I know a lot of folks mix out of nostalgia as scent is tied so intimately with memory. One of my fondest memories is walking home from one of my high school girlfriends house on a cool spring night and being completely overtaken with the scent of some blooming star jasmine plants. I still revere it as one of the most intoxicating and pleasant aromas around. I am pretty certain that the common jasmine is an entirely different scent? Anyone know of any star jasmine concentrates????
Additional Research: This plant is not related to Jasmine but is actually in the dogbane family more closely related to plum. It is known in some parts as Confederate Jasmine and originates from China. The more I think about it I would say it is the best smell I have ever encountered....perhaps orange blossoms are a close second....c'mon Flavour Art lets get crackin'..hahahha
Never heard of a star jasmine but Flavour Art Jasmine is lovely.
I will throw some in my next bcv order. I threw some honeysuckle in a watermelon recipe and it did some really nice things for the watermelon...really enhanced it so now my wheels are turning on these florals as backnotes for fruits and some tea recipes.
Honeysuckle is amazing. Probably my favorite floral. Cherry blossom can be nice as well. I'll have to try honeysuckle and watermelon. Sounds interesting
I use it at around 1% in a 10% total melon mix. I know you mix low so probably cut that in half...like .5% in a 5% total flavoring mix as an accent note. So far I feel like the honeysuckle gets along pretty well with a lot of things...it seems like the pear of florals..hahhaha
I know Flavor Art has a Jasmine concentrate but I can't find anything in start jasmine if there is a difference (forgive my ignorance)

Thank you for this. I am pretty certain they are different as I've never picked up the smell of "star jasmine" in any products labeled jasmine like candles, lotions, etc. It may not even be a true jasmine not sure. Here in Southern California it is used extensively as an ornamental plant-not sure if it is present elsewhere in the country.
