Split - Icecream
submitted over 8 years ago by ihatetoridethebus

This used to be my favorite icecream, it is a creamsicle on the fruitier side. It combines wonderful passionfruit, juicy orange and creamy vanilla.

Recipe:

  • 5% Passionfruit Cap
  • 3% Creamsicle Cap
  • 3% Vanilla Swirl TFA

Optional:

  • .5% Koolada
  • Sweetener, preferably Super Sweet by Capella

For the owners of a printer or access to a copy shop, have a nice label.

Let's look into the choices of the concentrates.

Passionfruit made by Capella is the hearthnote because the slightly tart flavour is the closest i could find, and i used it at 5% to make it the main character as it should be the fruity main note.

Cap Creamsicle is a flavour that needs a lot of steep, and it is a good combination of orange notes and the creamy vanilla i needed. Other Oranges were to bold. In previous versions i tried my luck with Vanilla Bean Gelato and FA Orange, but it was always slightly off and therefore unsatisfactory. Also, i tried to use the minimum of different concentrates to help with steeping and avoid the flavour becoming a muddled mess.

The TFA Vanilla Swirl is a workhorse and works good in combination with creamsicle as it adds more vanilla and a good mouthfeel, just whats needed to round out the recipe.

A five day steep is recommended, but not mandatory. The Cap Creamsicle gets smoother with time.

I am glad to be able to share this recipe before summer hits with full force, enjoy.

Paint.net, very low learning curve and has add-ons.

Brother DCP165, and regular paper+tape to fix the label.
I want to try some highgloss adhesive paper next.

I can relate on so many levels. First, this was my favorit ice cream as well. Second, I also hate to ride the bus.

Thanks for sharing, will give this one auf try!

Thanks. Just mixed up a 30ml. What sort of steep time would you recommend?

Smells nice & looking forward to trying it. Thanks for the share.

Five days are good, it will change colour and get a light orange tone, but feel free to test it ahead of time.

Edit: I have to add, i mixed it at 86VG/14PG.
