##Yearning -- An Homage

A recipe that had gotten me thinking about what mixing means to me (besides just making a tasty juice) is Longing by /u/ID10-T. The recipe does more than deliver a pleasant profile, it delivers an experience, which is something I have always wanted to do.

Though the name obviously plays off of /u/ID10-T's recipe, it is also personal. Ever since I smelled FLV Persimmon, I fell in love. It's got this aroma that's floral, sweet, fruity, and just plain delicious -- everything I've wanted in a vape. Upon mixing up a SFT @ 1.5%, the taste translates just as beautifully as the smell, but the throat... oh the throat... so harsh... I tried bringing it down to 1%, 0.5%, and even 0.25% and it was still giving me trouble in recipes, but I knew there must be a way to tame it, and by golly I was on a mission.

##Yearning
Steep: Works as S&V but develops more over 3-5 days
Ratio: 20PG/80VG

Ingredient|%| :--|:--| FLV Persimmon|0.5%| FLV Sweet Cream|0.75%| FLV Frosting|0.5%| TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream|3%| TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato|2%|

Suggested Soundtrack: Kusanagi by Odesza

I had tried mixing Persimmon in with florals, fruits, bakeries, cocktails, creams, etc, and nothing seemed to be working. I decided to try just throwing it on top of what I've dubbed now as my Cream Stone and was surprised that the throat was almost entirely subdued. Then I tried bringing it up a little higher and I was getting the full delicious flavor of FLV Persimmon, on top of a nice creamy base, with little-to-no throat (none on the inhale, slight tickle on the exhale). Originally I wanted to do this recipe with Cherry Blossom and Persimmon, but it wasn't working out, and I believe I achieved the goal of a similar style vape to Longing while still staying within the constraints of the contest it was a part of.

**"Oh how I yearn to relive
Those missed opportunities.
Lovers lost,
Careers canned,
Experiences expelled,
But they're gone...

Oh how I yearn to relive
Those happier times.
Carefree and spontaneous,
Excited and outrageous,
Jubilant and generous,
But they're gone...

Oh how I yearn to relive
Those eras of freedom.
To come and go as I please,
To try new things and
To feel new feelings.
But they're gone...

But that's not who I am
Not anymore.
I love who I am,
and the world around me I adore.
Oh how I yearn to live,
The future and all that it holds in store."**

Congratulations on taming the wild FLV Persimmon! I'm so happy to have provided some sort of inspiration. Yearning for a particular concentrate with a taste you've fallen for, an aroma you've always desired, to not tear your throat apart? I'll order TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato to share some of that longing with you. I want to taste your growing desperation as you tried mixing that Persimmon with thing after thing, only to have your heart broken again and again, followed by your elation when something at last made it work.

Left the door wide open but you just won't quite go though it. Oh well.

I would love for you to enter my experience with persimmon! I just hope it is as good for you as it is for me. It's good straight away but really mellows out after a 5 day steep

Heard about this on the show yesterday. Will mix it up when I'm done with my moving mess.

OP have you ever had a persimmon? They grew in my uncle's yard and are fairly common in the state where I grew up. Pretty cool! I would LOVE to have a mayhaw flavoring to tinker with. It would really bring back memories of my grandmother's mayhaw jelly!

I haven't unfortunately! This flavoring has inspired me to change that though. How would you describe the flavor on a mayhaw? Sounds interesting

I've never had a mayhaw by itself, and I've never seen anyone eat one that wasn't made into something like a jelly. For that reason, I think it might not be the best fruit to eat by itself. But the jelly tastes like a combination of sweet apple (like Fuji or Gala, my two favorites) and mango. That's as close as I can come to describing it =)

It looks like you're trying to mention another user, which only works if it's done in the comments like this (otherwise they don't receive a notification):

Never heard of Persimmon until this thread. Had to Google it to figure out wtf it was. Sounds...interesting. Probably not a flavor profile I'd ever vape, but the recipe does sound good. That cream stone recipe looks like a great base. I just ordered some FLV Frosting. Anything I can use to sub until it arrives?

I started subbing FLV frosting and TFA vbg in place of LA Cream cheese icing; I would recommend la cci in @1% in place of those two here for a sub but it will need a long steep and I can't guarantee it will be a good sub since I haven't specifically it with persimmon

i'd just wait for the frosting to arrive before tweaking this cream stone; it is a very unique ingredient. Read the flavor review for FLV frosting for more info.
