So I'm mixing one of my favorite recipes and they look like this from ELR (more or less)
* Caramel (FA) 0.9 3
* Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP) 4.5 15
So I'm mixing and watching TV and all of the sudden I am very sad. I need 15ml of CAP Vanilla and only have 15ml total to split across 2 30ml bottles of juice. Well crap. Guess I'll just split it in half and lighten up the vanilla. I like the caramel coming through a little stronger anyway.
Only after I put everything together and filled the bottles with the rest of the VG did it hit me. Putting 7.5ml of a single flavor into a recipe was WAAAY too much. It's way too late to do anything about it. I mean, I can fix it but it's going to take advanced math to figure out how to dilute this correctly. I wanted a 4oz bottle of CAP VC anyway I guess.
This is even more dumb than mixing a 6mg 60ml recipe into a 30ml bottle. I didn't notice that till it steeped for a week and tried it on my new .15 coil. Not sure I had a nicotine hit like that since my very first cigarette.
the stupidest thing I ever did was make juice for someone that kept annoying me because they wanted juice. the stupid part is, I just grabbed a bunch of random flavours and squirted them into the bottle, no measuring. I wanted to make something rancid so they'd leave me alone. the end result was something really awesome and I have nfi what the recipe was, so it's lost forever :(
It's like the Dum Dum mystery flavors. You have no idea what it is and you might not ever taste it again.
If I remember correctly, the mystery flavors are the flavor crossovers that happen during flavor changes in the machines used to make them. Same deal with the airheads mystery flavor.
If that's true it no wonder none of them taste the same. Every one would be different flavors in different percentages.
> t's going to take advanced math
I hope you are joking.
Try the recipe calculator. It has pre-programmed functions for diluting the flavor percentage of a liquid. I use it for all my recipes and it makes everything super easy.
This is awesome! I didn't know this existed
Dark Star has dripper caps for sale separately. If you don't screw it on tight enough then it falls off when you go to add the concentrate and you pour half your bottle into whatever you're mixing. I lost a bunch of concentrate and what I was already mixing up due to this. The stupid thing was I reset and forgot to check the cap on the next flavour and immediately repeated my mistake.
My stupid thing happened last night. I was mixing at my computer desk and I was weighing out some new flavors so I could get the density right. I'd weigh the flavor, then add what I needed to the recipe. I was on my last flavor when I reached over and knocked the bottle over. Since I always add my flavors last, I spilled out all of the flavorings and basically ruined the batch.
I was spot cleaning the carpets with white vinegar and left the jug on the floor near my mixing setup. Cue me adding several hundred mls of vinegar instead of VG, thus ruining the mix. Yes, it was caught before it was bottled, vinegar and VG don't have similar viscosity or smell, but damn if it wasn't the last of that flavoring with no way to salvage any of it.
I'm glad this thread is here, now I'm not tempted to start a whole thread about this dumbass move.
I'm a fairly new DIYer so I'm just adding basic Nicotine River flavorings to premixed base, and I was in a hurry to get out the door to hang out at a bar with a friend.
Instead of grabbing my 2 oz bottle of RY4 juice I mixed up earlier that day, I grabbed the 2oz bottle of RY4 flavoring. And nothing else. And then proceeded to sit there and occasionally vape RY4 flavoring for almost an hour, wondering why I was starting to get cranky about people smoking cigarettes around me (including my friend), and why my juice was so over-flavored and awful even on the gunky coil, since I'd been vaping it earlier that day and it was fine.
So I rebuilt my old coil and rewicked, which is what I was planning to do anyway as we were sitting outside on the patio of the bar. I still didn't notice I was vaping pure RY4 flavoring until I re-soaked my coils and took a couple of puffs, then finally actually looked at the bottle.
Derp. Blech.
I keep my flavorings put away now and I stopped using that 2oz screwtop for dripping and switched back to unicorn bottles, just to make sure that never happens again.
One time I spilled FA Condensed milk on my desk.
The drip drop nipple thingy from my ECX bottle of DNB comes off with the cap occasionally. So I twist off the cap and go to put some drops (1%) into my mix, and whooosh, out comes a shit ton of ash tray flavor all into my mix, my scale and eventually my hands as I hurry to clean it up. Not fun. Almost did it again a week later. That bottle is finished now and replaced. It smelled like I smoked an actual cig in my room after.
I've also inadvertently squirted pure flavoring up my nostril while trying to do a smell test. I've done this several times and will probably continue to do it because you never know when it'll happen.
Was mixing a recipe with holy holy grail ry4 and then another with holy vanilla.
Mixed the ry4 liquid and then went to mix the vanilla, used the ry4 instead. They're not even in similar bottles and I've done it twice.
It turned out ok, but not even close to what it was supposed to be.
Well one time I was finishing a mix, added nicotine, shook it up, and set it down right next to the squeeze bottle I keep my nicotine in. I wasn't paying attention so instead of dripping the juice I just made, I dripped straight up 100mg/ml nicotine in my RDA. I've never coughed so hard in my life but hey, at least I now know that keeping my nicotine in a bottle that is exactly like the ones I use for mixes is a pretty bad idea.
Last week I got up early because a friend called and was coming over to get a bottle that I forgot to make, So I rush to my lab , take out all the flavors, Take vg/pg bottles I use to refill. take my 1L VG bottle and grab the smaller bottle to refill my mixing VG bottle when I noticed I just put 30ml of VG in my sweetener bottle. Oh well talk about a waste of sweetener, I grabbed the wrong bottle to fill :(
