Setup: Recoil w/ flavor barrel, Dual 15 wrap 26g 3mm Nifethal 70 coils @.17 ohms. 60w power, 450F temp limit. Full Cotton Wicks.
Testing: FLV Persimmon @ %1 and 1 drop per 10ml (about .25%), 60/40 VG/PG, Steeped 17 days.
Flavor Description: An interesting, tart, juicy, and sweet relatively authentic soft persimmon flavor with a solid throat hit. Throat hit is on par with something like FA Passion Fruit, with the same kind of acidic edge. Flavor itself is like a cross between a tart peach and sweet plum with an earthy, spicy peel note.
Inhale is tart and sharp, and on the lighter side of density. Bit of a sharp, acidic sensation on the tongue. Solid, natural tasting stone fruit sweetness. Exhale has peach up front. Closer to a sharp, slightly floral peach like FA White Peach but with an added bit of realistic juiciness. Deeper, more "red" plum sweetness underneath that. Slightly spicy, tart, top notes with a pleasant earthy edge. Sweetness tastes really natural to raw fruit. A bit light on density for the actual flavor, but the sweetness tastes pretty solid. Harsh, acidic throat hit.
Off-flavors: Fairly close to a soft persimmon. I don't have a ton of experience with soft persimmons, and no experience with the harder candied or pickled varieties, so as always YMMV. It's been a minute since I've had a raw persimmon, but it's actually really close with some of that acidity pushing towards the astringent edge to persimmons. Anything "off" here is fairly realistic.
Throat Hit: Oh boy. This might be a problem. I get a pretty solid throat hit on this and something that feels a lot like heart burn afterwards. I think people have a bit of varying sensitivity to throat hit, and I will say this doesn't taste any more acidic than TFA Pineapple or harsher than TFA Juicy Peach. So it may not be a dealbreaker for you.
Uses & Pairings: It almost has to be the primary note in a recipe. The fruit here is complex, sweet, and juicy enough that I'm not sure I want too many other fruit notes in there to muddy things up. Might pair well with a juicier, softer fruit like a melon flavor. Seems like a really good fit for something like FA Watermelon/Red Summer or FLV Watermelon. Seems a bit tart for adding in citruses, but maybe something softer like a tangerine may push that brightness further forward, without piling onto the throat hit.
Acidity level is similar to FA Passion Fruit, so I'm guessing that mixing creams will work about the same way. I'd personally stick with lighter creams, with the added bonus of FLV Cream or FA Fresh Cream muting some of the acidity. Seems to juicy for heavier bakeries and creams.
Notes: Concentration testing, this is pretty prominent at .25%. Bright, juicy, slightly floral peach base with a deeper plum body and a complex, slightly spicy and earthy top note. All of that acidic bright throat hit is still there though. Going up in percentage, that peach seems to get more solid and pushes a bit more toward canned peaches. .5% brings together that peach and plum a bit, reading as a sweeter peach but still retaining a bit of an earthy edge. 1% loses some nuance, but picks up in sweetness. Earthy notes and the acidity are making this taste a bit astringent. By 2%, the actual fruit here seems dull and muted, but the acidity is overbearing.

I'm sadly in the "WHAT THE FUCK WHY IS MY THROAT ON FIRE" school of palate sensitivity with this flavor. It absolutely destroyed me even after sitting for two weeks
Oh dear - think I convinced Lewis to add some to their order... :-(
I mean it tastes good. The flavor is really nice. Some may not experience any harshness at all. Completely brutal to me, but some say it's fine to them. I also feel this way about TPA Juicy Peach, which leads me to believe it's terpene issue, given their similar notes
I didn't even have to look to know this was your review river. I have this on my shelf.. Very low in an aromatic Pipe tobacco you think? Haven't cracked the bottle yet.
It's worth a shot. It's really tasty stuff and the flavor should be a pretty good fit. That light astringency seems like it would work with a tobacco. You may also be able to hide some of that throat hit with a tobacco front and center.
Maybe a few drops of MTS Vape Wizard would smooth out the throat hit. I seldom use it but in this case maybe it'll make sense.
It certainly is heartbreaking, BUT, I have had success as well as others in taming the gnarly throat of persimmon, the trick so far for me was a thick and heavy cream to lay it on top of, or I think it was Clayton with SteamRoom Vapes (I don't know his reddit handle) said he used a bit of sweetness to tame it.
I think the goal here is distraction
When I tested this I can't say there was a strong throat hit...at least nothing that I put in my flavor notes.
Flavorah Persimmon It's too bad Americans aren't more familiar with persimmons, since the Latin word for it means “food of the gods.” A fruit most often grown in warm, dry climates, those found in larger grocery stores are most likely Japanese persimmons. Persimmon is Japan's national fruit and that's where it originated.
Persimmons are red-brown or orange fruits that grow on trees like plums and look like a small, rather flat tomato capped by a calyx. The are two varieties, stringent and non-astringent, the latter being pleasingly sweet. To avoid bitterness, the paler varieties should be eaten only when very ripe, usually peeled.
Even though my wife eats Persimmons all the time, I personally never indulged in her love for Persimmons. That was until I receive a bottle of FLV Persimmon concentrate.
I had my wife pick some up at a local Asian store and to my surprise I actually enjoyed it. I found it’s flesh to me be very moist, juicy and perfectly sweet. The texture is almost like a ripe mango, but it is totally different…when you take a bite it seems to melt in your mouth
My test will be on a BMI Goldie 2 RDA using Fused Clapton coils with a .31ohm resistance @ 104W Flavorah flavors are very strong, so I will be testing using drops and not percentages. I will mix a 10ml @ 70VG/30PG
Smell from Bottle: Very realistic, sweet honeyed succulent smell. However, it does smell a little stronger than the actual fruit…. Almost like a candy-ish smell to it
At 2 drop/10ml: There isn’t much taste, very faint and light. However, you can taste the sweetness, but it is very subtle.
At 4 drops/10ml: Now I get more of the sweet honeyed flavor… a very delicate, moist fleshy taste
At 6 drops/10ml: At 6 drops this is where I think the flavor shines, however you could probably go a little higher with the flavor. I find the vape to be very delicate and smooth. The sweetness is very close to the actual fruit and the flavor is spot on.
I can really taste the succulent flesh of the Persimmon on the inhale and the sweet honeyed, with maybe a slight hint on cinammony taste on the exhale…..leaves me licking my lips.
Is this a single flavor ADV for me, probably not? But if you love Persimmons like my wife does then you might find this a good ADV. Because this flavor has a very delicate smooth profile it will not stand up in heavy recipes. But in a recipe that has similar profiles, this could add depth to your recipe.
