I wouldn't hold my breath for a good price. I'm in charge of ordering for my university Chem labs and these usually run $60-$80 each if you order in bulk. And the ones we buy don't have a fancy timer
Hmm, 60-80 smackers doesn't actually sound too bad for a device that could save my joints.
I'd actually pay up to $130/140 for one of these. I'm a geezer, so my joints are not like they used to be!
Ah well more power to you! Being both a broke college student and a young buck, I'd rather just shake. I definitely want one though. I'll have to see if I can grab an old one next time we upgrade

Actually I already made a shaker using a reciprocating saw, as well as using nail polish shaker, so I'm doing ok for now... if I do splurge on another mixing device, it's probably going to be this Nitecore! I'm a sucker for digital readouts.
Towards the end of last year I was doing ALOT of mixing. 5 or more bottles every other day or so. All the bottle shaking was giving me issues were my hands were feeling numb and falling asleep randomly. The verdict was all the mixing I was doing. The heavy shaking go get the VG thoroughly mixed. When I quit mixing and had a large stock this went away.
Laying the bottles on their sides and spinning them like that isn't mixing, it's more in line with a centrifuge.
If it spins fast enough it'll just separate the constituent liquids by density. If it doesn't spin fast enough to cause separation it'll essentially just push all the liquid towards one end of the bottle but wont really mix it (like how the Gravitron carnival ride pushes everyone to the walls, but thankfully doesn't try to blend everyone together ;p). Using the vortex would be the best method.
I'd also avoid the heat function, since heat is an enemy of nicotine and many (most?) volatiles in the flavorants.
I know some people like to try to speed up the aging process using heat, but honestly, time is your best friend when it comes to that.
Personally, since I wouldn't use the heat function I'd only end up paying for a feature I wouldn't use. You can find more affordable models on Amazon without that feature, or you could follow one of the many build tutorials to create your own using an old hard drive magnet and case fan.
All of that said, it sure is a nice looking piece of equipment.
Yes, that's what I was thinking, too: it's just acting as a centrifuge. There were some DIY hardware "mixers" where you would basically strap a bottle to a drill and let it spin. This, of course, is also centrifuge-esque, and does not mix the contents.
I would like to see a large batch being vortexed on this bad boy, with a large magnet.
Do these help it steep quicker? Other than convenience whats the benefit of these? do they help flavor in any way
I presume you don't actually leave the little magnetic stirrer bit in the juice after it's done mixing, seems pretty inconvenient to have to try and fish that thing out of a bottle of eliquid, no?
The video probably should have demoed them stirring with a 200ml beaker of liquid instead. I take it that is ultimately what you do right? Mix/add ingredients in a pyrex beaker , run that on stirrer , transfer to bottle?
You would use another magnet on the outside of the bottle to "fish" it out. I agree, they should have shown the vortex on a larger container.

Yep....that's what I do. Works like a charm.. I just fish it out and let it sit above the liquid for a minute so most of the juice on the stir bar drips off. The ones I have are made of Teflon so the liquid doesn't stick to them real well...it just kind of glides off.
I've used magnetic stirrers before for ejuice, they suck big time, the vg is too dense for the magnet to work properly even in a 200ml beaker, and honestly, do you plan on going into all that effort to mix a single 30ml bottle? Not to mention you actually have to take the magnet out once you are done mixing, and I bet my ass they are testing this stirrers with tinted water. Save yourselves a few bucks and headaches, go for a mechanical mixer, they are way better.
oh and the heating element will probably cook your juice, melt your bottle or heat it so much you'll end up burning yourself
Save your money and get an ultrasonic cleaner. If you wanna splurge, get one that has a heat function so you can warm your VG before you mix then turn it off it give it time to cool off while you mix. This is the one I have. I warm about 170g of VG, for 5min then turn it off and go make 5 30mL bottles. By the time I'm done, the UC is cooled off and I set it to a 25min cycle, pop my bottles in and let it shake the shit out of them.
