OK new mixers, this is your thread to ask any questions you want of the DIY eJuice community. All posts are allowed, but we still encourage you to use the sidebar and search features before asking any questions.
- Placing your first DIY order and want to make sure you have all you need?
- Not sure about how to mix your first bottle?
- Want to get started but aren't sure how?
- Any other questions? ... then this is the thread for you. FWIW, the answers to the first three questions will eventually be found in the wiki (still in development); link at the top of the page.
Ask away!
Wanted to try adding saline to my juices but i'm not really sure how i should make it.
Pure salt and making it 5% in PG would do the trick?
Not even close. Look up how to make saline solution on google. It requires distilled water and sea salt.
First, why do you want to do it?
When i cook anything sweet i usually put a dash of salt in it to make the flavors pop and since i started mixing i wondered if it would work. I then came across the Charlie Noble's PB Cereal and thought to myself "Yeah, maybe that's not such a bad idea".
A while ago someone was posting that "Gush" was just the Shirley Temple flavor is that right?
I just want to say. I'm slowly learning. My first juice was just max VG and 15% red slush. Shake and caped it was awful. Tried everyday up to a week and it was still dreadful. Made a single flavour cinnamon spice at 20%!! It was dreadful. Last of these first juices I made Hawaiian punch which is its own concentrate. Which it was absolutely awful. Mixed at 15% VG.
I'm mixing no nicotine juices and was aiming for max VG every time. I then found out that 1. My flavours really sort of suck on their own. 2. Don't add so damn much. I didn't realise that less = better. I mean it's illogical to everything in my life so far haha. I want a stronger tasting alcoholic beverage? Add more vodka! Unfortunately when I did my research mixing doesn't go like that. Something I've also started doing and I'm not 100% if I need to. But I started mixing at 70vg/30pg as PG is known to carry the flavour and 30% is enough that I don't get a throat hit and no nicotine for that reason too. I hate the throat hit.
Anyway I discovered on ELR. The flavour list page and oh my god it's been a life saver. I combined my creme espresso, sweet cream and the tiniest bit of cinnamon and the outcome after 3 days of steep has been my best yet.
Next on my list is to make someone else's recipe with one of the highest rated Mothers Unicorn Milk on ELR. I was wondering how much it'd affect the recipe by changing it from 50/50 to 70vg/30vg and making it no nicotine if anyone has ever made the recipe before. Also any other tips please leave a comment.
(I wrote out the big paragraph for newbies to read incase that's a mistake they've been making too.)
Happy Mixing Monday!
I recently went through my old notebook where I kept my flavor notes and recipes. Probably my first recipe ever, after doing zero research, was about 21% total flavor. It featured a tobacco flavor at 10%, Marshmallow and Graham Cracker each at 5%, and 1% Buttered Popcorn. As you can probably guess, it was not good. Definitely a good idea to research a little.
TFA Brown Sugar Extra - Can I dilute it to TFA Brown Sugar strength?
So I bought a 10ml of TFA Brown Sugar Extra rather than TFA Brown Sugar since BCF was out of stock a the time. I have a few recipes I want to make that call for brown sugar. I have seen a few mixers on here say that Brown Sugar extra was the same as brown sugar, but just more concentrated (about 3x if I remember right).
Can I just add my 10ml of Brown Sugar Extra to 20ml of PG and end up with a 30ml TFA Brown Sugar?
I just use it at half to 3/4 the % in recipes. Diluting could be problematic, it's not that strong imo.
Thanks. I want to mix up some Bourbon Ice Cream by taclite I saw on here. I will half the % and try it.
I purchased a 1ltr premix of 70/30 VG/PG but when I use a calculator to do 70/30, it says to add so many ml of VG and PG separately. Would I just add these two together and use that figure for my premix?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. Many thanks
When you add flavorings, you no longer have a 70/30 mix. Easiest thing to do is to just measure out your flavoring then top off with your 70/30 base. You'll end up with less VG and more PG, but you'll be fine.
follow up question: are there any online calculators or apps that will take into account that you're starting with a 30/70 mix?
First order: http://imgur.com/a/FkiRV
Going to source PG, VG and bottles locally. The price difference is not that big for the quantities that I want for now and this way I'm helping local vape shops.
I have a 0.01g scale, rubber gloves for protection and I'll use a syringe with a blunt needle to dispense the nicotine.
I just want to see if DIY is something that I'll enjoy, but still wanted a little variety.
Am I missing something? Do you think I can do 4-5 recipes from this ingredients? What would you change?
You don't want to choose flavors first. You want to find a recipe or two and base your order off of that. I would have also replaced the Gelato with VBIC
I thought it Gelato and VBIC was the same. Glad I posted this x) Thanks.
When I picked this ingredients I had Mustard Milk and Strap On in mind.
I also saw a Caramel + Fuji recipe somewhere and the pepermint was the wild card to experiment with.
Each flavor is different and each flavor company is different. Percentage will vary for each one. Once you mix for awhile you will understand how much to put in each. For example, you wouldn't want to do 10% FA Fuji if a recipe says 10% TFA Apple. You'll have a bad time. Even flavorings within the same company but have different names will differ from one another. Gelato is nothing like VBIC.
Guys I dont know what I did or what the concentrate is made from but I am getting little brown spots in my e-liquid. I mix every liquid in my dads lab with gloves on,hairnet etc. I also use usp grade PQ and usp grade VG. The concentrade I used was from T-juice called "green steam".I made a 80/20 Vg/Pg. Is this normal or something to be concerned about ?
http://imgur.com/a/5Vhrr
I would be mildly concerned. They don't go away? Give the liquid a hot bath (in the bottle) to warm the VG and then shake it up a lot to homogenize it. If it still has brown spots, you should try and deductively figure out where they came from.
Wanting to make a cereal cheesecake because it sounds delicious, and I'd like some tips on percentages. The flavorings I want to use are:
- *FW Fruit Rings 2.0%
- FW Crunch Cereal 2.0%
- CAP NY Cheesecake 4.0%
- TFA Cheesecake (GC) 3.0%*
I am hoping that using both of these cheesecakes will yield a very strong Cheesecake flavor--- most cheesecakes I try don't taste much like the cream cheese element at all. This could be a slight immunity to the flavor from trying so many juices using one or the other. I am looking for strong cheesecake with a cereal crust basically. So my questions are: What would you add or change about this recipe? In an effort to improve the creaminess, I'm thinking about using one of these: FA Yogurt, TFA Greek Yogurt, FLV Cream, FA Fresh Cream, CAP Sweet Cream, FW Sweet Cream (I have all of these). In an effort to improve mouthfeel if necessary I am thinking to add a dash of VC1, or maybe Marshmallow etc. but I don't want it to be overwhelmingly sweet, and I don't want to reduce my chances of popcorn lung at all. I also expect that I'll have to play around with the cereal %s.
Thanks for reading and in advance, for helping. =)
Cap NY 1%
TFA 4%
FW Rings 2%
I would start here. Cap NY is just too cheesy for me to go much higher. TFA at this % will give you that cereal crunch, the CC may not be needed. Give it 3 days before trying or adjusting. And make a couple variations at the same time, to compare as it steeps.
As far as additives, I say start simple and stay simple. I wouldnt add anything to this mix until I got the %'s nailed down. Then any of those you mentioned (FA Fresh would be my first choice) would be useful around 1%.
LA Cream Cheese Icing may be what you are looking for. A sweet cream cheese, closer than NY, very much like the icing on a cinnabon. I have even enjoyed it standalone at 2%
Thank you for your help. I made your raspberry custard on 5/7 and I am anxious to vape it. I had a taste about 3 days after mixing but I knew it wasn't ready. Hard to wait, though, and I hope it's not one of those recipes where I'm pissed that I didn't mix more ;)
Any recommendations for a TFA cherry blossom recipe? I have yet to use it, but it is calling me. I almost want to swap it into one of the custard or cheesecake recipe and see what happens.
Thanks! One month is the sweet spot for steeping. And I want to mention that lately I have been mixing the Raz at just half a percent. When I made that recipe, I was still using a Nautilus Mini at 11 watts. Little more higher power these days;)
Sorry, I have Zero exp with TFA Cherry Blossom. I think it is considered a "floral" tho, and should probably be used pretty low.
Definitely not FA Yogurt. Yuck. Good god, man. That's pickled foot mayonnaise.
Have you tried that recipe yet after a long steep? It might turn out to be exactly what you were hoping for.
Or you might want to add a little of that CAP Sweet Cream or FW Sweet Cream for the creaminess.
I recently got a small bottle of VBIC. When I put a drop on my tongue to taste it I got that strong peppery flavor that people often complain about. I haven't mixed anything with it because I fear the juice will have that peppery taste when vaped.
Is it possible to taste the peppery flavor in liquid form but not when vaped? or should I continue to avoid using VBIC?
Only one way to find out
By asking people who like VBIC if they taste the peppery flavor in liquid form before wasting time effort and supplies to make some juice I might hate?
No, make a 10ml, mix it at 4% and see for yourself. Not many people who taste pepper in vbic are gonna keep it around and they're probably less likely to have put it on their tongue. Just my 2 cents. It's all subjective so you're the only one who can prove it to yourself
Oh man, I wouldn't test flavors by dropping straight onto your tongue. These are pretty concentrated flavors (sometimes really concentrated) in some sometimes pretty chemical tasting bases. A lot of them, probably most of them, are going to taste foul at 100%, even if it's just one drop. And once you get them in your mouth at that concentration they are going to mess up your sense of smell and taste for a while. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about flavors from tasting them undiluted (other than that I shouldn't taste them undiluted.)
Sometimes I put a little ejuice on my finger and lick it when I'm in a situation where I can't vape but need nicotine. Like dead batteries at work, etc. and the flavor is super strong, even diluted significantly. I would also recommend not doing that. But it's also possible that the pepper tasters are just more sensitive/receptive than usual to the flavor, in which case tasting it would prove nothing, because we are all extremely sensitive to undiluted flavorings. You feel me? It's a hobby bro, mix up a sample and give it a whirl ;)
My juices have started to taste harsher to me and I think it's the PG. Everyone that tries my juice thinks it's fine so it must be something up with me. I don't think it's the nic, I use Carolina Xtracts now that stays in the freezer.
Are there different qualities for PG that someone can recommend? I might try PDO but it's pretty expensive...
What PG are you using?
I'm finishing up a quart by Essential Elements that I bought when I started DIY in October. I keep it in a box in a closet between filling up the 4oz bottle that sits on my desk with my flavorings.
What recipe sites does everyone use? I'm currently using e-juice recipes but I often don't find what I'm looking for and I'm not brave enough to experiment (or have a ton of concentrates to waste)
www.alltheflavors.com is pretty much pure golden recipes, in my experience. www.e-liquid-recipes.com has TONS of recipes, though many are duplicates or just minor changes to others, so there is more "research" to do before making each one. On that website, I stick to 5-star rated recipes unless I'm feeling adventurous or I know the mixer from this subreddit or elsewhere.
There are also tons of great recipes in the history of this subreddit. Looking through each of the archived monthly recipe threads is always fun. You can easily use google to search any of these websites, including this subreddit by typing "site:www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice custard recipe" etc. Good luck!
I've been looking at recipes in this sub and at first didn't understand what percentages next to flavour mean, but then it hit me. Do you guys really put 10—15% total of flavours into you e-liquid on a regular basis? I know it depends on the flavour, but isn't that just way, way too much?
I mostly go with 2—3%, rarely do I get greedy and put 5% and it's already quite too much flavour. The flavours I use are almost exclusively TFA with some rare Cap.
Maybe the less vapour your rig produces, the more flavour you need? Or maybe you get desensitized to those flavours over time and start to need more?
> Do you guys really put 10—15% total of flavours into you e-liquid on a regular basis?
do you mean single flavors or total percentage of the mixture?
>Maybe the less vapour your rig produces, the more flavour you need?
~~I'm fairly sure it's the other way around. more vapor = more flavor.~~ wait, shit. actually I don't know. I've always gone for high density vapor production.
>Or maybe you get desensitized to those flavours over time and start to need more?
You can, yes, it's called vaper's tongue. but generally one doesn't increase the flavor percentages to get around it. you just switch flavors. I'm pretty sure it's called olfactory fatigue.
it's all down to preference, though staying below 20% flavoring is recommended. out of my public recipes the highest amount is at 16%.
Why?
because:
Lorann Banana Cream - 3%. Tastes fantastic at this percentage. it could probably be lower but I want it to be a (or the) main flavor you taste.
TPA Bavarian Cream 2% - makes a really nice sweet, thick creaminess at 2%. bavarian cream is one of my weak points, I always want more of it. it mixes with the VBIC to make a sorta milk-shakey taste.
TPA Marshmallow 1.5% - creates a nice, thick, sweet mouth feel without messing with the flavors at all.
TPA Strawberry 2.5% - used in this recipe to mix with the CAP sweet strawberry (3%) and help round it out so that it can compete and meld with LA Banana cream.
TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 4% - As a base, for thickness and creaminess.
Less usually is more but most of the time individually. another example my tangerine creamsicle. 5.75% flavoring but it bursts at the seams with flavor.
Really it all depends on the flavor, its potency, and its role in the mix. Some more complex mixes that layer flavors can get up there. I've ended up with a couple in the 15% range. I end up proportionally bumping everything down to about 12% though. But those were mixes where I went a little crazy and ended up with like 9 flavors. It all just added up quickly. A large majority of mine end up closer to the 5-7% range using 3-5 different flavors. If I see a recipe that has any flavors above 5%, I'm a little cautious. You could always try it as is, or cut it all in half and try it.
this isn't so much a new mixers question as a general expression of new found love for FA's forest fruit. i've done a bunch of searching around here, atf, and elf, and i've found some nice examples of how to use it. thus far the only one i've made is the classic from cheebysteeby, berry creamy. it's fucking killing me, ugh this recipe is so good. i only made 15 ml on sunday morning and it was gone last night. i know that doesn't sound like much, i know some people drain like 30ml + a day but that's not how i vape, i usually switch around a lot and also don't go through that much juice. i think it's because i don't enjoy super high wattage, and keep my ohms around 0.5 instead of real low.
idk. anyhow!
i've got some other ideas on what to do with forest fruit, but i thought i'd just put it here, if anyone who also loves forest fruit and loves berry creamy has any tried and true recommendations for a forest fruit lover please lay em on me, plz and thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I've seen this asked before but I haven't gotten a definitive answer. I've been mixing for about a month now. All TPA flavors and liquid barn nic. I've mixed 0 nic juice and it's amazing, however, even if I put 1.5% nic in my juice, the taste is mostly nicotine and it's very harsh. I mix mostly creamy flavors and fruity flavors. I steep for about 1 week and let my juice breath for 30 minutes after mixing. Is it my liquid barn 100 mg/ml nicotine that is causing this? Very unsure.
Can anyone please link me to or provide me with a mango single flavor recipe? By single flavor I mean, single flavor component, not just one flavoring. I'd like to make an all mango e-liquid that fully encompasses a mango but I literally have not found any recipes yet
I feel you. It seems like all of the available mango concentrates cover parts of the mango but none really give you the full fruit. FLV's comes close but still falls short. Here you go:
- 3% FLV Mango
- 1.75% CAP Sweet Mango
- 1.5% TFA Mango
- 1% FA Mango
- 0.5% TFA Cotton Candy/Ethyl Maltol
Paging the resident Mango expert, /u/ID10-T
Thanks for throwing up the mango bat symbol, chief.
Btw, have you seen the glowing reviews on ATF for Coop's Kiwi Bourbon and Coop's Kiwi Cheesecake?
No I haven't. And can't see ATF from work. First thing that I will do when I get home tho! Thank you so much for posting them up, and for the gift of a membership. I still use ELR for experiments and what-not, but park all my best ones on ATF. Speaking of which, have you ever gotten a chance to mix Silly Bird? The change from Silly Rabbit to Tricks Cereal pushed it into perfection for me. One that I will be in my rotation for a long while.
Not really surprised about the feedback on those recipes. Most folks will choose to mix a simple looking recipe over a complex one IMO. Plus FA Kiwi is just good!
New DIY'er here and just made my first 2 bottles. I do have some questions, though.
I like fresh fruit flavors, but smooth, with some creaminess.
These are all TFA at 75/25 VG/pg, 3% nic
4% cucumber. 4% honeysuckle. 2% cantaloupe. 1% Bavarian cream. 0.5% marshmallow.
I let it steep overnight and wanted to try it, before giving it the obligatory 1-2 weeks steep. The cream flavor is extremely overpowering, almost nutty tasting. It's sweet, but almost devoid of cantaloupe or cucumber flavor. The cucumber is almost an aftertaste, when it's supposed to be centered along with the canteloupe.
So, my question: Are all cream tastes this overpowering and did I use too much? Will steeping allow the fruit flavors to come out more, because I thought with fruit you wanted less steep time, due to the taste evaporating? Do I add more cantaloupe, because from what I've read, that flavor can be overpowering?
This recipe ended up being more creamy cucumber, and less fresh fruity smooth. It's not terrible, but not as crisply refreshing like I'd hoped.
Any tips would be appreciated.
-edited for recipe clarity
I'm looking to play around with some tobacco recipes. What tobacco flavors are worth picking up outside of TPA RY4 Double?
Have you ever tried an actual tobacco flavor? TFA RY4 Double is far from a tobacco flavor IMO. To me it's a super sweet caramel with earthy notes.
The reason I ask is because the actual tobacco flavors are A LOT different than RY4 is. They can turn a lot of people off.
Does anyone know where I can get a dripping top cap that I can attach to this VG bottle? Its such a pain to get VG out precisely without it
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C7MTLA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yes. From the same place you bought it from. They are condiment style Yorker caps
Pretty sure they don't sell caps for those.
You could always just get bottles like these
You can put Yorker caps on them. It's what I have on mine
If I mix 150mL of 3mg with 30mL of 6mg, what would the final 150mL be?
Is TFA cheesecake (graham crust) supposed to be extremely nutty tasting/smelling?
Hey r/diy_ejuice I'm trying to assemble a diy kit and I need some input about what else I might need here's the base kit I'm starting with https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01G2QZQG8/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=AXPR7QPMX4ZG7KM8PRT1 and here's the VG/PG I'm looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004C7MTLA/ref=pd_aw_fbt_328_img_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7J2NNYPXJWABZD7SDMX7 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005PZBRUC/ref=pd_aw_fbt_328_img_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7J2NNYPXJWABZD7SDMX7 and here's what I'm going to store the juice in https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N1LTEUD/ref=pd_aw_vtph_194_tr_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=G2WNGJ8AZ775WWDDK65V I think all I need now is to find flavor concentrate and nicotine, and if there's anything else you think I might need please let me know.
skip the syringes kit and just buy a scale. It's easier, consistent, and less messy. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M627SL0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's not the one most people use but it does have a shutoff timer... shutoff and comes with a calibration weight.
The VG is fine but you may want to consider buying it a gallon at a time. PG isn't used as often since it's in 90% of flavorings so you'll only need that quart.
As for bottles, since you seem to want to use amazon/prime: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A163BNA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 dripper bottles are a massive pain in the ass. LDPE dropper bottles, though, are fantastic. There are better places to get bottles, though. https://www.sks-bottle.com/ https://www.containerandpackaging.com/ https://dropperbottles.com/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010GZCIVM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use these as working bottles for PG/VG. bigger is usually better. my nicotine goes in the above bottles
So I assume I'd put the bottle a top of the scale and add? Also your the only one who has recommended plastic bottles, people say they retain the taste of the last juice that was in them . And where would you recommend me getting some flavor concentrates?
I'd go with the AWS LB-501 scale on amazon, not the one that was linked to you.
Also, plastic will retain flavor, but that's why you don't reuse the bottles for different juices. I'll just remake the same juice in the same bottle and it doesn't have any issues. If the bottle gets too fucked up to continue using, I just toss it. The cheapest place for bottles that I've found is bull city flavors.
depends on where you're located. the sidebar has a few suggestions.
If you're US based, GremlinDIY, nicotine river, bullcityflavors.
On the bottles, It's mostly preference but I've had nothing but problems from drippers. the cap can detach from the nipple/dripper and they can become very hard to open. some of my older glass bottles require me to pull up on the cap before it will even consider unscrewing.
I dunno why I'd be the only one to recommend plastic. LDPE is the way to go. it doesn't hold flavors that much, a warm bath and some soap will clean them out. It does also depend on your flavorings. something like FW Spearmint will flavorstain the shit out of anything it touches. although, one benefit of using LDPE is that it's very cheap compared to glass. you can get 50 LDPE 30ml bottles from that link for less than the 24 glass ones you linked.
LDPE is spft and squeezy, PET will crease when you squeeze it but holds flavors less. I haven't used HDPE but from what I can tell it's much stiffer than LDPE.
For the scale, yes. you put the bottle on top and tare off the weight (zero it out). from there you use a recipe site like www.e-liquid-recipes.com or www.alltheflavors.com which will tell you how many grams of each flavoring to add.
Tare bottle weight,
add one flavor, tare the weight,
add another flavor, tare the weight [etc],
add PG, tare,
add VG, tare...
add nic.. cap it off, shake and wait.
Then the only problem is labeling. Avery sells some pretty decent ones at walmart in the office supplies section. I've used these with some good results.
So what bottles do you use to transfer your nicotine to? The LDPE ones or ...? (I just got my first nicotine and I don't know what to do with it.)
i use the bottle the nicotine came in to transfer it to a 30ml LDPE bottle. to get it into the 30ml bottle you could try a funnel, freehanding it (literally just drip it in to the 30ml working bottle. i wouldn't.), or pipettes.
usually you'd only want to transfer over what you think you'd use in a week. 10ml can last a long time if you're using 100mg/ml.
I am looking for a ~pine-forest flavor..... A refreshing, green, ~outdoors flavor. I know it exists, had a small tester a long time ago that had this taste, but it didn't say what exact flavor it was. anyone perhaps know what I am looking for or have some suggestions?
So I found this subreddit after purchasing the large DIY kit from Vampire Vapes - I'd seen it before and thought it was a great thing to try out but have since realised I could have saved some money buying elsewhere but hey ho, lesson learnt!
Anyways, my first question is that in the UK, what does the TPD actually mean for DIY juice makers? I've seen a lot of you guys are stocking up before hand, why is this and have I entered the game too late!?
Secondly, I know this is probably a stupid question but what do you do with your syringes after using them? I've just been rinsing them with water and continuing to use them after they've dried off.. Do you only use certain syringes for certain things or are they good to be used with something else after a rinse?
Thirdly, what does the TFA mean (and all of the other three letter bits that I've seen) in TFA Dragonfruit for example and are there any particular places to buy these flavours from the UK? I've found some on google but was wondering if you guys had preffered sites? I don't know what I'm doing and therefore don't know if I'm getting the right stuff..
Anyways, thanks guys.. If I think of any more questions, which I probably will, I'll ask on here! Cheers
Not from the EU but i would imagine the only thing most people are stocking up on is liquid nic, which is going to be harder, if not impossible, to find in useful diy concentrations in a couple of days.
most of us don't use syringes for mixing. the majority probably mixed by weight because its easier and there's no cleanup. me personally, the only thing i use a syringe for is my nic because i don't keep that in a dropper bottle to keep air exposure to the minimum.
washing them out and letting them dry works though.
On mobile so I'll be brief. The TPD means you're limited to 10 ml containers of nic at no more than 20 mg/ml, and tanks can be no bigger than 2 ml. You can still mix and vape after the fact, it's just more of a hassle.
Washing and reusing syringes is fine, but I highly recommend mixing by weight instead.
TFA stands for The Flavor Apprentice (TPA = Perfumers ditto, same company). CAP = Capella, FA = FlavourArt, FW = Flavor West, FLV = Flavorah, etc (there are tons).
Oh yea, vendor in the UK, there are a few but check out https://www.chefsflavours.co.uk/
Can someone recommend a cereal for me that is more bready than milky? And citrusy without tasting like lemon pledge? Thanks!
You could combine CAP Cereal 27 and CAP Lemon Meringue Pie.
Thanks! Where would you recommend starting those at?
is there much of a difference between WS-3 (Koolada) from solubearome and Koolada 10% PG-TFA? I want to purchase everything from one site and the only koolada they have is tfa.
Hi everyone!
Tonight I will attempt my first ever diy mix. I am sitting at work right now with all the supplies delivered and trying not to clock watch.
I decided to do the nana cream clone. However the shop I bought from did not have the LA banana cream. So what I have got is: tfa dragonfruit, tfa strawberry and tfa dx banana cream. I am aware this might impact on how close the flavour is to the original however I am not necessarily looking to recreate nana cream: I just know I love the original juice and this recipe looks simple enough to try. Do I need to change the ratios at all because of the dx banana cream? Is there anything I should really pay attention to since it will be my first mix ever? I understand this is good as a shake n vape as well which was another reason I preferred it (I need something ready tonight).
Any suggestions welcome
You should have bought the original version of Banana Cream. Not DX. I would use that at 2%. Adding a cream would be wise, but since you do not have any, you can save that for next order. Also, order online. That way you can find whatever you want.
Is it better to buy individual VG and PG or to buy a base already made 70/30 ?
Separate. Flavor concentrates are most often PG based. When trying to make a 70/30 recipe you account for that and adjust the PG you'll add accordingly.
If you buy premixed 70/30 your recipes will essentially end up 65/35 (rough example) depending on how much flavor you use.
Do you think TFA sweetener could go bad? It's about 4 years old and has probably spent half that time with air con and half in a humid and hot room.
If you have 50ml of juice in a 100ml bottle, will the extra oxygen inside make the juice go bad? If so, how long do you think it would take to effect the juice?
with what can i sub TFA White Chocolate in Green Tea Kit Kat
I'm pepper taster. Mixed it, tryed and it taste like green tea black pepper :\
I have FW White Chocolate. Can i use it? If yes - at what %? I like FW White Chocolate at this recipe, but have no idea is it a good replacement or not
/u/exclusivegirl i'll appreciate any substitution recommendation which will help to mix something as close as possible to original recipe.
thanks
Go ahead and use FW, it will make it dry so add some marshmallow to help give it back some moisture. Just be aware it wont be the intended flavor since FE Green Tea gives FW White Chocolate a caramel note. I have tried with some other White Chocolates but have found issues with most of them. RF caused a lot of problems for me, chest pain and gunked up my coils immediately. I didn't experiment too much with MF, hadn't found the right % in the mix. If you find a decent combo that works for you, feel free to post it as a GTKK version for those who get pepper from TFA WC!!
thank you.
few more questions:
how many % of FW WC should i try to use? they same % as TFA? (i mean as a start point)
what is "GTKK version?"
what WC-es you tried making this recipe? Only RF/TFA/WF/MF? If yes - i will pick up some WC from another manufacturers and try it. it may take some time as i don't live in USA. I've to wait for shipping for ~2 weeks
GTKK = Green Tea Kit Kat. If you manage to find a white chocolate that works well for you for this flavor profile, feel free to share your version. FW and TFA are close on the potency for their White Chocolate flavors. You may need to up FW by a %, but I would start with the same % and add some marshmallow to see where it is at.
I only have RF (vg version), MF, FW, and TFA. I definitely tried playing with RF and was a no go. I think its loaded with sugar but am not 100% on that. FW just didnt work for me personally due to it giving too much of a caramel note and having the mix become very dry. I didn't give MF much attention but I hear great things. Its just a much more potent flavor and haven't gotten the % down.
Experiment and make it your own. I took GTKK as far as I could to get it as close to the actual candy as possible. The original recipe is tuned to my palate so it makes sense that people will have to adjust it to fit their own. Good luck and keep me posted on if you manage to find a solid alternative to TFA WC!
I wanted to try to imitate St Germain liqueur in a recipe. I was thinking FLV Elderflower with TPA Champagne, but anyone have any other ideas?
Yeah, that's the direction I went. I have a recipe up here that's more of a St. Germain cocktail. I feel like you need to get super weird and really push that elderflower up to get some body out of it, and the champagne was just the right thing to come back in and smooth everything out again. For just straight St. Germain, I'd recommend maybe a really light touch of sweetener to get the slightly syrupy thing down, but FLV Elderflower and TPA Champagne will get you most of the way there.
FLV Elderflower works really well to mimic St Germain. I've used it with some Flavor Monks gin recipes, and /u/ConcreteRiver did some work with FA Gin as well that was excellent. I'm generally against TPA Champagne, but it was a component in /u/ConcreteRiver's gin recipe as well and it seemed to work well.
You know who might be able to answer that question? Paging /u/concreteriver
You've got to look into a mirror and say it 5 times before I'll actually show up.
Just when I think you're done being creepy AF.
PSA: Unless you like men, do not google image search "Candyman" looking for a clever pictorial retort to one of ConcreteRiver's weird remarks. I don't know why, but it's fucking banana hammocks. Banana hammocks everywhere. Cannot unsee.
So I may be overthinking this but if i have a 30ml bottle of 1.5mg nic juice and i add .45ml of 100mg/ml nic would i end up with a 30ml bottle of 3mg nic juice?
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone here have experience with FW Biscotti? Is it good on its own, or does it need something else (i.e: sweetener or anise?) What would be a good percentage for it?
On another note, I'm noticing my mixes are watery and clear (or have the slightest tint) and I'm beginning to wonder what it is the commercial folks are doing that makes them so thick and yellow/brown. Would I have to steep these for 6 months+ to get the same result, or is it bad nic and other additives?
Edit: Not that I'm trying to replicate those effects, I'm just genuinely curious.
Hey all! Just curious, are there any B&M chain stores that you can buy a good scale from, such as Kitchen and Company, or Walmart? I don't mind ordering one online, but if I can pick one up locally, that would be much better because, impatient. I've been looking at descriptions online, and none really specify if they measure down to .01 grams. Thanks!
Are you in the US? If so you have no excuse to not order the AWS LB-501.
Hey, know it's been a few days, but I just wanted to say thank you for pointing me to the LB-501. I just got mine in the mail today, and it has completely changed my DIY life. I mixed up three batches tonight in the same amount of time as one batch would take with syringes, and my clean up was all but non-existent. Picked it up for $33 on Amazon and I must say it's worth every penny. Thanks again!
Is there any real reason why I can't just toss a big batch of juice in my kitchenaid mixer with the whisk attachment and mix it that way? 90% VG mixes take forever on the magnetic mixer.
Too much air
you've gotta be gunning for "Most helpful member of DIY_Ejuice" 'cuz I can't stop upvoting your advice.
#vouch #nomiated
Keeping in mind that i won't be storing nicotine in a freezer, is it better to buy 500ml of 72mg nicotine or 250ml of 100mg? I'm pretty sure i'll have to buy a bunch of amber bottles lol
I'm a new mixer myself, but I bought a 120ml 100mg/ml from Carolina Xtract and 12 * 10ml amber glass Boston Rounds (although I only needed 10 since I filled them right to the brim to keep air to a minimum). I transferred the nicotine to the rounds and store them in the fridge, except for the one I am using and that seems to work well. Probably would work just as well in a dark, cool cabinet. I saw this recommendation on one of the threads here.
The 100mg/ml will allow you to have a higher VG % if that matters to you. I got the 100mg because I saw a lot of mixers here using it and that is what Carolina Xtracts sells, plus my slight OCD likes round numbers :-)
Anyone else get a really green taste from cap sweet strawberry? I've tried using it in single flavor tests at 2-3 % and still only taste green. I even had my wife try it to see if it was just me, it wasn't. Is this a common thing like tfa vbic tasting peppery?
Well, it's common for people to not taste strawberry, and I think that's what's going on with you. There's lots of threads about it you could check out for more info =) I haven't tried that flavor by itself but if you want me to, I guess I could. Lmk
I can taste strawberry, I use tfa strawberry ripe in several mixes. And strangely the sweet strawberry has a strawberryish taste, it's almost exactly like eating a super green one though. No sweetness, or juicy goodness though. But thanks for the offer. I've got some rfsc strawberry on the way and will check out JF and inw shisha strawberry.
hi again. should i be using the 'manufacturer specific gravity' for flavors when mixing?
If you want to be super accurate, yes. Most of us use 1mL=1g, though. It's just much easier that way.
are there any must-have flavors for someone who mixes mostly fruity flavors up there with inawera cactus? I feel like I'm getting bored with mixing the past few months and could use another "ohhh crap" kind of moment like when I first started using it
As in enhancers or other fruit flavors?
i second the forest fruit suggestion. i made this and took the sweetener out and added in 0.5 cactus and it's fucking amazing.
How long should I let this steep?
A friend of mine recently tasked me with cloning her favorite juice. It's a hazelnut and Kahlua cream from a vendor that's no longer in business. Wolf something...At any rate, I had to search Google for the word "Kahlua" as I had never heard the word until she asked me to clone her juice.
The recipe is:
- 1% FA Dark Bean
- 1.5% FA Jamaican Rum
- 1% FW Hazelnut
- 2% FA Vanilla Bourbon
- 1% FA Vienna Cream
- .5% FW Butterscotch Ripple
- Total 7%. Mix is 70:30
I'm thinking a week should be long enough, but I've never used Dark Bean before and I know coffee flavorings take a while to settle.
With coffee and that much cream and vanilla it can take quite a while to come together properly, I would rather expect 2-3 weeks. But give it a taste once a week and take notes. Steeping time can vary greatly between different concentrates.
I always see people talking about a hot water bath to speed up the steeping time but I'm not sure what the details of this are. I'd like to try it but all I have to use it a microwave and a hot water kettle, is it possible? Thanks
it can improve steep times but it will also degrade the nicotine faster and can potentially ruin some flavors. it will make it easier to shake, though.
try it yourself, one mix in a hot bath and the other steeped normally and see what you find out. the worst thing that can happen is it won't taste like you'd expect.
Thanks but how hot should it be? How long do people normally do it? I made a 100ml of pistachio ry4 but havent added the nic yet so there shouldn't be a problem as far as that goes
From the UK here. Now the TPD regs have kicked in, I've just missed out, by my own mistake, stacking up on my nicotine. I usually buy from Darkstar. Anyways my question is, how do I make 16mg for my usual 50/50 mixes :/
Get on darkstar asap. as of this morning they were still selling it by the litre
I went on this morning and it wouldn't let me unless I was a registered business. Do you have a hack? :) haha I need my nic!
What do you mean, how do you make it?
Using darks stars "Nicotine Shots 10ml (18mg/ml)"
How do I calculate that into the steam calculator?
Wouldn't it cost so much more to make
Sorry mods if this isn't the right place to post.
I'm looking for DIY-er who could mix up some juices with nic salts for the icare.
Please PM me if you do!
It is against the rules to offer to buy or sell juice here. Have you tried https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_classifieds/ ?
