavors out there. One of those with some LA Lemonade and like 0.25-0.5% INW lime and you should get pretty close
Hey buddy, I think I can help you with this. Get yourself some FA Aurora. It is a lime-centered flavor with a carbonated aspect, and I think it would be perfect for this. It is also basically delicious by itself--- if she likes Lime Red Bull, she'd probably enjoy vaping standalone FA Aurora at 2.5-3.0% in the meantime while you are crafting the rest of the recipe =) It really stands up to other flavors very nicely, I would recommend starting at 2.0% with it, but you will actually probably want to use more as you adjust the lime flavor to her taste.
Edit- here is ConcreteRiver's review on this flavor -- I really think it's a perfect match for you. I also just used it to make a badass Lime Coke a few days ago, which is shake-and-vape deliciousness. If you're going to order a Cola flavor, definitely go with FA USA Pleasure (Cola)
Wow, reading the review, this may be exactly what I'm looking for! And pretty much a stand alone flavor at that. Maybe a mix of Aurora and the "Red Bowl" flavor could be fairly close, thank you!
Hey u/lolwtf, I just got my order of Aurora in, and just from the smell, it's almost spot on the same aroma that comes off Red Bull Lime. I mixed up a 10ml of 2.5% FA Aurora and 9% FW Red Bowl (that seems like an extremely high percentage for the Red Bowl flavor, but that seems to be what people are mixing it at so, we'll see). I plan to let it steep a few days but if the smell is any indicator, that may peg the flavor. Thank you for suggesting Aurora, I would have had no idea to use it without your recommendation. Thanks a ton!
Awesome. You know, that combination of flavors doesn't really need to steep, it should be a s&v mix. So I would probably try that mix and see what it's like. The flavors will continue to infuse with the base liquids, and it will be more full-flavored, but what I'm saying is those flavors don't need time to bloom/develop fully, like creams do. I suspect you're gonna want a ratio with less Red Bowl, but I haven't used that flavor before. I have had the green Red Bull's, though, and they are heavy on the citrus. So if that mix doesn't taste right, maybe go with Aurora 3.0%, Red Bowl 5.0%, try it and then add drops of whichever flavoring it needs. By starting low, you always have room to add more flavoring drops, just keep writing down a tally of how many drops you've added, or else you won't know how to recreate it (been there, done that). BTW, for the full blown soft drink effect this is a situation where I'd probably add sweetener (sucralose). TPA Sweetener 1.0% (3 drops/10ml) or CAP Super Sweet 0.5% (1-2 drops per 10ml (sweetener is heavier than normal flavorings)).
With all that said, I have no doubt the mix you made will be tasty, and thanks for taking the time to let me know it was a match!
If you want to use Aurora in a different way, I have found it amazing with Watermelon. Any watermelon would work, but if you have FA Red Summer (Watermelon), try them both at 2.5% together. If you have TPA Honeysuckle, it goes in that mix really well too --- I think I did 3.5% of it.
Wanted to start looking at making my own vape juice looked at few recipes for a blackcurrant and menthol flavour and the setup / kit I would need to make it. Found this setup on makemyvape.co.uk and wondered what people who were already making their own thought of it. Is it a good deal or would you recommend something else.
PG 500ml
VG 500ml
10ml Black Currant - TFA x 1
10ml Raspberry - TFCC x 1
10ml Cola - FW x 1
10ml Extreme Ice - FW x 1
10ml Sweetener - TFA x 1
10ml Vimto - P&B x 1
Accessory Kit Large
18mg Nicotine in PG 10ml x 20
£49.98
The accessory kit includes
1 x 1ml syringe
1 x 2ml syringe
1 x 5ml syringe
1 x 10ml syringe
3 x 3ml pippettes
5 x 10ml PET bottles with child safety/tamper proof caps
1 x 50ml plastic bottle
1 x 100ml plastic bottle
10 x adhesive labels
3 x pair of mixing gloves
I'd say ditch the accessories and just buy a scale that measures down to 0.01g. and a few bottles in 10ml and 30ml. If the flavors are bottled with dropper caps then you won't need syringes. And you can get pipettes/gloves for cheap if you need them.
It's usually cheaper to buy things separately than to buy the kits, but not always. Do a little shopping around if you are trying to save money.
Edit: this could be helpful
It looks like you're buying from makemyvape. I bought my first kit from there too!! I'll echo what the other poster said. Buy these things separately. The flavours do come with droppers but you won't need syringes etc if you have a scale. Trust me, washing syringes and waiting for them to dry properly is a pain. Go with an electronic scale. The scale they have on "offer" there is exactly like the one I bought from Amazon for the same price. Also, check this out: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01N2KKEPI/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The tiny funnels are AWESOME for putting pg and vg in the bottles. There might be greater deals elsewhere, this is just the one I found. As far as the flavours are concerned- think before you buy. Check ELR and alltheflavours and look at top recipes there (a lot of feedback, comments etc). Find a flavour profile you know you like and buy the flavours for the recipe. For example I know I love nanner bear and nana cream so I bought the flavours for these recipes so I made something I KNOW I'll like. Once you have things you like around, you can start expanding and experimenting a bit. For flavours look at chefsflavour. They have a bigger selection than makemyvape. So, all in all, I hope this helps. I was in your shoes around three weeks ago as I decided to get into diy just before tpd hit so I bought a fuckton of nicotine, but I can be very obsessive once interested in something. I hope this helps.
TFA Berry Cereal TFA Blueberry (Wild) TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust) TFA Dragonfruit TFA Strawberry (Ripe) tfa bavarian cream TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Was wanting to try the TFAs first, but I also have: CAP vanilla custard, FA fresh cream, CAP sweet strawberry, FA nonna cake, FA meringue, FA forest fruit
Would really appreciate some help with suggestions and percentages to use! Thanks!
What are some of the better honeydew flavorings? Also, anyone recommend any summer time must have flavoring?
Also does anyone recommend a good gummy worm juice or gummy worm flavoring? If you have tried crawlie tuesday or space worms that is what I am looking to achieve.
JF Honeydew Melon or TFA Honeydew.
LA Lemonade, RF SC Blueberry Lemonade Slushie, LA Watermelon for some summer flavors
Is blueberry lemonade slushee good by itself or do u recommend a recipe? It sounds good by itself if its true to the name!
TFA Honeydew is IMO the best
Try CAP Lemon Sicily or CAP Juicy Lemon ( I personally prefer this lemon), and either FA Strawberry or TFA Blueberry Extra for Strawberry/Blueberry lemonades, great summer flavors!
How's Philippine mango
I last tried it back in early 2016, so they may have improved it as I've heard varying opinions from others since. From my opinion though it's not a strong mango, it's more something to add in with other fruits as an accent flavor. It's a good light tropical taste though, just a little weak for my personal preference
Are there any sampler packs for flavours I can buy? Like pay x dollars and get a bunch of mini sample bottles?
Wizard labs has flavor packs.
5 flavors for like 5-7$
Ecigexpress has some, but you won't really save any money buying them that way.
GremlinDIY sells 5ml bottles of almost all their offerings if you want to get the most variety for spending the least.
Only ones I've seen are TFAs website 4ml sample packs but going by their top 12 pack it's going to be the same price buying the individual 10mls flavors from bullcity ($1.29 for 10ml @bullcity, $1.29 for 4ml TFAs website)

About how much Koolada is needed to add that cold throat hit?
Hey, i'm having alot of trouble finding a good watermelon concentrate. I've tried TFA Watermelon and CAP Double Watermelon and they barely taste of watermelon, I just want a nice strong watermelon flavour, anyone have a good recommendation?
What % are you using them at?
i've gone as high as 20% in a Max VG bleng
That's waaaay to much.
-
TPA watermelon works well between 3-8% and CAP double Watermelon I'd keep around 2-5%.
-
Try using some PG to help carry the flavor and helps a lot with wicking. I mix 30% PG including flavors. My mixes mostly fall between 3-10% flavoring total.
-
20% of most flavors is going to be muted or disgusting or both (somehow)
-
Single flavor tests for most flavors/brands should be done around 3-5%.
I'm finding Capella's drip tips are a pain in the butt when mixing larger bottles/more grams. Is there some way I could bore out the hole to make it flow smoother, or is it easier to just replace the tip with something else?
Ok so I posted this I think five days ago just mixed it up I'm calling it Curb's Sunshine it consists of
Strawberry ripe TPA 3% Strawberry TPA 2% Peach TPA 6% Honeysuckle TPA 3%
That being said the ratio aren't the best I think the strawberry ripe was a little to over powering as on the first inhale I got some honeysuckle a little peach and then immediately strawberry so I'm thinking the ratio should be
Strawberry TPA 2% Peach TPA 6% Honeysuckle TPA 3%
Maybe a little koolada even but I need help with the ratio I'd really appreciate it I'm going mix up a new batch later this evening and edit my post any help would be fantastic :)
You just mixed it up? I like to steep at least a week maybe 2 weeks before changing anything. That being said, I personally would make a second batch, cutting the peach and honeysuckle in half, then after a couple of weeks compare them both.
Ok :) what about the strawberry ? I'm trying to keep the peach and honeysuckle dominant
Hey DIYers!
I've mixed together some recipes. Now, what's the best way to test flavours?
What do you use?
Single flavor testing?
You do it the same way you would with a normal mix but with just one flavor and normally without nicotine. A lot of people don't like to waste the nicotine but I personally always mix with nicotine.
Most people use an RDA to test new flavors as it's easy to re-wick and flavor is usually at the peak. I use my Troll RTA as I no longer enjoy vaping from a RDA and the flavor is usually better for me. Just use your preferred tank/RDA that makes it easiest for you.
You can make separate mixes all at different percentages to see the characteristics of the flavor and take notes on them.
I posted kind of late to the suggest a recipe thread so I think it's getting a little less attention but I would appreciate if anyone could suggest me a recipe:)
I just made a really frekin good strawberry lemonade flavor that, to me, tastes like the strawberry lemonade you get at lucilles in the big mason jars
What is Lucilles?
Hi, I have a recipe I want to make that calls for 2% Cap sweet cream in it, I don't have it though. I was wondering if you guys could suggest a substitute with any or a mix of the other creams I have FA cream fresh TFA Bavarian crream TFA Cheesecake (grahm crust) TFA Vanilla Swirl
Or if it may be better to just leave it out, the recipe is 2% CAP butter cream 4% FW butter pecan 5% CAP Vanilla Custard V1 2% Cap Sweet Cream
So I've heard of pepper tasters, but I'm wondering if there are other similar things out there? Because I've noticed that I really don't like some recipes that seem very popular, and it seems to come down to certain flavors being contained within them, even in small concentrations. One of these is TPA Pear. I've noticed I actually feel nauseous after vaping it. TPA Pineapple and INW Cactus seem to produce similar effects.
Absolutely. We can react differently to the chemicals, we may get different impressions from them or may not be able to sense some of them at all. This means that some will not be able to taste for example a strawberry that only uses certain components, while they can taste other brands that use different ones. It means that some will pick up off-flavors that most don't, or get a completely different impression of them. On top of this, we may not like certain flavors, or may not like to vape them. Unfortunately, there is only one way to find out.
I run into a whole bunch of problems like the ones you describe if I use too much flavoring though. TFA Pineapple above 1% makes any juice taste like vomit to me, regardless of the recipe, but below that it's a marvellous flavor that can really spice up a mix. One drop of INW Cactus can absolutely destroy a mix, while really juicing up others, this one is highly situational for me. TFA Pear though, I'm not a big fan of in general, but again, used in small quantities could probably bring something unique to the table. Although I much prefer FA Pear.
Ive thrown up from vaping TFA pear. I was pretty drunk already though. However I feel like if i had not hit tfa pear i would have not thrown up that night. Although if I wasnt drunk I prolly wouldnt have thrown up that night either...
What's the effect on e-liquid when it's kept away from the sun in a backpack but it very hot weather, like 90-95 F? Lets says a couple hours each day. Do you think this degrades the quality?
You may lose some of the finer, sharper notes from fruits and berries faster than normal. You may find the nicotine slightly harsher day by day. But the temperatures you're talking about are just above room temperature, so while you may notice some change over time, it should be pretty negligible.
Stupid question. OK, so maybe not stupid but...
How often should I calibrate my scale?
I've got the AWS LB-501 that I use for mixing. I don't have a dedicated space in which to mix, so all of my mixing gear gets stored in a couple of totes. I pack my scale away in the original box when it's not in use and the totes don't really go anywhere. Should I be calibrating every time I pull it out of the box and set it up?
Aside from the initial calibration, I've done it one other time. And that was because I had a weird feeling it was off. I can't say for certain whether it actually was, but it only takes a minute anyways. Once you know how much of something you add, you just know. You definitely do not need to calibrate every time you use it.
I'll be honest, I've never calibrated mine and I've had it for years. Although I probably should (and would if I had the weights), it still reads accurate enough for my needs. For me, it's not that important.
The real answer is probably to do it as often as you can be bothered, at least once a year, but all scales are different. Some may need it constantly, some never. I'd refer to the manual.
Manual? Isn't that a type of transmission? ;)
I calibrated it when I first got it(It actually came with weights, or else I'd have been SOL) I can't remember where I hid the instructions from myself-I'll look in the box and do a little RTFM. Thanks for the answer!
Do you have the weights it came with? try them on the scale, if it reads off then maybe need a calibration otherwise i dont think u ever need one. can also use a nickel i believe its supposed to weigh 5g exactly
Yes, I still have the calibration weights. I've decided that the next time I mix, I'll allow a few minutes for testing the calibration of the scale. I might do it for the next couple of mixing sessions, just to see if it goes out of kilter, and if so, just how much it goes out.
Hi there folks,
I am quite new to the DIY and I've actually made my own juices only 2-3 times so far and more than half my "experiments" have been a success but I also had some awful tasting juices that I am vaping on now since I haven't made anything recently (I have been using the left out juices for rainy days.) This is why now, the time for new mixing has come and I want to expand the horizon and mix more than 2 flavors and that is the time when I need you guys. Therefore, as good people of our community, please help me come up with new recipes. I will be forever thankful. I have some ideas with PB/Strawberry/Bavarian Cream as well as Apple Pie v2/PB/ Vanilla Swirl. I love PB so I am trying to figure out how to put it in everything. I need to come up with ideas for the Caramel Candy/Red Velvet Cake/Oatmeal Cookie/Captain Cereal/Marshmallow since they are my most unused flavors. Here is the list of all the flavors I have:
TPA/TFA:
Cheesecake Graham Crust
Red Velvet Cake
Bavarian Cream
Strawberry Ripe
Fudge Brownie
Vanilla Swirl
Caramel Candy
Marshmallow
Captain Cereal
Oatmeal Cookie
Sweet Cream
Boysenberry (all the juices made with this had a terrible taste IMHO, but maybe it is too concentrated and I put too much)
Capella:
Peanut Butter (haven't tried it but I am a huge fan of PB & Chocolate/PBJ type of juices)
Sweet Strawberry
Apple Pie V2
Peaches and Cream V2
Molinberry:
Indulge: gold caramel, custard vanilla, and juicy Raspberry finished with incredibly sweet cocoa ( I recommend this flavor. Turned out to be really tasteful)
OMG!: soft vanilla cupcake topped with cocoa milk cream finished with a hint of chocolate shake( Tried it and was really nice but could not really taste the cocoa almost at all. However, I again, could have put too little or too much)
These are all the flavors I have. Any recipes and/or ideas for recipes would serve me a great favor and to everyone who puts an effort to help me - thank you in advance.
Have a great day everyone and "vape your way to heaven boys n girls!"
Use these threads for questions like this from now on.
I'd have a go at a peanut butter cheesecake using the following...
CAP Peanut butter 4%
TFA Cheesecake Graham crust 2%
CAP sweet cream 1%
TFA Bavarian cream 2%
I'd maybe go crazy and add 2% of the fudge brownie to create a peanut butter fudge brownie cheesecake
Thanks! I tried it without the brownie and I am wondering how much should I let it steep. In my opinion, it wouldn't need more than a week. Although it would also be decent as a shake&vape.
Are there any coffee flavors that arent black af?
Ive tried:
- FA tiramisu
- TFA coffee
- both INW tobacco/coffee combo flavors,
all of the above dark af.
ive got TFA carm.cap. and FA Up on the way. Im really not tryna collect em all like some fucked up pokemon.
edit2 /u/vurve how bad is tfa coffee clear? what percentage did you use it at? did you ever try inw mocha?
Most companies use actual coffee extract in the flavoring so that is definitely going to make the black. I have yet to see one that wasn't black.
Hmm i guess tfa coffee clear is discontinued. I never got around to trying it so i guess I'll pick some up while I can.
I did a lil more* digging and found this comment in reference to TFA espresso. Still in production so I guess Ima order those up in a bit
>You're welcome :D Normal coffee. It will gunk up your coils. It's very dark. The espresso one is a clear end juice though unless you add something with color...
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/2z364h/tfa_coffee_flavors/cpg4d09/
Im so sick of that black, coffee furanone flavorant.
CAP Cappuccino isn't that dark, more like a light brown. Not the best coffee flavor, but I kinda like it, even stand-alone. Check some reviews.
nice ty, ill check it out.
swooped up tfa coffee clear finally and tfa espresso sooo ill check back with that one day...
Just ordered tpa Mocha it is pretty clear...

Hello, what toffee, caramel, nugat and grape flavor and his brand you can recommend?
I made a 10ml batch to test a cheesecake flavor, could I just add in a little whipped cream flavor to see how it changes the consistency?
I would say you'd be better off just making another batch considering how small of an amount you made.
It depends on the percentage you're adding though. I've added 1% and less of a flavor to a finished mix without it being detrimental in recreating it.
Hello, what toffee, caramel, nugat and grape flavor and his brand you can recommend?
Medicine Flower makes by far the best caramel I've tried. Unfortunately they're really expensive.
How much ml for 100ml base?
FA Caramel is great. Pretty much the only caramel flavor I use.
FW has a butter toffee that some seem to like. FLV Toffee is also gotten good feedback. I don't see many people use toffee so take these as a grain of salt.
INW has Nugat flavoring. I've never had it. FA Torrone is also a nougat flavor. Everyone loves it but it tastes like pine cones to me.
INW Grapes is awesome if you want a fresh grape flavor. TFA Grape Juice is a artificial grape flavor. Really depends on what kind of grape you're looking for.
I have been mixing by volume for a couple of years, ive recently started on mixing by weight.
Are there any specialist bottles that can be used for dispensing the pg/vg and nicotine beside using syringes?
Huge noob and possibly dumb question :
I've stopped smoking for 5 days now but had juice from before (I started vaping a year ago) and the throat hit is really important to help me with the craving.
Thing is in those 5 days of not smoking I finished all my 6mg/high PG juices and all I have left is some 3 mg Snake Oil at 80VG/20PG. I'm not getting any throat it from it, but I've read that adding ethanol to your juices helps with the throat hit.
Could I add a very small dose of Ouzo (very similar taste) to a bit of my Snake Oil to get more of a throat hit ?
Not sure if it's the right place to ask this since not really DIY but hope you guys can answer
No, it's bound to contain organic material, sugars and what not, you don't want to vape that. If you have unflavored vodka, a little bit of that might help, but it won't get you near high PG and double nic.
What sweetener are you guys using? Capella or FA? Capella seems to have other additives other than sucralose?
CAP Super Sweet (20% sucralose) contains preservatives, which isn't great. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with TFA Sweetener (5% sucralose, 5% ethyl maltol).
I don't use sweeteners myself, I find most juices are on the verge of being too sweet as they are. VG is sweet on its own and a lot of flavorings already contain sweeteners. But if I want that little bit extra, I reach for meringue or marshmallow for creamy mixes, and marzipan or FA Pear for fruity ones.
Any tips and tricks for speed steeping juice trying to make a clone?
I'm trying to clone one juice. Recommended steeping time for this juice is 3-7 days. I used TFA Kentucky Bourbon at 1.5% there. As shake and vape and after 1 day steeping bourbon is still strong for me. In case if Kiwi Bourbon at bourbon at 2% is not so noticeable as what i have now. Should steeping make KB not so agressive?
Or is there any way to try different flavour percentages without waiting ~1 week for final result?
Unfortunately, time is the best/only way to truly know what your flavors will do. Heating your liquid might help in the short term but ends up degrading your nic and muting your juice.
it's sad and it's a hard challenge for my patience :( how many time is needed for keeping juice in a hot water to achieve 3-7 days steeping? can it give result similar to steeping? i don't really worry about long term results. i just need some average estimation of what i'll achieve with steeping. something to try 10-15 ml of juice, compare to original juice, throw away what i have now, tweak something, try again, etc...
If you don't have confidence in what you're doing or the outcome, you can taste it right away. If it's bad, it's not going to improve. If it's good but not quite there, give it a few days. What steeping will do is bring out flavors, blend and shape them, and do away with certain off flavors and sharpness. It will not magically turn a bad mix into a good one.
The best way to counter impatience is to keep yourself busy with other mixes. If you always have some stuff steeping and recipes to mix, you'll rather find yourself pressed for time than waiting for that one specific juice to finish steeping. And always make sure you have something else to vape, so you don't rely on your experiments for it.
I just ordered about 12x 30mL flavors from Real Flavors. Do the bottles have dropper tops or do I need to order some pipettes too?
RF has sent me bottles with dropper tops, but before and after those they did not. You could send them an email and ask to be sure.
They've been sending those hard plastic bottles with twist caps if they don't come with the dropper bottles, but the bottles are too stiff to squeeze. So you have to shake it up and down like some barbaric neanderthal to get the flavoring to drop out.
Your personal best bavarian cream, caramel and strawberry flavor?:)
TFA Bavarian Cream and FA Caramel
Strawberry is subjective and situational, there are a plethora of them out there. Some struggle to taste artificial strawberry concentrates, so there's that. My personal favorites are TFA Strawberry Ripe, FA Strawberry (Red Touch) and CAP Sweet Strawberry.
Your personal best brand of sweet mint, sweet menthol and bavarian cream and apple pie?
INW Mix Mint is pretty good, TFA for Bavarian Cream
FA or possibly TFA for Apple Pie. Pick up TFA Pie Crust too if you want to lean more on the crust. Neither has a very prominent apple, so you could boost that with FA Fuji or pick some other fruit or berry for a different kind of pie. Options are nice.
Greetings all! I'm going to put through my 1st order tmrw from https://infinite-vaper.myshopify.com/ . As per some of the suggestions I've heard for starting out mixing that I should pick two recipes and master making them before branching out attempting my own creations. I've picked out these two that have positive ratings and comments.

Planning to mix 30ml 3mg or 1.5mg bottles. My Order is as follows; VG 1000ml PG 500ml Nicotine 60ml/100mg in 100% PG Sweetner (TPA) Raspberry Sweet (TPA) Peach Juicy (TPA) Strawberry Ripe (TPA) Fuji Apple (FA) Koolada (TPA) and for my own creation down the line I've picked out a few flavors that I think will pair well for something I'd enjoy vaping. Blackberry (FW) Mojito (TPA) Cucumber Mint (FW) Champange (TPA) Any thoughts? things I should consider or change? Thoughts on the recipes or vendor? I considered changing the Koolada over to Polar Blast.
Don't buy flavours you think they're good if you're just starting out. Find specific recipes that you want to follow and buy the flavours for these recipes. When you order again next month or whatever do the same for different recipes. Before you know it you'll have both good recipes in bottles and flavours to experiment with combining them. Buying the champagne for example (unless you plan it to vape it solo) is going to be nothing if the recipe you will follow also needs lemonade or cake or whatever.
Best your personal brand of cinnamon, sweet apple and pie crust for cake recipes?
cinnamon - flv rich cinnamon
caramel - flv or fa
pie crust - tfa
apple - fa fuji or inw two apple/double apple.
>fa apple is just plain and lightly flavored same with Rf. tfa apple is jolly rancher or more candy like. inw anton apple is like sour green apple candy. er inw shisha apple is somewhere in between real and candy... idk not my fav on the list. not my least fav. go w/ fuji or inw two apples
if you are making a pie recipe check out fa liquid amber as well
i forgot to link you that recipe in last comment. its fixed meow
I'm looking for a vanilla bean ice cream flavoring I have tfa VBIC and it's great, can anyone point me towards another that is also great like capella which I have not tried yet.
FW version was really disappointing to me, like most of their flavors. It's not very dense or creamy at all. It's got just a light vanilla flavor. I've never tried caps version but the review posted here said it tastes exactly what a cap cream normally tastes like, so by that I know I wouldn't like it. Hangsen ice cream is good. You only need .25%-.50% though and it's better used as an enhancer to other I've cream flavors.
TFA is still the king imo. I haven't found a replacement yet.
PLEASE HELP... Noob question about TPA and TFA-Wizard Labs.
Ok. I've read several posts on TPA and TFA and I'm still confused. Are the flavors from The Perfumers Apprentice able to be vaped? It appears that Wizard labs has TFA flavors. And are cheaper that can be bought from the manufacturer (TPA) I'm assuming. Someone please help?
TPA and TFA are the same company. Same flavors and yes you can vape them.
I did notice on Wizard Labs site that you can get 30ML for just a little more $'s than The Perfumers Apprentice charges for 15ML. But the juice is the same company and same flavoring right? I started out with a LB starter kit and found their flavor combos kind of limited. LB starter kit was good to get my feet wet though I think.
Is there a rule of thumb for flavoring percentages when using a flavor for the first time? I usually just do 10% but my juice never seems as strong as id like and from what i understand, adding more doesnt necessarily mean stronger flavor.
I find 3-5% is a good place to start for the PG flavorings, and between 1 and 3.5% for the super concentrated stuff, depending on reviews and smell. 10% is a lot of a single flavor for sub-ohm. This information is probably not for you if you MTL. I THINK you double the numbers for that but I'm not 100% on that.
I usually start with around 4 or 5% for CAP and TFA and 2% for FA or INW.
But first I look here...because some flavors can't be used so high. FA Honey for example...a maximum of 0.5% is advisable.
10% seems ridiculously high to me. I never used that much of anything.
It varies greatly. Some people use a general rule % for a certain brand, like 2% for FA and 5% for TFA, but even that is a pretty bad idea, IMO. For example, TFA Blackberry 5% is horrible but 0.75% is a nice blackberry flavor. You need to look around at how other people are using the flavor. Read reviews if you can find one here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/wiki/index/flavor_reviews
Search for the flavor on alltheflavors.com or, less reliably, on ELR. Look at average use percent, look at recipes using them. Search for the flavor here and look for recipes. When in doubt, ask here in the weekly new mixer's thread or personally ask someone who has used it.
10% is so high you might be blowing out the flavors to the point you can barely taste them; it sounds strange but that is a thing.
I heard that TFA Strawberry Ripe and CAP Sweet Strawberry mix very well.
How are the recommended percentages?
Does it improve further when adding even more strawberry flavors like FA or INW Shisha Strawberry?
Yes - it really depends on exactly what kind of strawberry you're going for, but try something like 6% Strawberry Ripe + 3% CAP Sweet Strawberry + 1% FA or INW Shisha.
Another great combination is 3% Strawberry Ripe, 2% Shisha Strawberry, 0.5% FA Strawberry, as seen here: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/3600#sweet_strawberry_cream_by_cheebasteeba
Anyone tried Stixx Mixx's coffee flavors?
Are there any flavours/recipes that actually benefit from a higher VG/PG ratio?
VG/PG ratio is about preference, whether you enjoy smooth clouds or more throat hit. Since PG is the main flavor carrier, anything less than 20% will inhibit the flavors, but you won't benefit much beyond 50% PG either, regardless of recipe.
Yeah I'm not actually a new mixer just didn't think that question was worth a post, but I've upped my PG to 40 from 30 recently and am enjoying more taste. I just wondered why most recipes recommend a 70/30 ratio when surely they want to maximise flavour in the recipe they created. I mixed up another batch of Kreeds Kustard and went back to the recommended 70/30, it just felt like it made more sense. But wasn't sure if it was just the smoother experience of vaping custard/bakery recipes I craved (if that makes sense), or whether VG does actually 'work' better with certain flavours.
I've seen your name around for a while, it's hard to miss ;)
I'd say that recommendation is mostly just stating what they mixed it at, so people don't try it at max VG and complain that it doesn't taste enough or max PG and say that it shreds their throats. Also a matter of habit I suppose, people just enjoy that ratio. I prefer a bit higher PG, I'm happy anywhere from 35-50%.
That said, high VG can be nice for really heavy creams and custards as it adds a bit to the mouthfeel and sweetness while reducing some of the bitterness of PG. But the visual appearance of those thick clouds along with that creamy flavor is probably what is the most appealing about it. In that sense, it could work better I suppose. It might feel weird to vape a creamy custard at high PG.
Thanks for the heads up about not really needing to steep this, my wife is very excited to try it, so we'll probably test it when she gets home. I'm probably just overly cautious when it comes to steeping; basically everything I make, cream or not, usually sits for at least three days before I try it. Like you, I'm afraid the percentage of Red Bowl is way too high, but I've never used it either. Most places I checked have it anywhere from 8-13%, but I am thinking somewhere around 5% may work out better as well. I may have to go the sucralose route, but I hope not. I think she'll be plenty happy if this just hits the right profile. Thanks again, and once I nail down a final recipe, I'll be sure and post in the monthly thread. Have a great day!
