Essential Depot vs Nic River VG
submitted over 8 years ago by HyperactiveAdult

I've been using essential depot for the longest time to source my VG. I was taking a look at Nic River today and was thinking about placing an order with them. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with both the palm based VG from essential and the VG from Nic River? Any real noticeable difference between the two?

I have experience with nicotine river, and I'll probably not be returning to them. My package was delivered a week late and the gallon of VG was damaged. It wasn't busted open or anything, but the spout at the top was mashed in and i haven't been able to get it back out. It's caused me to lose a good amount of my VG just through puring it into a funnel despite doing it as carefully as possible. I understand this isn't a huge deal so I didn't complain or anything and it very well could have been the post's fault, but i think I'll just try my luck with Wizard's Lab next time.

Sorry I can't offer a comparison, but I hope this still helps some.

13.99/gal at NicRiver vs 26.99/gal at WizardLabs... seems like it's worth taking a chance. I've ordered from them more than a dozen times and the one time I had a problem, customer service was awesome. I can almost guarantee they would have sent you another gallon free, if you had contacted them.

Good to hear. It's just something that has been eating at me. With as infrequently as I buy VG I may give them another shot based pn your recommendationof their customer service. Seems I'm the only one that has been unsatisfied with them, so I doubt it was something that's likely to recur. :)

I stopped using nicotine river after my bottle of VG turned out to contain 100mg nicotine instead. The bottle label, and invoice stated VG but under the cap there was "100mg VG" written in sharpie. My husband and I refuse to use them again.

Makes you feel any better that happened to me with 4 gallon jugs with essential depot! But I'm still going to use them.

Nicotine river has the best tasting (well, purest) of all the other distributors I've tried. Their nicotine is especially good and pure. I've used wizard labs, rts, and the flavor apprentice and I personally prefer nicotine river. Everyone who vapes my homemade stuff likes it a lot and I've never gotten any complaints of bad flavors. Also, the damaged package was probably due to the shipping service, not nicotine river. Should have bought insurance if you really care about losing a few mils of VG.

Yah that sounds like shipping's fault. Did you contact NR with your problem?

After making this post, I skimmed through my emails to see if they had a survey and sure enough there was a review I could leave attached to the O#. Left a kindly worded review explaining the problem and to see if it was maybe on their end. Time will tell, I suppose, but I'm almost certain it was shipping as well.

The clincher is that it arrived late as well, as long as it shipped promptly I can't see it as their fault. I think if you'd contacted them directly (vs leaving a review) they might have hooked you up...

I have tried a lot of different brands of VG and noticed almost nothing different between them. Some are a tad bit thicker or just a tad bit sweeter but they all have the same standard of quality as they are USP grade. I always use Essential Depot as I can get free shipping on a gallon through Amazon, but if someone else had a better deal I would buy theirs.

I've recently switched to essential elements from Amazon. About a dollar more than essential depot but it seems higher quality from the clarity to the viscosity, I'd recommend to anyone. The packaging is great and I think someone would have to shoot it with a gun to ruin that thing. Large white container with a handle on top and a double sealed cap

I like to keep using the same distributor/product if I have a good experience with it. I have tried Froggy's (?) PG & VG, and now I'm using Essential Depot with good results. Free Prime shipping is where it's at. I also get tiny bottles on Amazon, which I use for single flavor testing. They are cheap but also cheap in quality, so I don't use them for anything but testing.

I have been ordering from nicotine river and liquid barn and I feel like they might be using the same source. Both are good. I am however going to give Essential Depot through Amazon prime a go as I just happen to be out of base at the moment which sends me into a major panic. Free next day shipping where I'm at you just can't beat it. While extremely reliable I am extremely impatient and feel like Nic River will sit on orders for a day or two-so even though I live a few hours from them it still takes about 4 business days to get to me typically. Again, I am impatient but getting the same quality the next day is appealing to me if I'm out of something.

I personally order from Essential Depot through Amazon for the free shipping with prime.

I've ordered from Nic River and it seems about the same quality. However I don't do business with Nic River normally. I saw the owner in a couple of youtube videos and I don't really care for his attitude or smugness.

Way cheaper to order from ED if it's ~~1 gallon~~ 2 or 4 gallons or more.

Actually the price on Amazon is a few cents cheaper. Also with Amazon Prime I pay no shipping. At the ED site I would have to pay almost $14 for shipping.

Ok, I'll change that to buying 4 gallons or more (GlyCubes). Even the 2 gallons is comparable ($58.76 with free shipping), and you're still paying $100 a year for Prime, which you can break down by how often you buy there.

No experiance with Essential Depot VG but everything I've heard it's great. I recently bought a liter of Nic River VG and I have no complaints with the VG or Nic River.

As a vendor I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Nicotine River. With that being said I have not tried their vg as I'm still working through a glycube from essential depot

I used ED Palm based for over a year. Tried Nic River starting about 6 months ago. ED is very good, I never had a problem. Clean and pure. Nic Rover is thicker and sweeter than ED. Which I like a lot. I don't like to use sweeteners, and the natural sweetness of the Nic River's works better for me, especially as a dessert and custard vaper. But both are very good!

I love nic river, never had issues. Of course last time I ordered from them I lived a few hours from their warehouse, but it was a good experience.
