I'm just beginning to formulate my own recipes rather than straight copy and paste off various sources. I had gotten some Creme de Menthe in an attempt to make /u/enyawreklaw's Cuprian but I made the mistake of ordering that god awful INW Milk Chocolate. I love the smell of it however, and want to create some sort of near minty-ice cream kind of recipe and am interested if anyone has done something with it and had any success.
I'm currently tinkering with TFA VBIC, Sweet Cream, Meringue, Marshmallow, and FW CdM. I guess I'm basically asking if anyone has made something awesome from CdM that somewhat emulates a minty/ice cream flavor.
Creme De Menthe - 2-3%, TFA VBIC - 2-3%, Meringue - 1% and you got yourself a good Mint Ice Cream. If you're tryna get that mint choco chip INW Milk Chocolate was awesome but sucks now, but JF Milk Chocolate is a great sub, as well as FLV Milk Choco. Just use 1-2% and you're set.

You said INW Milk Chocolate was awesome, did they change it? I haven't used it in a long time but it used to be my favorite chocolate when I mixed chocolate vapes.
If a juice is smooth for 3 days then gets harsh, could that be the nic or the combo of concentrates?
The concentrates, unless you mistreated it somehow through exposure to heat, light or air. A little surprising that it took three days for this to happen, it's usually apparent within a day, but maybe you use max VG or the culprit concentrate needed the time to steep. Check the coils though so it isn't gunk or anything like that.

It is a max vg mix, so that might be why it takes a few days. Safe to assume if it was the nic, it would be harsh straight off the bat?
Yup and yup, harsh nic is very obvious right away.
The best way to troubleshoot a mix that requires steep is to make multiple small batches. Leave out one or more concentrates from each batch, be sure to take notes, then in three days you should have your answer. Once you've figured out the culprit, you either omit or try to substitute it. You could of course test the concentrate solo to make sure it isn't harsh on its own, but usually it's just some combinations that don't work. Or you're sensitive to that particular concentrate, some are known to be offensive to some people, such as TFA Juicy Peach.
Just did a single flavor test of INW Milk Chocolate. Does anyone have opinions on it? Its not too bad, a lot better than I thought it would be.
Avoid buying it until further notice. INW had a falling out with one of their flavor manufacturers, and INW milk chocolate had to be reformulated. The new one is absolutely terrible. Enjoy the one you got, and cherish it; for it may be the last you have.
Would it be possible that what I have is the new one? And I don't mind it? If not what's the current best chocolate? I saw that Wayne was using JF so is that a worthy replacement?
I've tried about 8 chocolates including the original INW milk chocolate.
TPA double chocolate clear, HS Australian chocolate, FA chocolate, DIYFS chocolate cookie rounds, RF cookies and cream, and some others I'm forgetting...
They're all pretty bad, some are ok but quickly turn bad because of coil gunking. Higher wattage also make them suck more.
The only chocolate I can recommend is TPA double chocolate clear with just a hint of HS Australian chocolate (be prepared to change coils every day or sometimes every 2 tanks).
Real Flavors cookies and cream is also pretty decent but again will gunk your coils after 1-2 tanks. I've yet to find a chocolate that doesn't ruin my setup within 2 tanks. Taste is subjective but I can taste the difference between a properly running coil to one that is kicked, and with chocolate this process is 10-20 times faster.

Is Carolina xtracts worth it there 120ml is 17.99 and nicotine river is 250ml for 19.99 is it worth getting less ? I'm only mixing for me and a friend juice last me about a week at 6mg a bottle

Start with NR, if it starts to taste peppery to you and you feel like you would like to up your quality game, go with CXT.
I use nic river it's been totally fine. I keep a bottle in the fridge, most I've had it tucked away is 3-4 months.
I only order 250ml at a time to keep it fresher. I'd love to get Carolina extracts but I don't have the extra funds right now.
If I were mixing on a larger scale I definitely think the higher quality would be worth it but for now nic river is fine for my uses.
So I have some TFA- Fruity Hoops, and I was wondering what percentage you all would recommend? Also same question for Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - TFA.
It will depend on what else is in the recipe with both of those concentrates to determine how much you use. Did you have a recipe in mind?
Those both also happen to be rather polarizing concentrates as most people tend to get lemon pledge from Fruit Circles and a lot of people taste pepper in VBIC.

I am one of the few that really enjoys TFA Fruit Circles. If you can try to mix a bottle of tongue fuck, just search the sub. 7% in that recipe is pretty intense so I would drop it down to 5%. Really high percentages with it tends to get a very off putting lemon pledge flavor.
TFA VBIC is magical of you don't get black pepper from it. I use it anywhere from 1%-6%. 6% being the main flavor.
I love holy vanilla. I'm a little late to the praising of this flavor but it is definitely the best vanilla i tried and amazing on it's own. Will be replacing vanilla swirl with this. I tried it at .5% - 3% and 3% is perfect. Most vanillas go mute after vaping on it for a few mins. But not this one. I could taste it all day yesterday as a standalone flavor. I also picked up DIYFS Gooey Butter Cake it smells good , letting it steep.
Please do a flavor review for Gooey Butter Cake whenever you get around to tasting it. I would be highly interested and even more thankful. I've had that on my list for a bit, but I have like 100ml of Holy Vanilla and need a real excuse to place an order for a single flavor. Lol Holy Vanilla is the kits bits, the bees knees, the cats pajamas, and the zens friends all rolled together into one biblically epic flavor. Definitely my #1 favorite.
Random question: does anyone have FA Forest Fruit? If so, can you tell me what color the concentrate itself is? Clear? Dark gold?

Thanks a lot! Picking back up on a Hawk Sauce clone attempt that I keep abandoning and then revisiting every few months. Got my hands on some pure concentrate, so now I have color to look at too.
I really like lemon juices, and wanted to make something similar to Turbo Roar by Boosted/THRST. I started with 5% CAP Vanilla Custard and 1% FE Lemon and was surprised to find it's a pretty good start. I've only been mixing a few weeks, and this is my first attempt at my own recipe.
Any suggestions on how to improve this?
If you like custard and lemon, FA Custard has a nice subtle lemon note to play off of.

Looks interesting! 20% is a way more flavoring than I would usually be drawn to, but I'll check it out.
I think the key here lies on your palate, what do you feel it needs? You could take this a lot of directions as far as if you want to lean towards bakery, adding something that will give it a bit of a crust; maybe you want an additional flavor like a berry or mint; perhaps you want to bring out the custard or lemon more, you could tweak the %s here or add an accent.
I found myself asking a similar question when I was just getting in to mixing, "How do I make a good recipe great?" The answer I've found is not so simple, since the variance and variables leave you with basically an infinite probability of juices, so you will just need to rely on your intuition and taste.
One thing to focus on is Balance -- this could turn a good juice in to a great juice.
Another thing that I think helps me is thinking as if I were making this juice to sell. With this mindset, any little off note, harshness, or anything that is displeasing will force you to find a way to work around it and turn that good juice in to something great. Here you may also find room to make improvements on certain flavors or notes with accents or pairings from other flavors.

This is all really helpful thanks! I've got a bunch of new flavors coming this week, was thinking of adding some TFA Meringue, TFA Vanilla Bean, TFA Vanilla Swirl, or maybe some TFA Toasted Marshmallow. Any suggestions on flavors for the bakery/crust taste, to make it like a lemon-meringue pie?
Possible stupid question: My first order from BCV is arriving tomorrow, but I had to order my nic from another vendor, and it isn't due to arrive until Wednesday. Obviously, I'm fairly excited to dive into mixing. Am I okay to mix a recipe tomorrow, and then add the nic Wednesday? I won't be actually using the juice until after a week steep, just wondering if there is any harm in mixing the recipe and adding nicotine later. Thanks!
Is there a difference between stirring (with a simple electronic device with ear buds with the ends cut off and tapered) vs shaking? I made two batches of the same juice containing strawberry, peach and apple, my one was shaken and his he wanted stirred. His flavours have melded all together into this one amalgam of flavour, whereas mine has a more distinct flavour our of each different flavouring and seems to be a tad harsher. Like when I vape mine, I take the apple on the intake, peach and strawberry on the exhale. His one is just a mixed fruit flavor where everything isnt as strong. Did stirring it speed up the steeping process? Cause I kinda prefer shaken over stirring, since I like the different layers in the juice.
I ordered a bunch of stuff from Vape wild for DIY. Their site says they use mainly 15% flavoring. So that is what I went with and my juice is pretty harsh. Which is weird because I'm using 3 mg nic and all the juices I've gotten from them have been great with no harshness. I've tried steeping as well.
I've been looking at a lot of recipes people have on here and I see there are a lot below the flavor percentage I used. Should I try going less flavoring to get rid of the harshness?
I'm using mainly fruit flavors since that is what I usually like. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Vape Wild is a bit shady when it comes to their "DIY"(see: getting rid of old stock they couldn't sell as ejuice) arm.

Idk much about vape wild, but it's worth a try to reduce the %. Start low (5%) and move up if it's weak.
Edit: it's also worth making a batch with no nic to rule that out. What is the recipe/recipes?
Vapewild sucks on all levels.
Stick to the big 5: TFA, Capella, Inawera, Flavorwest and Flavorah. Until you have more experience to branch out. Most of their flavors are well documented and widely used so you'll find more info about them.
Sorrry that your juice is harsh I'm sure using less % will help but nothing will help as much as getting flavors from a better source
FWIW, vapewild uses the big 5 for their concentrates. The only issue is that vapewild got tired of throwing away the stuff they didn't want to put into ejuice, and just decided they could make money off tricking new DIYers instead.
Shitty move on them. I tried juices from there when I was still buying juices and after trying like 10 of their flavors I decided to try and guide people away from vapewild and toward blue dot for nicely priced quality juice. I tried too many vendors to name but blue dot and vaporinabottle were my mainstays.
I also read that vapewild was selling shitty nicotine, I just wish there were a way to get people to stop giving them money so they'd learn.
What happens to flavors as they get old? If someone had flavors locked away in their closet for 4 years are they usable anymore?
they lose potency. i don't know if they "spoil" but i wouldn't use 4 year old... pretty much anything that has a nominal life expectancy of a year.
Well, some flavors benefit from age. For example, TFA Bavarian Cream, TFA Graham Cracker Clear, and TFA Vanilla swirl are all much better 2.5 years after I bought them.
So I just got some Mountain Dew juice and black cherry mirror the drink and I have some blueberry left over to make the shocker one any suggestions on ratios :)? Or add anything else to them the flavors are all TPA

if testing in 10-15ml bottles, I use a mixer. this one fits small bottles perfectly. just do not overdo it. if you see your juice all white, you did too much. again, only for testing. Good ol' fashion steeping works best. Try to shake the bottle once a day

TFA best flavors my opinion:
Bavarian cream
Vanilla bean ice cream
Strawberry
Strawberry ripe
Vanilla swirl
Pear
Cheesecake graham crust
Never tried any of the ones you mentioned , except raspberry sweet which I don't enjoy
Raspberry Sweet can be useful and Kiwi Double isn't bad. I would not recommend Grape Candy or Cappuccino at all.
I would recommend the flavors /u/HashSlingingSlashur suggested, execpt that on a list of just 7, I'd swap out Pear for Dragonfruit. But Pear is OK, too.
If you really want a raspberry flavor, try FA Raspberry or INW Raspberry. If you really want a Grape flavor, try INW Grape or even TFA Grape Juice or probably any other grape you can get would be better than Grape Candy. If it's a Cappuccino-esque flavor you're after, try FA Tiramisu but be prepared to get some cream flavor to mix with that. For Kiwi, you'll probably find more and better uses for FA Kiwi than Kiwi Double, but again, it's not bad.
After reading another thread I changed my choices to Strawberry ripe, dragonfruit, raspberry sweet and undecided for 4th. None of the other posters suggestions work for me other than strawberry , hate vanilla ejuice and artf. pear. Unfortunately the site I'm ordering from only has TFA , One on One, FW and Capella. Do you have any Raspberry(or very similar) and Orange (not cream) suggestions out of those brands? Thank you for taking the time to help.
Raspberry, no. Orange (not cream), yes - try CAP Sweet Tangerine for a sweeter, very pleasant orangy flavor or FW Blood Orange for a more bitter and pithy, but very natural orange. Those two are best used together, IMO, and if I were only going to get one, it would be the Sweet Tangerine, but pick the one that sounds best to you.
Hi guys I was reading a review of the jazzy boba liquid I try to clone for 1 year without success. In the review we talk about a "molecule" that gives creaminess that is not diacetyl and does not allow us to clone premium liquids, does anyone know what it is? There are no volatiles that are kept from us, we have access to anything these companies do. If it's not diacetyl, it could be acetyl propionyl, acetoin, butyric acid, butanoic acid, isoamyl acetate(in very low amounts it can promote creaminess), but most likely just plain sucralose.
Hi i am looking for a refreshing citrus pineapple juice which is not overly sweet. I'll try to be more specific so i am looking for lemon lime as notes in the background and i was thinking of FA LEMON SICILY & FA LIME TAHITY and for the pineapple i am looking for a one which taste like the pineapple from a can is CAP golden pineapple is the one for the job ? also i am not sure what exactly will give me the cool refreshing feel and any suggestions for more flavors more than welcome before i put my order :) also percentages will be much appreciated.

I'm thinking the Tahity will be a great Vanilla to to pair with the Peach and a bit of the Bourbon to give it depth. I don't think the Coconut will have much taste at this percentage but should help add body to the cream and malt.

INW peach is too high, and TPA malted milk that high will make it taste like old man breath.

So maybe drop the INW peach and Malted Milk by half, leaving the rest as is?
You could simplify this a lot and tweak from there

You're using a lot of vanillas and creams and if something is wrong it would be harder to tell
I think that a vanilla ice cream flavor would make it a lot easier and produce a better result
You could even use INW peach without the FA at 1% and it should stand up to a lot of other ingredients
Thanks for the input. I mixed my recipe using the tweaks skiddlzninja recommended. So far I'm tasting all peach, and no vanilla, no malt, no coconut. It is thick tasting though, if that makes sense....

Does anyone know of any good Organic VG flavoring made without artificial flavoring?
I want to mix my own juices because I am sensitive to PG and can barely find a good juice. I'm buying juice from a store next to my house and they say their juices are all VG and organic with no artificial flavoring in it. My only issue with them is that they add A LOT of sweetness to the juice... Thank you in advance to all the people responding and helping me.

Pretty much to ensure that there are no artificial flavoring... Those flavors are wayyyy to potent for me. Since I quit smoking cigarettes I can smell things very very well and taste them just as well so it's too potent for me...
[TFA] Malted Milk: has absolutely no smell or taste when I did my initial taste tests, and yes I could smell and taste all my other flavors just fine. Is this normal for this flavor, or did I get a bunk batch?

Thanks, I haven't actually used it yet. I put two drops in a small shotglass of water to taste test (works fine with everything else), and tried again with 4 drops. Maybe my question is can a flavoring have no smell or taste right out of the bottle and still show up in a mix?
Hello! I would really like to start making my own juices, and have been reading this sub like a maniac for the past few days, researching flavors, vendors, tools, etc. My question is this: Is it a bad idea to start with a more involved recipe as a beginner, even if you are following a proven recipe? Please don't laugh me out of here, but the juice in question is Five Pawns Castle Long. I absolutely LOVE this flavor, but I also absolutely REFUSE to pay $30 for a 30ml bottle. I realize the investment of the upfront ingredients are going to total over $30, and I'm fine with that as long as I know I will end up getting way more than 30ml of end product. Am I a complete moron?
If you have a solid recipe with good reviews, it's no different than a simple recipe as long as you can follow it precisely. Whatever ingredients you invest in can be used in other recipes, should you not like the outcome.

No problem. Don't put all your eggs in one basket though, grab some popular fruit or berry concentrates so you have something to experiment with while waiting for your mixes to steep. A lot of things can go wrong, getting your feet wet with something simple and catching potential problems with your supplies at an early stage is probably a good idea. Might save you from getting discouraged if your one mix turns out bad.
What LB flavours are must have for DIYer and/or good as single flavour mixes?
never heard about them previously. found info that their White Chocolate Peppermint might be good.

I got the cola freeze and the vanilla ice cream from LB and it was pretty good. I notice that with their flavor concentrate it will give you a bit of a throat hit, little harsh. Don't get their peach, I don't know if it was a bad batch or what, but just no. Blue raspberry was really good as well. Their E-mix worked great for me and the nicotine tastes great too. Hope this helps.
I only had a couple but their flavors but sugar cookie is really off putting, I wouldn't recommend it. Tastes really fake and nothing like a grainy sugar cookie should. CAP Sugar cookie is a hell of a lot better.
I've heard good things about their strawberry cheesecake and vanilla bean ice cream though.

I would not use TFA Juicy Peach as one of the main flavors of a juice. But if you like that flavor, more power to you. I'd say try Strawberry at 5% and Juicy Peach at 1%
Do you guys ever mix between standard percentages (i.e: 4mg, 5mg, 2mg etc?) I'm about to jump into this and want to strike a fair balance between vaping my face off all day and thinking, "Whoa there.. easy, tiger!" What would you say is a fair balance, assuming the nic is clean? Does it differ much from recipe to recipe?
It's really easy to change the amount of nic you use, so you'll just have to experiment and find what amount strikes that balance for you. If you normally vape 3mg, try bumping it up in .5mg increments until you find yourself vaping less or it gets too harsh for your liking.

Not only can to pick any crazy % that you want to get that just-right balance you're looking for, but you can slowly wean yourself off of nicotine if that's your goal someday, without having to make the giant leap from something like 6mg to 3mg. I weaned my friend from 6mg to 0mg in 0.5mg to 1mg increments. 5, 4, 3, 2... She really noticed a huge difference between 2mg and 1mg, so we went back up to 1.5mg for 120 ml and then back down to 1mg but with a slightly higher PG % for more throat hit. At 0mg, she is indeed vaping her face off all day now, though. But hey, no nic.
Tank Cracker related question: I don't have any plastic tanks but my Atlantis 2 has a ring of plastic for the bottom of the tank. Should I be concerned if I'm using tank cracking flavorings, or is it a different kind of plastic?
Does anyone know a good Peaches and Cream recipe with Juicy Peach (CAP)?
Not offhand, but it shouldn't be too hard to make one. Have you tried CAP Juicy Peach all by itself yet? I enjoy the taste of it but get even more throat ouchies from it than I get from the same % of the notorious TFA Juicy Peach. So I recommend trying it standalone before mixing up stuff with it. I'd recommend that regardless, but there's that extra reason to do with this one. If you have tried it and had no problems, what creams do you have on hand? And do you have any other stone fruits (other peaches, apricot, etc)?
Yeah I've tried on it's own, it's pretty good for a single flavour but fancied something with it. I've got Bav Cream (TPA), Cream Fresh (FA), Sweet Cream (TPA), Butter Cream (CAP) and uh... Banana Cream (TPA).
Hey guys, I brought a beginner mixing kit from Totally Wicked (UK based store) as I found it was massively cheaper than other sites, and I didn't want to spend too much in case I hated making my own liquid.
Although it's okay in itself, I don't really find the flavours (they sell their own brand, "Gold Standard") to have much taste to them. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with TW and it's simply because their flavours are lesser quality, or perhaps it's because I'm not steeping for long enough or mixing it wrong. Cheers
How much % do you bump the flavor concentrates when mixing for non sub ohm compared to sub ohm. I have read that people cut the % by 30 % when they have older recipes that were made for non sub-ohm devices.
I cut old recipes by 25%. Sometimes I'll bump the overall flavor up by 25% for my friend who is still using an old Nautilus mini, but I usually just keep the recipe the same and trust her 50/50 PG/VG ratio to carry the flavor better than my 30/70. There are exceptions. Candy texturizers like TFA Gummy Candy and CAP Jelly Candy are among them. To get the same effect in a non-sub-ohm setup, I've found I have to use double or more the amount, which brings those up to a % concentration that would be absolutely disgusting to sub-ohm.
Thanks for that, he is using one of eshisha heads (the ones that actually sit on top of a shisha) that is at 2ohms and he keeps tell me the flavor is muted. I will remix and hopefully it works better.
You're welcome. Sometimes flavors can even be muted by using too much flavor, but if he's vaping the same thing you are and you're enjoying it and he's saying it's muted, keeping the ratios the same and bumping up the overall flavor by 25% is one option. Another might be increasing the PG %.

After reading the sidebar i have made 'damm good pink lemonade' and a recommendation of 'kiwi apple lemonade' These juices were great and i am really happy.
However i made these in 3mg nicotine, the flavors were awesome.
I recently decided to lower my nicotine because i vape pretty much all day, and i am getting some side effects (extreme fatigue/slightly agitated/bad sleep and sometimes confusion lol)
So anyway.... i done some mixes with 1mg nicotine,
Nicotine : 0.42ml PG : 7.475ml/(35%) VG: 19.21ml/(65%) Lemonade : 1.80ml (6%) Lemon Sicily : 0.22ml (0.75%) kiwi: 0.60ml (2.0%) fuji: 0.30ml (1%)
have been vaping this for 5 days now and i honestly do feel better for it.
BUT the flavour is just not there no more, i cant taste the lemonade cant taste the apple, cant taste shit tbh
So has anyone had similar issues? Should i change the pg ratio? Up the % flavours?

Yea i did wonder that, i would have thought that less nic = more flavor. But i do remember buying a bottle of 0nic juice from a shop befor, and it fucking sucked compared to the 3mg alternative.

Hi guys, new to DIY and just curious about something.
Can only seem to find 36mg strength nicotine here and have it in 100% PG base as I read that was easier to start with. The thing I am finding is with some recipes being for instance up to 20% flavoring and the lower strength Nic making up 8.3% for 3mg it leaves almost no room for pure PG (1.67%).
Is this normal or am I fuzzing up on the calculator somehow?
Hi, I am brand new to DIY and vaping and Reddit even, I've been studying hard and my supplies have started to arrive. Super excited to begin.
I am planning on making some juice for a couple who vape 0% nicotine some kind of RY4 menthol. Researching recipes, it seems that this is some kind of holy grail. But I've ordered some flavors and hope to be able to come up with something acceptable. I did not order RY4 Double, because as a new vaper I bought a bottle of some kind of RY4 and that phase lasted about a day. I thought if I bought some more interesting flavors then I might be able to mix something I would like.
Looking for any recommendations / advice re: PG/VG pcts, steeping time (don't say 4 weeks lol) and flavors. Here are some of the flavors I have coming that I was thinking of using. I also have others, like marshmallow and sugar cookie.
I'm not sure exactly what kind of setup they have, one has some kind of box mod and the other some kind of tube with a tank in it somewhere (new to vaping). Personally, I have the Alien Baby. Someday I'll figure out all the hardware too.

Thanks, good to know. I think i have seen recipes like that, though. I am just turned off by the whole RY4 taste, at least the bottle I have. It seems there are better tobacco recipes out there.
I recently tried a menthol type of thing with Gold Ducat, DNB, and FA Polar Blast (similar to Koolada.) I don't really like that cooling sensation, so I can't say I really liked it that much. But besides that, I'm not sure the Ducat worked all that well with it. INW also had to reformulate the Gold Ducat, so I haven't had the updated version, so I can't really say how the new version would work. Your best bet from that list would probably be Gold for Pipe with some VBIC and caramel, and then start adding small doses of menthol until satisfied.
I am new to diy and need you help guys. So two days ago I made this recipe http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/287320/FA%20Tiger%27s%20blood%20 with the exact amount of every flavor, as written in this recipe, and used a 70VG/30PG base. I let it steep for the past two days, in a cool dark place, let it breath for a total of 1.5 hours. Today I vaped it but the flavor is very dull. It hasn't much taste in it. As a matter of fact, two weeks ago, I made my first and single-flavor eliquids and I experienced the same thing. I had to pull the flavor percentage up to 12% to make the dullness go away. I used Atmos Lab strawberry and pomegranate if anyone is interested. Right now I have a nautilus x, with a 1.5 Ω coil, and I am vaping at 16w. Can anyone please help me ? Is it the atomizer, the coil, the wattage the base? What can I change to replace dullness with taste? :P
You can skip breathing your juice. It's unnecessary and you are probably doing more harm than good to it. If you only had the cap off for an hour and a half I don't think that is contributing to the dullness. 70 VG is rather high for the nautilus. You should try 60/40 Or even 55/45.

question to pepper tasters - what coil builds you using? i really don't understand what's wrong with me. is it a build? does it depends of wire? (SS vs kanthal) resistance? TC vs VW?
going through recipes i previously mixed i realised that i mixed and vaped "Strawberry Overdose Clone" and only one thing i was not happy about - too heavy taste. i felt main strawberry-jam taste vaping it and TPA VBIC was there at 6%. recently i tried another variation of the same recipe but in new recipe TPA VBIC 6% was replaced with TPA Marshmallow 3% and TPA VBIC 3%. percentage of VBIC decreased twice!
but now only thing i taste is specific TPA VBIC taste. i can't taste strawberry at all.
initially i tried this recipe at old crappy Magma RDA (had to temporary used after cracking my tank and waiting for parcels from China). build was single (mb double) coil made from 24 AWG kanthal, ~5 3.0mm spaced wraps. VW mode
now i'm using avocado 24, double spaced coils 3.0mm 26AWG 7 wraps, SS316l, 235C TC
and with current build situation is worse. i enjoying the flavour and smooth vape i get from current build, but i just wondering is it something changed in me? or it's something wrong with build?

UPD3: i was wrong?.. using kanthal on avocado doesn't really change the situation. still mostly weird TPA VBIC taste. i was tried an old RDA again and found no significand difference. VBIC tastes little better there, but it's really minor difference when i compare the same juice holding 2 box mods with different tanks in each hand (previously i tried it after a some vaping break). mb first time i was wrong because of airflow differences. i'm confused. feel tired about all of that. and excited?.. i'll play with different builds this weekend trying to make myself enjoy TPA VBIC flavour. i hope it will be possible. i still think it's just weird to taste the same flavour in context of the whole recipe differently depends of wire and devise (i know about difference between cloud and flavour chasing tanks. i talking about different thing). for a some reason VBIC is only one flavour i have problem with. recipes i mixed before and after getting avocado taste event better now.
Looks like you may have figured out your problem. Just FYI, nicotine salts are meant for high nic DTL devices.

is it a bad idea to use nicotine salts in 3mg juices? i know that salts shouldn't provide to much TH at higher percentages, but anyway? i started with salts at 6mg and difference between it at free-base was noticeable. i just wanted to get as smoother vape as possible

just started vaping and being a moron I ordered 10 bottles of 12-20mg strong liquids and they are not very pleasant. the ones I tried were extremely uncomfortable in my throat. is that feeling caused by the nicotine? the one I currently vape has no PG and 20mg. should I bother adding some VG to those liquids? should I get some flavours that fit and use those liquids as a nicotine flavour-y base?
I also purchased one liquid with menthol and eucalyptus and it smells really awful, like old grandmother chewing on some cough candy. the brand is called "Herrlan" in case that helps.
Those juices probably are MAX VG. I doubt they do not contain any PG. You are better off buying bigger bottles of 0mg in the same flavors in order to reduce the nicotine. What concentration were you looking for? Adding VG will only dilute the flavor of those finished juices.

I don't even know what concentration I'm looking for, I just started. anything that doesn't make me want to not vape should do. the lowest I have is 12mg heisenberg and that was acceptable but occasionally uncomfortable.
I have 2 concentrates: one to be mixed at 20%-30% and another at 20%. Problem is, these %s seem to be catered toward those who mix roughly 70VG and I'm going to be mixing at 70PG. How much would I have to decrease the flavour % to make up for the fact that you get more flavour with PG? Thanks!
TPA pear. Could I have gotten some from a bad batch? Maybe the vendor didn't shake before pouring? I'm getting the worst of that concentrate and none of the best parts. I'm not good at descriptions. It's just off, flat, dirty, waxy. I mixed a batch of Fizz's Placid-ish which is only 4% pear and a mix I've enjoyed in the past. Then I mixed another in case I goofed up. It's no better after a week of sitting in the closet. 6% strawberry and 4% pear gives me the same taste that is just plumb wrong.

Not so much, but if you're mixing it with Strawberry and not tasting it alone, that could still be normal.
However, you've enjoyed it in the past, and now don't, so unless your nic base has gone off or you've got a touch of the vaper's tongue, or there's some other variable you haven't accounted for, it could be a bad batch, maybe mishandled by a vendor. Wouldn't be the first time.
Testing out my flavor concentrates for the first time, what %s should I cover? Is there an efficient way of testing a single flavor at different concentrations? What's a good gap of time between trying them to see how they age? Any recommendations on layout/organization when using spreadsheets for flavor notes?
Congratulations on deciding to do single-flavor testing. I think it's one of the most important things to do if you're going to create your own recipes.
%s you should cover vary wildly not only from one brand to the next but from one flavor to the next. Look around and see how others are using the flavor in question.
Testing a single flavor at different concentrations is a wonderful idea. I usually just make three bottles, one at a low %, one at what I think might be an optimal single-flavor, and one masochistically high % in order to see what pops out. /u/concreteriver has another method for testing at different concentrations, I believe, maybe he will enlighten us.
Try S&V or one day, a week, two weeks.

Hello im new to the mixing community and looking to expand my brain to all things of mixing juices. So this is my recipe all flavors and nic is in pg. Banana Nut Bread 1.0 Brown Sugar .5 Black Honey .5 and sweetener 10.0 nicotine 1.8 to a 70/30 mix. using the steam engine calc. so this is my first time and i absolutely love it im wanting to expand to making more flavors. any tips i would appreciate it and also looking where i can find concentrate flavors i currently use vapor world but they have a somewhat limited selection.

1% sweetener is the normal amount. 2-3% is considered high. 10% is waaaay off the charts, even for commercial ejuice. I recommend you start cutting back and I bet you will start to taste the other flavors more and enjoy them better over time.

I've been told for my mixes to not buy any pg the PG will be in the flavoring and just use straight VG but I feel like that's going to make me run out of flavors insanely fast is that a good idea?
As u/PerennialPhilosopher said you'll want some PG around. Most mixes taste better and have more flavor with about a 70vg/30pg mix. Even though the flavors are PG you'll still need to add a few ml of pg to get up to that ratio.
It's always nice to have PG around. Max VG juice can be a pain in the ass, and mute flavors. However you should be using the same amount of flavoring either way. Also will you be getting nic in PG? What mg/ml?

I would never use more flavoring to compensate for not using PG, yes you'll run out faster and you'll probably be using more than you need for something to taste good.
I use PG based nic and the use of VG based has never even been a consideration for me.

If you like fruits, I suggest you go on ELR, sort by rating and look for top recipes. Then buy the exact flavors you need to make them. I can't tell for sure due to your shoddy formatting but it looks like you may have done that already with a few of them. I'm not a fruits guy so unfortunately I can't make any great recommendations based on personal experience. However, TPA Dragonfruit will serve you well. As will INW Cactus. This I know for sure.

If I had to pick one and only one menthol it would be TPA Menthol because it's in many recipes, easy to find notes on and recommended % for usage. If I was allowed to choose 2, my second would be INW Natural Mint for a more natural feel which is sometimes a nice way to go. Technically, INW Natural Mint is not a true menthol anyway but just offering options.
A question to all strawberry non-tasters out there: how do you deal with it?? I have been mixing for 3 months, tried TFA Strawberry, Strawberry Ripe, CAP Sweet Strawberry and FA Strawberry in various % (5-10%), combinations of those and lastly adding Sucralose (0.5-2%) all to no avail. Is there anything else to try or should I give up?

Have you tried mixing them with menthol? I mix Strawberry Ripe with menthol (my own brew, made with 20% crystals and 80% PG) and the flavor comes out very clear, even at low percentages. It's one of my ADVs right now.

Well taste is subjective... Even water technically has a flavor. Perhaps you can taste something in koolada.

I realize that you are from Europe (don't know where exactly), but please try to properly punctuate your sentences. This was pretty difficult to read.
TFA Marshmallow is great and used in a ton of recipes. I highly recommend it.
TFA Graham Cracker Clear is pretty good as well, but doesn't really fit in with your fruit flavors unless you also buy TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust. These two flavors plus a fruit would get you on the right track for a fruit cheesecake.
Everyone's favorite cream will be different. I feel like TFA Bavarian Cream would go well with almost all of the fruit flavors you have so I'd go with that. I am not a fan of TFA Sweet Cream, but that could probably work with some fruits as well as with the TFA Graham Cracker Clear to create a semi decent cheesecake.
Koolada is just a cooling agent, but some people get a funky band-aid taste from it.
You have some good INW fruits and if you want to add some good TFA fruits, here's what I'd suggest based on the website you provided: TFA Banana Cream, TFA Blueberry Extra and Wild are okay (I prefer FW or HS Blueberry), TFA Kiwi Double, TFA Raspberry Sweet, TFA Strawberry, and TFA Strawberry Ripe.
Sometimes it's better to pick a highly rated recipe that fits your vaping profile, then order flavors for that recipe to build up your flavor inventory. Choosing random flavors all the time (especially for a beginner) can lead to a lot of wasted money.
Has anyone seen a statement from Flavourart on their recent price increase?
I can't find anything and there's a lot of people who keep spewing off dumb nonsense about it with zero sources.
I've been told that they're raising their MAP because they feel they're underrated and and they've caught some smaller companies selling their stuff at wholesale. Also, I know that they increased wholesale prices recently as well. So them increasing the manufacturer asking price is pretty much FA's way of telling wholesalers that, "yeah we are charging you more at wholesale cost, but we're also increasing our MAP so you'll be making the same profit margins on our product".
Richard Hong (Vice President Sales at FlavourArt - North America) said this on the DIYorDIY Facebook group earlier today.. "I said I wouldn't feed the trolls but let me post one last time about this. First of all, MAP pricing doesn't make FlavourArt more money at all. Period. It establishes a retail control which was a) asked for by our resellers and b) mandatory to stop the downward decline of our retail image. Anyone who wants to argue, go ahead but my answer will be this. Name one other flavour company that puts as much time and effort into advocacy for YOUR rights to vape as well as into toxicology. When you buy flavourart, you should feel proud that your purchase helps fund this fight and that the increase in price is worth it to support a company that cares so much for all vapers."
I came close in my reply to /u/chewymidget , but this response from Mr. Hong doesn't include the increase in wholesale cost to the companies that we buy from. If that wholesale increase is in fact true, then they are making more money.
I dunno that's all I got. I was reading more in the comments of that post and people said that basically FA price was being driven way down because certain big players were buying in such large amount and undercutting the market standard, thus forcing everyone else to lower price to the point that smaller companies wouldn't even bother carrying FA cuz margins were so small. If the increase is not immense I'm ok with it considering that FA does spend a lot of money on advocacy and designing products specifically for vaping. Same goes for FLV. Unlike FW and TPA which prefer to ride the fence, making immense profit off vaping but refusing to take any steps to ensure their products are safe for that use. I'm totally open to counterpoints on the subject tho so if you got any, hmu.
Is there any specific order that you would recommend mixing the ingredients in? Also is there an order that I should mix the flavors in or just mix them accordingly and it'll come through
I always do nic first since that's the most expensive ingredient. If you accidentally over pour you can just dump it right back in the bottle and start over.
Ha! I do it last because that way it spends less time in the bottle in danger of being spilled. Funny how the same concern leads us to do the opposite thing.
When I mix I do multiple bottles / recipes at once, so nic first then that's out of the way. Then flavors (for all bottles). Then VG, which I usually eyeball to about the 70-80% full level, then top off with PG to fill. %-10% variations in the VG/PG ratio don't matter a ton in my experience.
I'm pretty lazy and have a pre-mixed nic base with 87.5% VG, 12.5% PG and 1.25 mg/ml nicotine. This way I only have to add flavors and PG to get a 70% VG, 30% PG and 1 mg/ml nicotine. Limits me to max 20% flavor, but that's fine with me. Apart from being lazy I had some "accidents" in mixing directly with high concentrated nicotine as everything > 1.25 mg/ml is too harsh for me.

These are the flavors I believe would help if at all
TFA Blackberry is very strong, 1% is plenty. Try this:
- 1% TFA Blackberry
- 3% TFA Raspberry Sweet
- 0.5% INW Raspberry
That should be a decent balance.

Hi guys - first off sorry for the lack of formatting im on mobile atm.
I'm fairly new to mixing and have a question that I can't seem to find a definitive answer on, that id like your opinion on if possible. Hopefully this is the right place.
The steeping process.
Usually I'll mix up my liquids (nic, pg/vg and concentrates) from a recipe and use the exact amount and ingredients as directed. (My attempts at mixing my own went horribly wrong and not ready to try again). After mixing I'll leave the liquids in a dark cool cupboard and shake once a day for the recommended steeping time for that recipe.
I've read different opinions that say when mixing some prefer to pre mix the concentrates and let them blend for a while before adding pg/vg and nic, then let that steep. Whilst others say mix the concentrates, leave it then add pg/vg then and leave then only add nic when ready to vape.
What's the correct process here or is it down to personal preference?

A) Mix all Ingredients and let it steep B)Mix concentrates let it blend then add pg/vg/nic let it steep. C) Same as above but only add nic when I'm ready to vape.

IMO:
A.) This is really going to be the most efficient route for steeping especially if you are still testing and working out an ADV.
B.) If you have an ADV that you know you'll be ADVing for another 3 months or so, mixing a flavor base can cut down on steep time a bit, but it still will need to steep after VG is added.
C.) It's a good idea, and works, but you still need to mix your nicotine in to the finished liquid, and then that will still change a bit with a steep; to me this is more trouble than it's worth just mixing the nic in at the beginning.
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and we were wondering if you could vape an eliquid with Vodka. So I decided to have a look at some "eliquid calculators" online and I found this one (http://e-liquid-recipes.com/create) which lets you add a certain percentage of Vodka to your mix.
Now I was wondering if any of you ever tried mixing Vodka in your eliquid and if so how much Vodka you used (I read smth about 10% or so as a max, but I'm not sure) and how the taste and "effect" of the eliquid was altered using Vodka.
So I hope someone can tell me something about their experiments with Vodka so I don't have to waste my precious clear well of happiness :D

It's used for thinning MAX VG and possibly for those who vape 0mg and want a bit of a throat hit. If you don't need to do either of those, there's no reason to use it.
I don't have experience with it myself, but I have heard of people using it before for thinning VG. I would think that it's a waste of good liquor when PG is so cheap.

Looking to start making my own juice and I think I understand all of the measuring and mixing. I'm just looking for a decently priced pack of vg, pg, nicotine, and maybe some flavours that would ship to Canada for less than an arm and a leg! Running low on funds right now so I figure this will be a cheaper way to satisfy my vaping hobby in the long run.

I don't have much of a price range, as long as I'm getting a better deal for ml/$ compared to vape shops. I guess up to $100!

you might want to buy either a coke scale from somewhere else, or some heroin needles to measure your flavors, the syringe that comes with the kit is decent for measuring the nicotine ml's at a time, but youll want a smaller one for flavors (I actually just go by 25 drips a ML, but that is very inaccurate)
if you vape more then 10 ml/mg, you might want to buy some extra nicotine
id suggest getting the 48 mg/ml nicotine till you get use to how to handle it without spilling, 100 mg/ml is potentially dangerous
Broke Vaper is a great place to start. Read through your the comments on this post. I see no reason why you should not buy nicotine to start. Get 48mg/mL. That is a fairly now concentration so as long as you don't lather your body in it, you will be fine safety wise. Handle with care, wipe up any small spills and you're go to go. I do highly recommend a scale but if you're not sure yet, then blunt tip syringes and a graduated cylinder will do for now. If you happen to be in Toronto, let me know. There's actually a B&M here where you can grab stuff like that along with a limited selection of flavors.
Another point, it's better to buy flavors based on the recipes that appeal to you, rather than picking flavors you like and then trying to make a recipe. So go on ELR front page and click the "ratings" tab so it's sorts by top recipe, then check some out and go from there.
You're probably right about the flavors and nicotine. I was wondering if there were any issues or concerns when ordering nicotine online? Or is it just like any other item?

Has anyone used INW - Raspberry (Wera Garden), I picked up a 8mL vial from Wizardlabs and it is incredibly strong. I tried .5% with .5% FA Lemon Sicily and it was weird. May try with FW Blueberry or FA Forrest Fruit and Strawberry Ripe low percentage. It smells wonderful like a blue jolly rancher, hope I can find that.

Don't know, but generally speaking, the term "natural" only means that some of the components occurr naturally in that fruit. It does not necessarily mean an extract, the source may be something completely different. It's still artificial. So yea, it's a vague term and while it may taste different, it's mostly about marketing.

anyone ever uses coloring in DIY juice? ...
it's fairly common in commercial juices, but in DIY it seems frowned upon. I think it could have it's purpose for occaisional festive purposes. but never done it. wouldn't know where to buy. i usualy shop at https://vapourdepot.com/ but they don't supply coloring
Any http://e-liquid-recipes.com juices that would be recommended as:
- Crowd pleasers ADV (and/or)
- Interesting ADV
I don't know what juices are popular, but taste is subjective and ADV's are highly personal. If you try to be more specific, like a berry ice cream or a lemon sugar cookie, I'm sure you could get some recommendations. Either way, you'll have better luck browsing ATF for good recipes and you can sort by popularity etc.
What /u/leapinglabrats said, except sort by ratings. Popularity is just a measure of how many people looked a recipe, which they could be doing for any number of reasons that have nothing to do with how delicious it is. Ratings are by people who actually took the time to review recipes they've tried.
How interesting are you talking here? I would probably recommend starting with one of /u/HocusKrokus's recipes like Sakura Sweets for a good floral ADV or Dirty Chai for something truly unique.
I would also recommend my Aura: Forest, this one always invigorates my palate when it grows bored.
Interesting such as the way people talk about Grack Juice with what all the complexity it seems to have. I also added a Dr. Pepper type thing to my wishlist--that seems interesting.

I hope this is the right spot /subred for this question... I'm kinda new to mixing (a couple of month only) and just try to get better... i want to mix/change a good and high rated recipe from ATF and ELR but i dont like strawberrys, i mean i like to eat them i just dont like to vape them, i even can taste them and i really tried to like them (Cap Sweet Straw. and of course all of the TPA ones) but i just don't.. i know i'm probably the only one here but yeah, enough of the rant, to my question: i'm looking for an really good blueberry and ratio to replace the strawberrys in recipes like "strawberry shortcake bar" from NotCharlesManson, "Sweet Strawberry Cream" by CheebaSteeba" or such... in my last recipes i went with TPA BB extra and TPA BB wild at a 50:50 ratio and with TPA BB wild and FA Bilberry at a 10:1 ratio, which was both ok... but ive read so much good about FW BB on here and now that i received it, i'm trying to figure, i was thinking on FW and FA Bilberry in a 6:1 ratio..?! all kind of FB would be highly appreciated..

You want to use FW blueberry, but absolutely not a 6:1 ratio with bilberry. Actually, leave out the bilberry entirely, FW is great as is. But keep it below 2%, that shit will take over any recipe if you use it higher

I would prob recommend a combo of FW blueberry and TFA blueberry extra; FW blueberry can do the heavy lifting on most of your blueberry mixes. Also check out FLV blueberry muffin for a sort of "baked" blueberry flavor with a mild bakery note, or INW blue dwarf for something truly unique (it's kind of like blueberry gum).
For a straight sub though I would recommend FW Blueberry @ 2-4% and TFA blueberry extra @ 1-2%.

I discovered all these recipes in ejuice Me Up that I didn't know were there before tonight. Has anyone mixed these before? Are they good on their own, or just a good starting point to build upon?
We don't know what those recipes are. Most of us use ELR or ATF.
The ones I looked at seemed like they might've been pulled from either of those. They credit user names in the notes section.
So I accidentally went over about .5g of the last ingredient (VG) of a 60mL mix in a 30/70 (PG/VG) mix, and I used the dropper to suck out and discard the ~.5g from the very top of the liquid. It still smells pretty strong of the flavorings.
I'm wondering from anyone has done this before if it's even a significant mess-up or not.
